I’ve gone with the Co-op this time too – you specify bikes over £1k, and pay extra for those, but still seems cheap. They don’t appear to specify any particular types of locks either, just that when away from home, bikes have to be locked to a fixed object.

I have a long narrow hallway in my flat, room for my three bikes. I often turn the handlebars of ones not in frequent use, so another parks beside it more easily. I have some of that plastic carpet protector matting too, so don’t worry about drips from wet bikes.
I have been known to clean bikes in the bath – that was when I discovered Cif bathroom mousse cleaner is an excellent de-greaser!
And, yes, wet tents are very difficult to deal with 😕

It’s just a car – it still works doesn’t?? Now if it had been a bike…

The headteacher I used to work for went out to “Simply the Best”.
The most caring man you could ever meet, taken way too early at 54, and quite simply, he was the best.

Just going back to the point about women’s ages – if I hadn’t, errrm, “altered” my age I would not have met my beloved, as he was looking for someone younger than my “real” age. I did confess on our first meeting though!

I actually complained to eHarmony and demanded they stop taking my membership payment – all the matches I got seemed to be men who liked watching tv or going to the pub – how the **** did that match my profile of cycling all day, every day???
As mentioned on t’other thread, I did find a lovely man on another site, when I’d almost given up. 😀

I found my lovely man on a dating website, although he is on here too, does that sort of count?
And as for girls looking like their bikes, mine is beautiful, bouncy and lightweight – the answer is obviously NO!

My mother left the turkey out in the (warm) kitchen after it was cooked on Christmas day until we all ate lots of it on Boxing day evening and no-one has died. Makes you wonder if we really need fridges?

Looking at today’s weather, my last ride is probably yesterday’s – in a group of 13 girls out at Rivington 😀

Too little is done for cyclist training and cyist don’t volunteer for it as it all done a pay basis

Free cycle training is available in Manchester, and other parts of the North West[/url] 🙂

I thought the girls were both better, but I guess all the largely female viewing audience were voting for Louis.

We’re just about to have some, errr, chocolate wine with our Tiramisu – oh, no sorry, it’s a “wine based drink”, only 87% of it is wine.

The only way to get your parcels from Yodel seems to be to “tweet” to yodelonline – they respond really quickly!! Tracking for mine said they tried to deliver at 4.30 and there was no-one there – an office, open til 5 or later? And of course, no-one could find the card they had “left”.
    Useless!!

So quiet at work I’m not even working – 26 days off now 🙂
And if they don’t want me at work, I’m not hanging around in Mancyland, so will be missing the Christmas party – they won’t miss me.

Not spending anything much on Christmas – we’ll be down at my parents, they buy all the stuff and I cook it for 7 of us 🙂

Ah, I was about to post then noticed I’ve been mentioned already 😉
I do expect my pack to last (maybe) til Friday. Can’t believe that they were only £1.50 though!

My colleague had her Marathon Winter spiked tyres on today – wish I’d got some, I was riding very, very carefully round corners today.

That said I’m trail building in the middle of a pine forest and there maybe the odd 7ft tree in the way…..

Hmmm, maybe we could all find one “in the way”? 😉

On second thoughts, there isn’t actually room for one in my flat, so I won’t bother.

    £40 for a 4′ tree in Chorlton – 😯
    A lot cheaper in B&Q I noticed – about £25 for a 6′, if I remember rightly. Edit – in fact I think that was for a pot-grown tree.

shecycles ride? muha muhahahaaar. (can I come?).

Men are only allowed if they’re brought along by a shecyclist, and then only if they are well trained, well behaved, and open gates and buy cups of tea. 🙂

I’ve just gone with Co-op – had to tell them about one of the bikes that’s over £1000. Covered away from home “if locked to a fixed object”.

Got some of them new Amazon lockers at a local shop – brilliant I thought, no more hassle with a courier not delivering.
Wrong, try and get Amazon to deliver something to them – apparently my Paclite jacket was “too big” to go in them. Never mind, the very nice courier rang me and managed to squeeze it through my letter box (not a euphemism).

So they are as bad as Yodel then? I ended up “tweeting” about Yodel on Friday, along with about a million other people still waiting for their deliveries! It worked, I got the parcel this morning – only a week late.
The power of social media, eh?

Check the tyres for the maximum pressure (should be on ’em somewhere) and inflate to that, or almost that.
What tights did you buy her? There’s a world of difference in the padding between cheap and more expensive ones. I know it comes down to what you can afford/want to pay, but surely no price is too high for the comfort of your lady’s sit-upon? 🙂

    LadyGresley

A big fat padded saddle is no good for a long ride. If she’s fairly new to commuting that distance, it is gonna hurt to start with, but will get better! Check her seat is high enough, too low and she’ll be putting all her weight on her sit-upon and none on her hands and feet.
If you are in Manchester as your profile suggest, seriously take a look at my link to FREE road skills training.
Narrower, smoother tyres are the simplest way to make a mtb a little easier to ride. I use Marathon Plus, so don’t have to worry (too much) about p***tures.
