We were actually mis sold ppi in the early 2000’s by MBNA, we have had to report them to the FO as after 2 letters they are still refusing to pay out.

52 mins is my best. That was before they put in all that bloody singletrack though 🙂
Does anyone else miss all the ‘cheeky’ bits that has pretty much all gone with the logging? My favourite was what we called ‘Blair Witch’; down hully gully, up the other side to the fire road, then rather than drop down left to the bridge, turn right then left into a dark, damp, slitherfest of steep forest hillside. Happy days.

I’ve got a pair of Continental Mountain Kings that have had very little use and would be ideal for the sort of riding you are talking about. They are fast rolling and were great during the dry summer, but living in the north west that didn’t last long so they came off after about 10 rides. I could bung them in the post for not much money if you still haven’t bought any

Having Brazil written in big letters on the underside makes you think they were sort of expecting to end that way up

Don’t worry too much about the computers they do grow out of them. my eldest spent about 4 years in his bedroom on Xbox and I despaired at times, but once he hit uni that all stopped (mainly replaced by drinking games)and he has a great social life that no longer involves communicating via a microphone.
Youngest just turned 14 and is talented at a wide range of sports (not cycling unfortunately), he gets a bit too familiar with the Xbox in winter but that all changes once the cricket season starts.

Not classics in their own right but anything by one of the three Scottish Ian’s, not a dud amongst them.

Plus anything by Dickens, great stories

Ranking DM with Kate Bush? Hmmmm…
Can’t think of two more opposing sounds and they are both wonderful in their own way (Kate Bush is just much much better though).

I’m quite pleased with this post. I think about 8 posts was my previous best 😀

Ooh is that Dave Clark from the Dave Clark 5. He’s still doing well for himself at 1200 quid an hour 😀

Still, Burton, Harris and O’Toole were screen legends the like we will never see again, and you spent a couple of hours with one of them!

MacC, I shall gently giggle into the early hours at that one, wonderful stuff. Could well have been the nail in the coffin for Frank.
Busy, still no more points but I am rather jealous. Was this around the time of The Comedians?

Ooh, just remembered the last Tory Conference at Blackpool, an incredibly drunk Alan Duncan approached myself and a colleague in the early hours at the Imperial Hotel and asked how he could get out of the carpark. My colleague said ‘sir, you could leave by that exit, or that exit (pointing at the 2 obvious exits), or alternatively you could stick a rocket up your arse and leave that way’.
One can only take so many drunken (tory) politicians in one night.

I think it also depends which force you are in, I know in my area officers are being prosecuted for due care with the same evidential threshold as a member of the public. Messages regularly come down from the top that if you are speeding without justification, using your mobile etc then you will be dealt with in the same manner as anyone else.
Just as an aside we rarely pursue criminals in vehicles these days. Only police advanced drivers can pursue and only when it is safe to do so, ie at night when the streets are empty. No other officers can become involved in a pursuit. So if you want to nick something, come to Lancs 😀

Jonba, this is true, but having joined a job that is truly shitty in so many ways, and having come through a selection process where (it used to be) approx 1 in 100 who applied got in, and having been told this was part of the overall package for a career that deals regularly with what most people will experience only a handful of times in their lives, I think it only fair that what you were promised is upheld.

Sorry Drac that’s all I’ve got. However a WF riding buddy of mine has the task of sorting toast out for the Watch. He is also currently embroiled in a 3 month ‘Ab Off’ feud with a colleague, having won the long distance running comp (all at work).
Not criticism, just jealous at having joined the wrong job. Can I say when i retire I want to be a fireman 😀

Sadly I spent an hour (or 3) looking through 4 year old mugshot thread on here last night. A little sad to see so many well known names haven’t posted for a year or two. Nice to have one back. Don’t bugger off to Twitter or wherever it was SFB, you are needed here.

Drac, I am more than happy to be left alongside nurses. You might have to be a bit more obvious though to rile the Water Fairies 🙂 Apologies WF’s only joking. If any of you are still awake at work, I have plenty of first hand experience of your incredible work at major incidents, it’s just that you get a lot of time to play tig, sleep and polish your bells in between 😀

Sugs, I guessed your (previous) job. I wasn’t having a go, I have 9 years 344 days left to go in what remains of your previous employment. I joined at 26 so many of my dear friends have retired recently having joined at a similar age to yourself.
Drac, out of all the 24/7 jobs out there I have to say I think you chaps really do deserve far more credit, (money) than you get. The nurses and firemen get all the credit when you know it is your lot and my lot that do the hard yards 😀

Dogman, tight butt muscles here too (he says modestly), they seem to be the root cause of numerous problems in the midrift/back area.

Got regular pain on the outside of my hip a couple of years ago whilst running, thought it might be a ware and tear problem. I also had a lower back problem and went to the physio who gave me some glute stretching exercises, which completely cured the hip, and did alleviate the back pain. The stretch involves lying on your back and resting one ankle on your other knee whilst lifting the knee towards your head; sounds wrong, looks wrong, but might just help.

Pete Postlethwaite in Brassed Off. Also makes me want to cry and laugh out loud every time I see steven tompkinson dressed as a clown on the hospital bed having failed to hang himself.
