Looks like a really fun bike :D My mate rides something a bit similar and it is his favorite. xc, downhill, dirt jumps the whole shebang.

Put my order in and 2 weeks later the lights turned up. No worries. Wouldn’t hesitate to order from them again.

Because hitting a great bit of singletrack is one of the best feelings in the world.

I’ve watched the dickhead video loads of times and it still makes me laugh :-)

Phrase that is stuck in my head at the moment? I love lasagna

I’m looking to get better at jumping, railing corners, and steep technical stuff. I’ve just got back into it and thankfully the stuff I learned as a yoof is still there, so I don’t think it will be too long before I am clearing small table tops :D

I bloody loved follow me, amazing cinematography, great music and some brilliant riding.

The collective and clay porter make the best mtb videos i’ve seen so far.

Looking forward to life cycles, trailer looks great.

How much difference is there between a bike from 2000 compared to 2010?

Depends on what you count as difference, and what type of bike. I think there have been big changes in all mountain/trail bikes, but ones with more specific uses are much the same.
I’ve got a 2001 santa cruz superlight, 9 years on, the latest frame is a bit stiffer, and you can get stiffer forks, cranks and a slightly slicker gear change, but apart from that, the same bike with 10 years newer technology will still give pretty much identical performance for its intended task.
    Ditto a SS inbred.

When compared to bikes from 1990 and 2000?

Two words: Nitro circus. The guys in this are crazier than just about anyone on the planet.

Freestyle mx + basejumping + grand canyon = great entertainment

I’m going for ragley, simply because their bikes have cooler names. Must factor this kind of thing in when buying a bike.

I’d rather own a ‘blue pig’ than a ‘456’ anyday.

I definitely forgot that I loved it. I don’t think I ever thought it was sh*t, just that other stuff came up that was more fun at the time (driving, parties, drugs, girls….girls are still more fun than mountain biking)

It has got a whole lot better since the 90’s, I got front suspension for the first time 3 months ago and couldn’t believe the difference. 90’s bikes seem like road racers with different wheels and bars now.

Cheers julian, that is what I had hoped. It was not a paypal ‘gift’ so the seller will have paid some fees.

Either is fine. Canon used to have the edge over Nikon, but in recent years there is not much in it.

An SLR is built around lenses and both companies make decent glass, as do some of the cheaper manufacturers (although quality control is not as good)

Spend money on a decent lens rather than loads on a body and shit glass.

Damm and there was me worrying about a massive boulder falling from the sky!

What i’m curious about is the change in handling by altering the head angle.

I’d be aiming for something lighter.

My 456 came in at under 30lbs with 2.4 tyres and a pair of Fox 36’s.

I wouldn’t complain if it was lighter, but I doubt that it will be considering my budget.

Thought it was just too big to be a medium… what year model is it, did you figure it out?

Just waiting to hear back from FTW. He asked me to send him some pictures so he can have a go at identifying it.

Thanks mboy, really helpful. I have no clue about hollowtech etc, last time I was riding it was square bb and not much else!

I’d be interested to see what you have chakaping, will send you an email.

Pretty much looking for second hand bits only as I’ll get more for my money. Cheers for the suggestions so far :-)
