Cool! What’s the best way to get olmpic park from Waterloo?

Did these last year and they were good fun / painfull 😉

Hog hill isn’t huge, but they manage to fit a good course in each week. As it’s on a hill, you’ve usually got at least two good climbs a lap.

You have quite a mix of abilities from racing snakes, to people there for a good time. Have a go! – what’s the worst that can happen!

That’s all assuming it’s running again this year!?

Yr probably better taking a screen grab really!

    Mr Blazin

In this sort of situation are you best to just take all the floorboards out? Then sort your pipe work out while you have access. Then fit waterproof / treated ply floor, with as little joins as possible to retain rigidity?

If so what thickness ply would you need then?

Then just lay the floor tiles as normal?

    It’s not about the bike!

Won on a 20 year old Raleigh Dyna-tech a year or so ago. Didn’t slow the Madison Genisis boys down either.

Good work trail builders! Looking forward to riding it to summer lightening!

Also looking forward to riding the other 99.9% of the Surrey hills that’s natural! 🙄

I presume you could use tube, then tap it out for threads?!

    Ok, great, thanks!

I’ve got my eye on a frame that would need respraying anyway, so wouldn’t matter about the paint. I just don’t like the look of the tabs and all the hardware you need to mount the caliper.

Depending on money, how about getting a session from someone like Adrian Timmis or Dan Fleeman, I’m sure they’d be able to point her in the right direction better than any books could!

Yes, find a clothing printer that either does screen printing (looks like it’s 2 colours, so shouldn’t be too expensive) or get them printed dye sublimated.

You’d think being South African he’d know about sunblock!

So, there’s a better way to summer lightning from the tower then? I usually go past the cricket pitch and then left at the bottom in coldharbour

Ordered tyres from them with no problems

How much can I expect to pick a 92/93 Kilauea/Explosive frame for? Some coming up for around £170, which seems quite a bit for an old bike frame!!?

Hope so, as Hog Hill is a mission to get to from SW London!

Are the defroster any better for having concealed fastenings? Any good full stop?

Shimanos look good, but my current Shimanos Velcro straps got clogged up with mud

I’ll do it for a pair of skinny Evisu’s

Obviously been told by people who haven’t ever built a bike! 30mins, no way! At least 2 hrs if they want a proper job done.

    Thanks. It’s a 93 I’m after I think, cherry red / titanium. Think they’re 1 1/8″ steerer

I really want to get a 90’s Kona frame to rebuild the Kilauea I had. What sus forks can you fit though? Do modern ones fit or do you need retro ones?

I’d get a set if you want a set of race day only wheels. You can get a really nice set of lightweight wheels that you can use for special events then

For races and TT’s yes. For general riding no. Unless you’ve got enough cash to keep a good amount of spares to put on when you puncture

Yes, thanks Shermer. Well worth the travelling!

Also nice to know there are shops that will help you and aren’t just about flogging you the most expensive kit! I’ve walked into a couple of shops round London and asked if they’d got bits so I could carry on and ride to races and they weren’t interested. Having worked in a bike shop myself I’d have done anything within reason to get people back on their bikes as it’s the kind of thing people remember for next time.

PCB spacers a great idea thanks! 🙂

If not then I was going to try drilling some plastic rod, thanks for those links everyone!

I’d been using Conti RS’s. I’ve got 2x X Kings, a Mountain king and a Race King in standard (?) version. Can’t fault them for grip etc, just to fragile.

Are the Conti tubeless versions any better?

And I presume I need the Maxxis LUST versions for tubeless ?

I run Mud X’s in winter and love them!!

Cheers! My mate uses the Crossmarks all year round, but the tread looks like it would clog to me in mud? Will check the Advantage out.

If anyone wonders/ed why any one would dope, Millars book explains why.

Hamiltons book pretty much explains what happened throught the LA years IMO

Cav can come across as hot headed and arrogant, but having attended an event he was guesting and seeing the time and patience he devoted to fans there that day, he comes across as a top bloke!

Leith Hill Tower apparently didn’t have any running water, hence why they were reluctant to fill bottles I should think. Might be different now. There is a pub in cold harbour that Ive filled up in before

He definitely doesn’t – I’ve seen him ride it in the mud, the rain, off drops, over jumps, down rocky things and he even crashes on it. It’s appalling behaviour.

Does he clean it occasionally, oil & lube it and keep it maintained as well?

It’s not about giving respect for the shop, well it is a bit, it’s showing whether you give a shit about your bike or not!

Maybe as the wheel was covered in dirt when you took it in (?) they thought you wouldn’t be that picky?

Hoping the 2.0 isn’t to much narrower, hopefully just not as high!
