that’s odd because mine pressed in OK (using slick honey grease) but it just kept popping out again. As far as I could see the wiper was in all the way.

Thanks for the info, I’d not thought of checking the two bearings (top and bottom) in case I’ve got them the wrong way. Also it’s not a split race so I might have been supplied with the wrong one?

That’s just slight discolouration, not even deep corrosion. Grease, fit and forget.

Cheers for the tip, I was more worried about the gap between the bottom of the bearing and the surface of the crown race?

See if you can contact Pedalhead, he had an MR2 Roadster with a proper purpose designed rack on the back of that, so I imagine there would be a similar one for the MX5

Took me a few reads of various guides to get it straight in my mind, the ‘loose’ oil in each leg is there purely for lubrication, so the slicker it is and the ‘clingier’ to the stanchions it is the better, right?

I have some TALAS 36’s that I’m about the swap the seals for Enduro ones, and clean everything up while I’m at it.

The Enduro fitting guide recommends using fully synthetic motor oil, I have some Castrol Magnatex 5w/40 (I think if I remember correctly) that I’m planning on using, does anyone else use motor oil? if so how are the results?

if its on fast decents, are you sure you don’t just need an inner tube on the fork?

Err, not sure what you mean? Can’t work out if this was constructive or a pop?

Have you seen that wiggle have saints in the sale at the moment, levers are £80 for pair with hoses and oil and calipers are £70 each.

Not exactly cheap but a good saving on retail.

I guess the last question is which way then?

In real world terms what does turning each knob towards + do compared to towards –

e.g. on the rebound knob the + means more damping so slower rebound. (I think :? )

    Any use?

Ah I see, I now understand why the sticker next to the compression adjusters have wavy and square lines on it :)

If I remember rightly I think I set them up with about 25-30% sag.

The RC2 has high speed and low speed compression, and that’s the bit I’m struggling to understand how each affects the fork, which should I adjust to make them more active over the small stuff?

Lol.. that is flipping hilarious. Entirely aside from their bikes and riding clothes, it’s just about the finest display of utterly incompetent riding I’ve ever seen

The crowd are loving it though. They should do more races like that. The bikes must be flat bars, cantis, SPDs, 150mm stem, 1.9″ tyres, you must wear purple lycra and have been MTBing for less than a year. And the courses must be very fast.

That would make top quality telly.

molgrips, watching the video and then reading your comment had me laughing so much I actually threw up, just what I needed keep it up :-)

Another vote for Islabikes, my daughter had a Spesh Hotrock for a little while but she couldn’t get on with the coaster brake so I got her a cnoc 16. This has two conventional brakes so is much easier to get started as she can back pedal to get the pedals to the correct position to start off.

This Sunday was her 2nd proper ride on it (as opposed to riding around the estate) and she did 12.5 miles over 2.5 hours and loved every minute of it, she’s 4 years old BTW

Got the prestaflator direct from the manu in the US. can’t remember the total cost but is wasn’t silly, and it arrived fairly quickly too.

I have the aldi compressor and this Prestaflator[/url] and the combination works well, even with a wire bead high roller with a few kinks in them from being posted.

Pedalhead, you are free to pop round any time and have a look

First of all I do not condone red light jumping by anyone, bike or car.
I think that the guy with the camera is using his knowledge of the law (I think I’ve read some of the types of things he was asking) and the policeman was showing his lack of knowledge.
It the policeman’s job to know the law or at least the bits that affect his day to day job.
I think the policeman could have played it differently, was there anything to be gained by writing a ticket and fining the other chap? But the camera guy was being quite condescending with his tone.
I hope that if nothing else comes of this the police man makes sure that next time he stops someone for an offence he has done his ‘home work’ and knows the law that has been broken or at least has the correct wording for the offence written down.

Sister Wendy has the right sort of advice for threads like this.

Go on then, I can’t find what you are referring to, please enlighten me.

As it could be at the most a grammatical error, but given that the title isn’t actually a sentence it’s debatable, I would make sure you are correct yourself before giving advice to others

Thanks for comments, it is a short holiday I’m going on, I imagine I’ll add more photos and a bit more content after I get back but it will essentially stop once the holiday is over.

The ads are because I’m experimenting with google adsense as well as blogging and if it makes a few pence then all the better.

Freeride for wuss’es, who are unfit so can’t ride XC out of embaresment, so ride XC on freeride bikes and excuse their speed with their suspension/weight/saving energy for the downs, however they can’t actualy drop or jump.

At least I’m not alone in this category then :P

my “all mountain” build is 33lb (sorry 15KG) so quite heavy compared to what’s mentioned above

I have offered one up to the hub and yes it does fit over the running gear and holes/studs appear to match up, but I’ve read that running the incorrect offset can adversely affect the handling of the car.

I always wear daily disposable lenses when riding and always wear riding glasses even if it’s just with a clear lens.

No way I want stuff hitting me in the eyes!

What do you mean by a proper ride?

There are no trail centres (that I know of) in the area, there is Croft wood or stuff on and around the ridgeway

    What are you looking for?

So what we really need then is for someone to invent a brake that works on the rim!

Buell m/c’s do or did this. Good idea, but never really that good when I tried them.

    you mean like this

About a year ago I purchased my first Mac (MacBook Pro) after years of using a PC laptop and I love it.

For “productivity” I can’t fault it, I use iWork and iLife and for my needs I find them better than the M$ equivalents.

I am never left feeling I wish it was faster unlike pretty much every PC laptop I’ve used.

I’m not some Mac fanboy I still use a Quad core Desktop PC for intensive applications but for everything else the MBP is my first choice.

Thanks for all the advise, there are definitely some areas that I can look at straight away and also I think I need to spend a bit more time in the saddle to get more a feel for it.
