I suspect the Lord of Light was keeping him alive for a reason too…….probably the installation of adequate lightning protection to BS EN 62305 Part 2 is part of the plot of series 7. Maybe.

    Glol!

Maybe Arya survived because of magic! 😉

If you’re not racing it then there’s no reason really! DA shifters will look lovely, and you get a nice crisp gearchange!

So, is there a cut-off age for Glasto, or do people of all ages go there?

Yes it’s the tube itself, not sure if that makes it any better! Does mean I can get proper downtime bosses put on at the same time as well.

    Cheers for suggestions so far!

None of the mountain bikers I ride past, off road or on road ever say hello back either! 🙂

I’m also not convinced about the preheat function, great for getting home but I wish there was some way to say ‘i want the temp to be 18c @ 6:30 but do not come on before 5am’ during the colder weather sometimes the heating was coming on at 4am to hit target temp by 6:30, adjusting for target temp to be reached later stopped the heating coming on until after I was up on milder nights.

Just add a lower temp during the night and it won’t pre-heat until the time you want!

i.e. I want mine to be 20ºc at 8:00am, and not come on in the night, so I set mine to 9ºc at around 12:00am

    Don’t have a beard though! 🙁

    Beards are so early 2015!

    I’m a Graphic Designer!

If you want to spend most of your 20’s & 30’s being skint then go for it!

I got together with my wife because she thought I looked like an Electrician! So maybe you’d be better doing that instead! 😀

I’m looking out for a watch for my birthday. Definitely won’t be getting a Tudor after these annoying adverts!!

Shame that enough income isn’t being made by the side adverts. Most newspapers (don’t know about mags) make most of their revenue from the advertising. I should imagine that ABC figures of the Evening Standard rocketed when that was made free, and so must have made them quite sought after for ad space?

So just saying I suppose that people shouldn’t dismiss people who don’t pay to use this forum, they have their uses!!

    That usually ends well.

What a helpful informative comment! Thanks!

We’ve got similar in our House (100 years old) What puzzles me though is why we only have a cellar under on room, when our neibours houses have cellars that are under the whole house?

Also if you have ‘half’ a cellar, can you just dig it out.? Or do you have to extended the foundations down etc?

Thanks Timmer, good to know that’s what I should be expecting to pay

I presume he couldn’t certify it at the end though?

To be honest I would like to give it a go myself, the lack of chimney complicates things a bit though! I’ve read the stove fitters manual website, and while I’m not going to say it looks straightforward, as I think that discredits people who do it for a living, it does look like something someone competent can do.

Just for background I worked for a friend at her plumbing company for a year and have helped install flue liners etc so have some diy skillz!

Other guy has got back to me – £1650, plus the cost of scaffolding! Is that a good price? 😕

Sorry, had to re-write the original post and forgot to say we already have the stove.

I’ll give Wakeford Fires a call then thanks!

Yes, most have been doing so for a few years. I ran a 36t 1×10 on 26″ wheels, and only twice did I have issues at the bottom end in 4 years use (Margam and Mayhem last year, both in the wet). How strong are you?!

Strong, but not light being over six foot!

Do many XC racers use single chainrings?

Just gone 32×36 on my 26’er and its fine for everything but the steepest stuff. Just wondering if I’d run out of gears for racing though?

    Try Velosport in Putney

I know they do demo bikes, but not sure if they would hire one? Worth a try though

I stopped giving money to Homless people when I saw one pull out a mobile phone as I walked by a few years ago.

Bought a homeless guy who used to beg at our offices a box of mince pies at Christmas though. The £30 my boss gave him to buy a pair of work shoes for a job interview never got spent on the shoes though!

    Pretty obvious!

If you head down towards cold harbour way, the track starts pretty immediately to your left.

When you get to the bottom of the first section, make sure you follow the little sign for summer lightning and it will take you up a sweeping left hander to the start of the next section.

Then when this is finished by the cricket pitch, follow on towards cold harbour again, and it is on your left just after the field.

They’ve done a great job! As good as any trail center!

Glad to see Raleigh making ”proper’ bikes again, but not keen on the colour schemes myself. Would be great to see the old blue and white team colours on some of the bikes as Team Raleigh have retro kit now.

My first three race bikes were raleighs, and up until last year my training bikes was a much loved Raleigh team ti until it broke 🙁

Do you get points for ‘winning’ a sportive now then?

Cheers guys, some useful starting points there.

If I use the circ saw I’ve got with a decent blade instead of the cheap one it came with, will I get a decent enough edge to cut the boards to size and just be able to plane / sand to finish it off?

Yeah, if your not told there’s a road race on it must be easy to miss a lead car with flashing lights and a ‘race’ board on top, a couple of motorcycle outriders, marshals standing in the road with high vis and flags and cyclists racing in a bunch!

If your going to wear a tie then you should go all the way. Proper suit, proper shoes and suit jacket. Some of the scruffiness people I’ve seen at work have just worn trousers, shirt and tie.

Likewise, you can look extremely smart wearing a nicely cut pair of jeans and a decent shirt and shoes, and I’ve seen some people pull this off very well.

I thinking of doing the same just so i can get the frame in the colour I want! (And to get rid of horrible Avid brakes!)

Then you should wear leggings instead … much much more comfortable.

    Ah! Jeggings! Good idea!

One of the reasons I left my last job!

Love riding to work in my skinny jeans now! Only problem is that they get a bit tight round the groinal area when your riding if you know what I mean! 🙂

Cheers Haggis, just what I wanted to know!

If that’s the case then I’d like to source a Kilauea or Explosive frame from 94 on, fit rear disc mounts and respray to 93 Kilauea colours. Then add a 100mm fork

Cheers wozza, does it work ok with the 120mm travel forks? What travel was the frame designed for?

    Ladders

Thanks for the retro bike link, will check that out!

I’d really like something that can use fairly modern forks, but not bothered about huge travel

    Can’t wait!

Anyone know what the course will be like? Is it a fixed circuit sort of thing?
