Cheers chaps, i knew the plastic bread and soup had oodles of salt but wasn’t sure about the, hmm, ‘instore baked’ bread. Ive already cut the soup out, shall look at a bread maker.

Thanks geetee, junior langy is supposed to be cricketing everyday but if the weather is anything like last year I could well get some riding in, looks a great place to bike.
There is a pub called the Wheat sheaf and a best Western near Hayward Heath, will have a quick look at them

Been there 5 or 6 times in recent years, love the place. The people are friendly and you have some of the best mountains and beaches in the uk, all within an hour or so of each other.
We stay at a place called Gwynfryn Farm about 1.5 miles out. It has an indoor pool, good gym and is a beautiful spot.

Wow, just reading the posts on here and the mention of everyone’s favourite books reminds me of some of the excellent things he has written. He has been the one constant author in my reading for the past past 25 years, sad news indeed.

As someone who regularly deals with the consequence and aftermath of drug and alcohol abuse, I can see both the fors and againsts for legalising all drugs. Alcohol is the drug of choice for most people in our country, probably followed by cannabis which is consumed by the younger generation like my generation once glugged woodpecker cider.
Both are enjoyed by the majority without too many consequences, apart from the eventual health concerns.
However, heroin is a totally different kettle of fish, one or two hits can lead to a lifetime of misery and addiction. Even if it were legalised, addicts would still have huge problems coping with day to day life.
Alcohol does this to a minority who try it, heroin to the majority. There are some very valid reasons for legalising drugs but i would be devastated if in 5 years my 13 year old could try heroin as it was legal.

Cheers folkes but I am pretty sure looking at the radiators that it is not a storage heater system, the radiators look like normal ones. Just wondering if anyone else has this system and rough running costs, the house is an average size 3 bed semi. Does have a coal fire though 🙂

DJ, I have had a look at the radiators and it looks like it is a ‘wet’ system rather than storage heaters. Changing the system isn’t an option as it is a rented property.

I have to say it is slowly dawning on me he was a bloody genius. Really didn’t get it until about 10 years ago, when you give it time it seeps in.

My 25 year old me just stabbed my eyes out for liking ‘Country’

    My love will come
will fling open her arms and fold me in them,
will understand my fears, observe my changes.
In from the pouring dark, from the pitch night
without stopping to bang the taxi door
she’ll run upstairs through the decaying porch
burning with love and love’s happiness,
she’ll run dripping upstairs, she won’t knock,
will take my head in her hands,
and when she drops her overcoat on a chair,
it will slide to the floor in a blue heap.

That video is funny but absolutely gut wrenching at the same time, had i been on that ship i think i would have been praying to the god i never believed in.

As an aside my uncle was a deep see merchant navy captain, he had a term for yachtsmen. WAFID’s.

Went around Gisburn on tuesday and my friend’s front mech froze. I offered to have a wee on it but he declined. Would work just as well for spd’s. 🙂

Sorry Daisy, he is actually right. There is a huge amount of history to all this, Some of us are actually anal enough to read through the finer details, it’s quite important to us.

Ned/Lazybike. Read Rough Ride, it’s a good start. It would appear Chris Boardman was generally regarded as a clean athlete of the time, just imagine what he could have done at the Tour had the dopers not been rampant around him.

Missed it tonight. I find most of it rather difficult apart from the last round which I find quite easy. Must say something about me I suppose.

Talk of kids/mortgages/finances is always tough to hear, really pleased things didn’t turn out as you feared. I think you touched a STW nerve here judging by the number of people wanting to know how you got on.

Ooooh, so much loveliness i’d forgotten how wonderful the 80’s were. The The, Uncertain Smile, brings back many happy memories and a fantastic piano riff by Jools, loving the Kate Bush vid as well

Think i’d have to go for something operatic, Intermezzo from Cavalleria rusticana, or maybe a touch of Pagliacci, or Samson and Delilah

Tp, turbos are far better than exercise bikes as you have constant resistance. You can do a 20 min sprint interval session and completely knacker yourself out. I bought a 2nd hand half decent Tacx on here a couple of years ago and it has been great. Just get some decent tunes on the old walkman and feel the pain 🙂

I did a brief comms course earlier in the week (the police communication civilians are going to lose up to £700 a month soon when their contracts are ripped up and cover will be needed when they strike). The trainers played a few actual recorded emergency calls, one man from Lancaster called 999 and said ‘I’m having a shit, there’s no bog roll’. Now that’s an emergency.

‘Most alterations to the English don’t really bother me, as they are simply the evolution of a living language. However, hearing the incorrect pronunciation of the letter H really does annoy me. It also gives me the impression that the person uttering it is a complete twerp. An obviously personal view, you understand. I notice that certain BBC presenters are now using the “haytch”. If it ever reaches the national BBC News then I’m sure it’ll certainly be the death of the correct “aytch” pronunciation.’

I’m with this person on aitch. Didn’t realise it caused such a stir elsewhere in the world though, David Sillito indeed!

People who say ‘haitch’ for the letter aitch. Having said that it makes me feel smuggly superior to the people that say it, so they can carry on.

Michael Atherton saying ‘gotten’. I could stand the dirt in the pocket but not this.

When people say ‘haitch’ instead of ‘aitch’ for the letter H. Sky sports presenters are particularly bad at this. It has become a bit of an obsession to be fair

Saw neds’ supporting wonderstuff at king georges hall, blackburn, thinking late 80’s but not totally sure. 8 legged groove boys were immense, all i remember of neds is a tower of about 4 people sitting on each others shoulders swaying round the dance floor.

Bought a light saber on play.com in 2007 for £49. Sold it on ebay last week for £49 🙂

Same week sold my 12 year old Smart Halogen rechargeable lights for £34. I think they only cost me £39.99 at the time. Felt strangely guilty, hope it was no one on here.

Ooh, really enjoyed A Week in December, more so than his early stuff. Opinion is a funny thing though, bought some James Ellroy after hearty recommendations on here and could’t get on with it.
