    …old fashioned carrot cake?!

Carrot cake is some new-fangled invention! Cake just shouldn’t contain vegetables!
As for these modern day so-called cup cakes, they’re all about looks and taste crap.

    Christmas shopping? What’s that then?

Sounds like a few folks should be using front and rear tie downs on their kayaks 😉
But no, we don’t either 😳
As for the OP, if the straps have failed, send ’em back to whoever you bought them from.

I don’t think it’s as easy as some think – I know I should be very content these days, but there’s still times I get really grumpy for very silly reasons. It seems as a “glass half empty type” the first reaction will be negative, no matter how much I don’t want to be like that. Mind, having read this, I’m now going to try to be positive about working with a difficult colleague today – but there I go, I’m not even at work yet and already calling him difficult!

Kenwood Chef – although I suspect the newer ones may not last as long as my old one, 47 years old and just about to be used to make my Christmas cake today 🙂

Last time someone bumped my old banger I wasn’t going to repair it, I told them just that. Made an old man’s day it did!

That would make those boring bits of road far more fun, although it may stop me concentrating on the traffic 😀

Err, if it’s heavy oak, could a toddler pull it over?
I don’t think we did anything to any of our furniture, but we did train both Little Darlings to not touch things they shouldn’t. Yes, that does take time and effort, but it also means they’re trained for when you go to shops, and other peoples houses.

As you’re posting on STW I presume you have a bike? 😉

Cos that’s not what I was talking about – you’re trying to get me to say ********* aren’t you?

There is a simple way to not get any adverts – but I can’t tell you or STW will ban me 🙁

Buy Earl Grey as teabags? Or simply use an old-fashioned teapot?

I had my passport stolen once ….

Thank you for reminding me – I need to renew mine.

Otherwise, I have no idea why I’m reading this thread, as some one “up there” said, that’s what insurance is for.

Now, if only someone would steal our Kangoo, then maybe I could persuade t’other half to get a VW Caddy Maxi…

We made the mistake of trying to cycle along the Prom last week (half term). It may be shared use, but I reckon the pedestrians had the Critical Mass!! The tram lines can sometimes make a suitable alternative route.

Trick is to get to know the local yoof – it helped working in the local school where I used to live. The local kids alaways greeted me very politely, and I never worried about walking home late at night 😀

I wonder who pays for this “free” childcare? If the parent cares for their own children (there’s a novel idea these days!) at home, can they claim the equivalent amount from us taxpayers?

As someone who was proud to say “I’ve never been to Blackpool”, I then moved in with my lovely man who’s lived there most of his life. It really is like lots of small towns, grotty in the centre, but nice in the suburbs. But you do have to avoid the centre at weekends, although cycling along the prom is fine, all the pissheads are in the bars.

As long as you keep away from the town centre, it’s ok. At this time of year there’ll be plenty of room to park on the prom down near the south end. Trams’ll be busy weekend evenings, but get on at Star Gate (southern end) and you’ll be ok.

Get a Hoover, after all they invented them.
(Waits to be proved wrong, this is STW after all)

20 – 23 miles of tough riding? Not for me I’m afraid, I may have to arrange a little 10 miles-ish bridleway bimble with Esme soon I think.
Have a good day out girls 😀

Trek Crossrip? Mine’s been all over the place, has mudguards and rear rack, and even has front rack mounts too. Although I have no idea how that compares to the others on the list!

Also done – and my comments are similar – needs to be light enough to carry when folded.

I wonder how many of the kids let on that their parents are doing their homework? My parents were both teachers – I had to do my homework myself!!

Try to do the Outer Hebs south to north – going t’other way meant days of only 25 miles struggling into headwinds! I did also discover if you stop and cry in the middle of the road, you can easily persuade your other half that a hotel is needed for the night!

Or was that “lattice work paving” really some ski slope dendix matting??

Shorts and short-sleeve top this morning, but jacket to go home – always contrary on the north west coast.

Should I mention that as well as seeing them fly, we actually got close enough to touch them both on the tarmac at Blackpool Airport? 😀

We’ll be watching some of the aircraft (including the two Lancs) coming and going from Blackpool Airport tomorrow, and going to the show on Sunday. I think £8 is cheap, most airshows will cost you way more than that!

Oooh, may have just found the ideal 3 man tent for cycle touring – my two man is a little tight for two of us. Thank you 🙂
    Edit: Now bought!

Due to the loan of a spare engine from the BBMF, the Canadian Lanc is hoping to be flying again by Tuesday for the three Lancs event at East Kirkby – it had better be, it’s a long drive from the Fylde coast to go and see it!

all my cycling near misses are with young women drivers.

And just to even that up, all my cycling near misses have been with middle-aged men 🙂

If (or if you’re like me, when) your horsefly bites swell up and get red hot, put ice on them, the relief is wonderful. I’ve tried anti-histamine creams and steroid creams, but they just don’t do anything.

Stop being a brand snob and get any balance bike with a brake – the kid will love it anyway! Save the money for when they get a pedal bike that needs to be a bit lighter to actually pedal up hills. Kids just aren’t going to push a balance bike uphill for very far whatever weight it is! My nephew had some cheapo ebay buy and still used it after he was pedalling on a proper bike – until it finally fell apart after using it maybe once too often through muddy puddles in the field by his house.
