In the examples given (mother on her own, young baby)it’s not really possible to fold up and stow the buggy, unless someone else offers to help.

Of course it is possible – I used to do it. Mothers become extremely adept at doing all sorts of seemingly impossible tasks whilst holding a baby, they have to!

    Women can enjoy it?

It can often be down to the woman’s partner. I enjoy it 😀

Update – I’m still off the cigs – so that’s been, errrm, two or three or four weeks now 🙂
    How’s other folks doing?

Never mind farting, there was a guy in the cinema toilets the other week using his touch screen smartphone two-handed while stood at the urinal.

So he’d only got a very small one then?

This is what the highway code has to say if you want to be specific.

keep both hands on the handlebars except when signalling or changing gear
keep both feet on the pedals
never ride more than two abreast, and ride in single file on narrow or busy roads and when riding round bends
not ride close behind another vehicle
not carry anything which will affect your balance or may get tangled up with your wheels or chain
be considerate of other road users, particularly blind and partially sighted pedestrians. Let them know you are there when necessary, for example, by ringing your bell if you have one. It is recommended that a bell be fitted
Two important words precede the above – “You should”…

Driving one of the work vans today, got out and got a big static shock – my colleague heard the crack. I must remember the two tips – drive around naked and hold something metal as I get out.

I’d also say no to trousers. I wouldn’t subject the world to a view of my bum in lycra, so always wear a cycling skirt over tights, 3/4s or shorts.

I like the sound of Marmite and Dairylea – must try that.
I should mention that for a while, many years ago, I was responsible for tasting Marmite and passing or failing it 😀 And Bovril 😀

I frequently take my bike on trains with no problems – the only ones I’ve ever had problems with are Virgin – they often (although not always) insist on a bike reservation.

Trackstanding? What’s the point? It’s much more relaxing to just put a foot down 😀

My commute varies depending on where I’m working – if it’s only 4 miles I have to look for a longer route home. Monday was a good ride home – 22 miles along the TPT.
If I’m heading down Sale/Alty direction from Whalley Range, I go down by Jackson’s Boat, not sure if that would help with a route to Salford Quays?

    Poor, sad, lonely, neglected Tracey!
I reckon some of your old biking buddies may still be out there – in fact I did bump into one of them up near Ladybower a couple of weeks ago – along with his trail hound.

But I have only seen a photo so far as it’s at my other half’s house 🙁

Maybe Madam would prefer a large Safire Expert Carbon instead (the very last one on the shelf in fact!)?

    Ooohhhh, wow, yippee, yesssss!!

Maybe, but I’m not telling my other statistics 😳

I have a medium 2008 Myka FSR – it is definitely about 2 inches longer than the Saffire. I’m 5’8″ with a 33″ inside leg and I really want one of those large Mykas as I’ve always thought my medium is a tad small – can anyone lend me £200????

If you want very small pack size, very lightweight – Vaude Norssken.
Bigger and heavier, have a look at the Multimat range – they do very thick ones, so super comfy!

This weekend is, I think, the time to ditch the Honeyrose – then I’ll be totally clean 🙂

That’s now 8 days of the Honeyrose stuff – the first few days I did mix in some real baccy, but the last few days it’s just been Honeyrose – so I guess I’m off nicotine now, and no reason really to keep smoking the Honeyrose, apart from out of habit?

mountain bikers being mountain bikers, just take you as they find you cos you ride bikes and that’s all that matters

Sort of along the same lines, quoting myself – “going to meet some strange bloke off the internet, it’ll be fine, he’s a mountain biker”

Celebrate the fact that getting older means you no longer have to conform to society’s expectations. Or, to put it another way, enjoy being an eccentric old man/woman 🙂

Is there a Greggs in Chorlton?

Even better there’s a Pound Bakery – yes, the clue’s in the name.
Some good advice from folks, but I’d be a little wary of considering Littleborough, Tod, etc, and using the train to get in to Manc – unless of course you’re really keen on feeling like a sardine, and getting (very) up close and personal with complete strangers. I’d avoid most bits of north east Manc, and lots of north Manc, although some bits of Prestwich are ok.
I’m in Whalley Range – seems ok here, and conveniently close to the city centre. It’s also known as ChoBo – Chorlton Borders!

Ooh, that’s a result already – having been smoking the herbal mixed with a tiny bit of real baccy since lunchtime, I thought I’d treat myself to a “real” rollie before bed, and I’ve had two drags on it and put it out! I don’t like it! Woo hoo 🙂

Bought some Honeyrose baccy today – it doesn’t taste anywhere near as bad as I feared. In actual fact it doesn’t really have much taste at all. I hope this plan works!

I’m thinking of mixing some normal baccy in with that Honeyrose, then gradually reducing the quantity – wonder if that’ll work?

I did the Atkins diet a few years ago and lost almost 5 stone – although I may have put a stone on again recently 😳 I still don’t eat potatoes, rice, pasta and not a lot of bread either, just a couple of slices for lunchtime sandwiches. Errm, cakes don’t contain many carbs – do they???
