Like many have said here, its gonna be getting to the event that’s going to be the challenge. I don’t see how its possible for anyone from further afield than Keswick to make it there. It’s more of a driving challenge than a riding challenge. Rescheduling the event to after the bank holiday seems the logical decision.

Come on city! What a result. Reckon that is the end of Lambert. Don’t think its down to him though. He’s got a team of losers there.

May I diverse to suggest, what is the best trilogy or series of three films with same charachters/plotline. I don’t think you can beat the Christopher Nolan Batman films. All three are belters.

Like it. Well written and gritty.

Reckon your favourite film is the one amongst many DVDs that you will happily watch over and over. With that in mind I can’t say I am excited by the thought of watching the godfather films or other classics. I feel the Departed is a cracking film that iv watched many times and never loses its appeal. Great story, great cast and humour. It’s got my vote.

The more I hear about Lance Armstrong the more narked I get. Pathetic human being. All the “livestrong” brand bull**it and years being made out as a legend. The lying bast**rd lapped it all up didn’t he!

Lying seems to be second nature to that guy. Gets me how a guy who cheated death, then abuses his body in such a way. I mean the list of drugs he was on was nuts!

Would recommend doing it on a hardtail rather than a full bouncer. Some nice sweepy loose stuff that’ll feel better when nailed on a hardtail. Don’t do it on a halfords special though.

Twas a battle through the icy wind and sleet today, but still felt better than if I hadn’t ventured out. Battling the elements is part of riding. Can’t wait til summer mind!

I agree. The ones you get in a box of celebrations are mega. Don’t really like whole hog mars bars.

I personally think its a sad day when you can no longer walk into a shop, flick through records or CDs and walk out of there with a load of random gems. I used to dj, and nothing matched the tune hunt that happened every week, as I listened to hundreds of vinyl tracks on the shop turntables. Going from shop to shop in pursuit of the next big tune. Hmv in Leeds used to have a cracking atmosphere and was one of the shops on the tune hunt route in the city. All have now shut as they have succumbed to the digital age. I’m not some old fart whos down on the internet, but I think its a sad day when every purchase or interaction we make is faceless. Plus Hmv is the only shop I want to go in when the missus drags me round the shops! Where am I going to escape to now? Bloody Apple store!?!

Never one to dismiss any form of cycling. Got a road bike and mtb, prefer mtbing “coz thems me rootz!”, but enjoy both. It does seem there’s a lot more to it than what I originally thought. I.e devout roadies just being stubborn! Been looking at cyclocross bikes, and they seem pretty nifty. Might get one, even if it just makes going round the 8 at gisburn a bit more exciting.

Why is it quick jobs are the ones that go wrong and take ages

I have a real problem with this, so much so that I’d sooner do repairs after getting home after a damaging ride. Rather that than face the inevitable hatred of inanimate objects, swearing and drop kicking before my next ride!

Im sure doing these courses on a mountain bike would be easy, and probably pretty dull. Why teeter down a perfectly good hill on a racer when you could blast down it on a mtb.

Iv been to the trail centre a few times and enjoyed it. Does the event take in all of the altura trail? If so what does the rest of it consist of?

Organisers often say these sort of events arnt races. But then post the fastest times on the internet! Recipe for disaster!

Don’t think it is escalating. Your always gonna get the odd loony. Don’t think there is any need to react to the actions of a few pillocks. The current talk of bringing back terraces, modern designs of which include gated pens would be an interesting new addition.

Njee ur right. Did three seperate ones when I was at uni for extra moolah. Totally safe, 3 square meals. Bit boring but you’re earning and not spending. Although dunno if they’ll have someone after an operation.

Bit of a nothing kind of guy ain’t he. Not funny or talented and now a prowler. I hated those programs when he tried reuniting star wars cast members and so on. Hey I heard the BBC put all that jewelery around Jimmys neck back in the 70s so that the kiddies could hear him coming.

Mondeos are good cars. Depends on what you want to spend. I’ve had mondeos as company cars for the last 8 years and they’re great. Reliable, good on fuel, comfortable. Nice cars and you can get them quite cheap.

I feel its more important what you eat the day/night before a big ride. Get plenty of good carbs in with greens and fruit juices. Gets your glycogen/immune system levels good and ready. More easily absorbed carbs in the morning, a bucket full of porridge with grapes and honey work for me. During the ride granary bread with peanut butter and jam is my fav. Giving you protein, carbs and sugars. Topped up with bananas plenty of go gels and electrolyte based drink. Works for me?

Take the time to get it healed then take it steady when you go back. Like lolly suggests get a labourer to do all heavy lifting. You could also try online poker, sell some stuff on eBay or sign up for medical testing!

I go for spin bike in the gym. Resistance control gives similar feel to the real thing. Wouldnt bother with cross or treadmill. Go for spin bike and step machine.
