Stuck near Belper? Have you closed your windows and locked your doors?

I’m puzzled by this idea of water running over a loose groundsheet – in over 30 years of camping in various tents (from a Cabanon frame tent to a two-man back-packing Terra Nova) I’ve never had a sewn in groundsheet in the porch, and never had any problem. The main advantage of the bathtub style is in keeping out the draughts. This then causes more condensation of course, the worst thing about nylon tents.

Washing cars? Isn’t that what rain’s for?? Trouble is, the rain doesn’t seem to get the moss off mine 😕

Do have a look at the Vaude Norrsken – it also has the two outer channels bigger than the others to prevent you rolling off, and it has insulation inside. I got it for a lot cheaper than the Neo-Airs and Alpkits, not sure of prices now, but I’m sure you too can work google!

No one buys actual Hoovers any more

That’s because if you’ve got one, you never need another, they go on for ever!

A Dyson is not a Hoover, neither is a Miele. They are vacuum cleaners!

The OP asked for Hoover recommendations.

Gave up about 10 months ago – still miss them though, but realise I’m much better off without!

Vaude Norrsken – superb comfort, warm as it has some insulation, very lighweight, packs very small, not “crisp packet” material, cheaper than a neo-air. All round winner 🙂

Born and first part of childhood in Sutton Coldfield, second half of childhood near Ashby-de-la-Zouch, then adulthood in Swadlincote(aka the Armpit of the Universe), now Manchester. It just seem to be going downhill.

In my fifties now, but I can still put my hands flat on the floor 🙂
Essential skill for putting socks on surely? I can’t lift my feet up towards me, cos I get cramp!

Interestingly, I have received an email from the Chesterfield store manager. Some of his comments follow :-

“I have been trying to put more emphasis on giving female customers that extra customer service because in a male dominated store I can understand why ladies would feel uneasy. I employed Clare in our road department last year and she has been great and I have ordered more ladies clothing as we know it is a growing area.

We are also getting involved more with ladies cycling clubs hopefully to build the profile and in the hope that more females will feel welcome.”

I have to give them credit for bothering to contact me, but unfortunately I’m now too far away to go in the store and check it out.

Ooh super, a new railway line that passes within a couple of miles of my parents’ house – shame the nearest station will be about 25 miles away.
What’s the point of a railway line without stations??

    A question for the OP:
Why do you feel the need to be such a sexist bleep?
Girls/women take their clothes off in as many different ways as boys/men do.
And as for calling you wife a domestic assistant, I only hope the poor woman sees sense one day and rides off onto the sunset without you.

Lol, that’s even funnier than the original post 😆 😀

PS You are joking, aren’t you??

I’ve been working as a NSI for the last five years in Manchester, most of the work in the week is in schools, but weekends are adult training. The company I work for has contracts with various local authorities to deliver the training.

I’ve been reading this all day, and still don’t know what to say.
As a parent I think I can imagine your pain, but in reality, I doubt I can.
Hugs to you and your lovely family.

Only a sprinkling of snow in Mancyland, but it’s also rained on top of it – like a skating rink out there! All melting nicely now with the sun out 🙂

Flapjack is made from oats – not seeds, not rice krispies, it’s oats.
It’s flapjack, not something you put out for the birds!

Those magazines aren’t old – the price is in new money!
Back in my day, they hadn’t invented “mountain bikes”, you just rode your Raleigh Shopper wherever you wanted, no problem!

    I don’t. But then I’m not a girl, I’m a Lady 🙂

My parents managed to order 5 x 5kg bags of sugar once – but I reckon that as they are aged 92 and 88, they’re doing pretty well to be ordering online!

Depends – if you’re under 30 you’ll only ever wear odd socks anyway, so you have to choose twice.

I’ve used them for years too, so much more comfortable than daily or monthly disposable ones, the are much more “jelly-like” so don’t dry out at all. Have to confess I wear a pair for more than a month, maybe two or even three 😳

Just booked a week on Skye at Easter, although I expect my brother will have some jobs for us to do in exchange for bed and food!
Hopefully a week or two of cycle touring in the summer, still want to get to Ireland.

I’ve recently discovered Sprayway All Day Rain Pants – about £63 from Go Outdoors. Not bike specific, but super comfy as they are super stretchy. Men’s and women’s versions available.
