Sue – I’ve done a lot of getting on trains with a touring bike – if you’re booking a train in advance, use East Coast Express – you can actually book a bike there. Or get your ticket, then go to a (preferably small) railway station and ask for a bike reservation – they’ve never failed me yet, although one trip he struggled to get a booking, but gave me a printed A4 page that said bike reservation – when I got on that train it turned out there were also 4 others with bike reservations, so I reckon he somehow fiddled it!
Virgin trains are the only ones I’ve ever had any problem without a reservation though – all the others have been fine.
Having said all that, I do of course recognise your need for a new bike 😉

I spend most days standing around on street corners.
    I don’t earn very much.
    Chugger?

No, would it help if I add I don’t wear any knickers?

    OK , 2 more guesses

    Firstly . Kinky Traffic Warden?

    Secondly , Mobile swimming instructor?
    No.
    I don’t think I should tell, it’s not actually that interesting…

    Stop / Go board operative?
No, if I did that I’d get sacked for not letting any 4×4 cars through!

    Bike messenger.
No, I’d be riding around streets then, not standing on street corners…

Typical … me and emsz offer virtual snogs if you stay off the fags … while TJ promises to pucker up if you fall off the non-smoking wagon

… so what do you do? Yup, start puffing away!

S’OK, us girls can take the hint
    Hmmm, maybe that’s why I’m failing 😕
I should have quit yesterday, after losing my baccy out of my pocket while out riding at Rivi – but no, I stopped at a shop on the way home 😳
There seems to be too much crap going on in my head at the moment, but I will stop soon…
    I will…
    I will…

The old M reg Mondeo estate finally went to the great car park in the sky earlier this year. I now have a T reg Astra, which will again be kept until it dies. I don’t see the point in changing cars if the one I’ve got still works.

Seven of us girls were out for a lovely ride at Rivington – and one of ’em even had a jet washer for cleaning my bike afterwards 🙂

Many years after a bit of a fling with a married man at my tennis club (I was 16,he was 32) I realised he was my children’s English teacher at their secondary school – we did have quite a long chat one parents’ evening, but he hadn’t aged well 😕

What a cynical bunch you are – is it not just possible that two sensible people have agreed that they do not need to sue the pants off each other??

*practises hugs for next week, being somewhat out of practise these days*
Is there a plan for meeting up?

As a 5’8″ lady, I always make sure I stand downhill of my shorter female riding buddies for photos – I don’t want to look like a giant!
And even I get asked to reach things off the top shelves in the shops (no, not those magazines!)

Oooh ‘eck morgs, that’s really shit for you – sending you hugs.
On a personal note – I have still cut down, but it ain’t helped working this week with a couple of colleagues who smoke.
Are you still going for drinkies next week? Can I still come along and will someone beat me with a big stick into actually quitting completely?

Feeling lazy and tired (28 miles cycle commute today), so sweet n sour chicken and rice ready meal – so often I can’t be arsed to cook!

Ok, I’ll be honest – I haven’t cut em out completely today, but only had three so far. I was just about to light up another when I saw TJ puckering up 😕 Maybe I won’t!

Hmmm, ok, I’ll give it another go – even cutting down for a couple of days last week made a difference to my lungs 🙂
Does that mean I get to go for drinkies with you guys? Only problem is, I don’t like curry!

Oh dear, seems I’m a failure at quitting, as well as all the other things I’m a failure at 😥
But well done chaps – keep up the good work.

First Sunday off work for weeks, and first proper mtb ride in months for me. Great day out, despite the fog and an hour and half hanging around for a friend (who went to the wrong place, then got lost, then gave up and went home).
Lamb shank for dinner, soon to be followed by an hour’s soak in a hot bath. 😀

My old Mondeo estate (M reg) needed too much spending on it for it’s last MoT, had to scrap it 😥
My current car (T reg Astra) cost me nothing – it was given to me by a friend – can’t get cheaper than that 🙂

Liver? Disgusting stuff, why anyone would want to eat it is beyond me.

My daughter hardly ate anything when she was little – chicken fingers were on the menu most days – just chicken fingers, nothing else! I remember going to France for a summer holiday, and all she ate was pan-au-chocolate, which became known as chocolate bread. She was very, very rarely ill though. I gave up worrying and trying to make her eat stuff she didn’t like, and just gave her what I knew she’d eat.
These days. as a 28 year-old, she eats way more different foods than I do!

I’ve only read the first page, and now jumped to the end – cos I can’t be ar£ed to read all the arguing and also everyone repeating what someone else has said.
Personally, I’m happy to accept that we’re all different, and all have our own opinions.
As with this thread, if it doesn’t appear to be interesting, I’ll simply not read it.
