First world problem – parents want kids, but don’t want to give up doing what they want to do, and have to look after their own kids. Not a dig at OP, just modern day parents in general 🙂

Aha – I spotted a Topeak phone pack attachment in there – whilst the phone pack is very small, I could maybe make something bigger.

There’s not really room for a frame bag between my (fat 😳 ) legs! And I need something that I can just take off very easily, so it’s a no to a carradice qr too, t’other half has one of those, and I’m always waiting for him to faff with it! I’m not really wanting a saddle bag, as the tent goes on top of the rack, so not a lot of room left.

I’ve got the Shimano 2300 levers with BB5s – they’re pretty crap despite lots of fiddling! I’d thought of upgrading to the BB7s, but doesn’t sound like they’re much better. Or does it come down to the levers then?

The campsite at Hollingworth Lake is quiet at night – I live there in my motorhome for about a year, and the only thing that disturbed me was the dawn chorus – **** noisy tweety birds!
There is a site at Higher Poynton, next to the Muddywood Middlewood Way for gentle cycling, and I lived on that one for a while too. Edit – very basic facilities at Poynton, unless it’s changed in the last three years.
