Been with them for about six years and I think their the best value for money out there. Service wise no probs and their 3G is very good.

If the stamps in the service book are from a main dealer you can ring the service dept , give them the reg number and they’ll confirm exactly what was done.

Anyone had a diesel vacuum pump fail ?
In normal driving brakes are ‘normal’, but servo assist goes after 2 pumps of the pedal , so pedal becomes solid, and brake force decreases.
There is a suck on the vacuum pipe, but i have no idea how much there should be. It could also be one way valve failure in the servo booster?
    vw passat 1.9tdi pd .

Got the same car and had more or less same problem.
But local garage found a leak on one of the vac pipes and it was a pretty simple fix.

You can buy a bleed nipple from your local car spares shop for about 50p. Mineral oil is the same as the Citroen hydraulic fluid about a fiver a litre. Bit of hose and a syringe and you’ll have a bleed kit with loads of fluid for less then a tenner.

Normally comes with a pipe you cut to size and a rubber bit that fits in the pan. You should be able to adapt it .

I ran my last Passat for seven years and it had 250k+ on the clock when I sold it. Apart from regular stuff like servicing , brakes and clutch little else went wrong. Bought another just under two years ago that’s on 208k and do far so good.

I fitted a set in my car a few weeks ago and was a pretty straightforward job.
Were definitely out of line so got local MOT station to line them up.
    Big improvement over the halogens.

    Try this guy : thebikepimp.com

Used to use him when I lived in Reading , he’s a proper bike nut and a top rider. Prices were reasonable to. I think he’s based near Pangbourne but does do local pickups/delivery for free.

Makita 18v combo drill and impact driver , couldn’t live without them. Been faultless since 2008.

Makita 18v collated driver for drylinig. Just makes life so much easier.

Have also used Festool planers and drills , good but expensive.

A mate has an old Elektra Beckum mitre saw. The cutting action is super smooth , very fine machine

5’11” here and always gone medium. Ride a 575 at the moment and it’s bob on. Did have a large Stumpy FSR once but found it a bit cumbersome.

Jap diesel engines were never as good as the petrols they make. If your buying from new VW have just launched their Amarok maybe worth a look.

I’ve never ridden a 5 Spot but am on my second 575 and it’s brilliant. Good climber and carpet like ride on descents. Built mine with x9 , Revelation 150 mm forks and Hope/DT Swiss wheels and it’s about 27lbs. Got to ride aone of the new carbon Stumpjumpers recently but wasn’t impressed with it in comparison to the Yeti.

If your heading towards Rochdale you need to turn around as that’s in the opposite direction. When you get to the top of the link track take the fork towards the right and stay on the bridleway will come up on your left.

I have seen this many times on the motorways and I sympathise with you. Yeah theirs slow drivers out there and some sit in the middle lane but if your a normal person you just go round them on the outside. People should just drive their own cars and not use them to give others driving lessons by intimidating them. It’s actually quite dangerous.

I accidentally used the green pump a few weeks ago and put about twelve quids worth of petrol in .

Just filled it with diesel and chucked in a bottle of Forte diesel additive. No probs what so ever in starting or running. I’ve done this quite a few times over the years without any problem

Do agree though newer cars are much more sensitive to the point you’ve got to be careful which fuel additives you can use.

Just had a do weighing the bike had to improvise with bathroom scale and a length of floorboard. All in Carrera was 11.1kg. I also weighed my daughters Hotrock 20″ using the same method and it was 13.1kg.

Hotrock felt heavier soon as I picked it up but its a few years older and is well built.

    Hope that helps.

I bought my lad one of those Carreras last year and it’s been spot on. Gear need a bit of a tweak but otherwise nothing to report. We’ve regularly done 10 mile plus rides and he did the best part of a day with me at Swinley at Easter , so no weight or fork issues.I think you get a bit more off if you pay online.

A mate of mine had a similar problem car kept cutting out randomly .

It turned out to be the immobiliser switch on the fuel pump and was an easy fix. Was also a VW but Passat 96 model.

Funny Games. Brilliant film but nobody I know has seen it.
The original German version is also very good

I’ve seen it and it’s a bit on the dark side Derek.

Very sorry to hear about your dad fella , I lost both my parents to cancer mum eight years ago and dad two and a half. I still miss my dad as it wasn’t so long ago but I take solace from the fact that he had a good long life. It’s not easy but as jtotheP68 says above let it out and over time things get better.

My mates bike got stole from outside his house , he’d just got back from a ride and nipped indoors to find it gone. It was nothing special , Carrera frame and bits we just had lying around but thats all he had. Plus it was the second time it had happened.

A month or so later I was driving along when I caught a glimpse of a guy on a similar looking bike. I turned around drove past him and sure enough it was the same bike. I just pulled over and took it off him , dismantled and put it in the car. So yeah you can be lucky at times.

I accept Stuueys point but in all honesty that small tub of cream is still at home barely used. Whilst I dont know how long you ate chips for my sons problems diminished over the fortnight he used the medicine and never came back.

About 5 years ago my started to get a rash on his legs which got worse and developed into eczema. GP prescribed some E45 cream initially and then some other ointment. Things werent getting better and the GP suggested the next stage was prescribing steroid based medicine.

A friend of mine who had suffered from the same problem since we were kids told me to visit a Chinese clinic , which he claimed would cure the problem. This fella gave us two weeks supply of herbal drinks , a bath soak and a small pot of cream.

Sure enough it cured the problem and hes never had it since.

So in this case yes Chinese medicine did work.

Agree with CHB does sound like a lot of money. Bear in mind your 900 was a proper Saab but most newer ones are glorified Vauxhalls.

U31called the police who redirected me to the local council who said they would have to put , "sound measures" , in place. The people living either side have lived their for over 35 years and the old dear at the back in her nineties even longer. So why should we wait the authorities ? A firm word is all that it took.

Please Frankenstein wake up he wasn't voted in he assumed power.
Elections in most third world countries don't work like GB. Your told who to vote for and you do it if you know what's good for you.

I do accept your point though about the behaviour of some Pakistanis but there's also a flip side to that. I've had some real chavs move in across the road a few weeks back and they weren't letting anyone have any peace due to all night MCing. Do I now take them as representatives of the White community on the whole or accept that within a cross section of every group out there people like this exist. So if I deal with them does that make me a P@&! B&£@!?).
