I’m with you Derek. Yesterday after noon, there was a couple on the trail here, on MTBs with 2 dogs off leads which were chasing everyone on bikes and I had to stop and eventually ride across grass onto a footpath to avoid them.
If I had a gun I would have shot them.

You have to grunt when you crouch to pick something up whether it be a child or a newspaper.

Where do they think more money is going to come from to pour into the public sector black hole? These protests are going on all over Europe to no avail.
I can understand your concern of course, if you are employed within the public sector but the system has been hugely abused and is bloated and inefficient now.

The spanish drive like morons, whether you are on a bike or not.

some of them do, but luckily where I am it’s kitted out with excellent cycle paths and crossings. I’m starting to be able to predict the driving habits when in the car now too- I actually reckon Madrid is better than London to drive in

100% alone. Cyclists are dicks, generally.

I think this pasttime appeals to the socially inept so, some truth here I reckon.
Almost all of my rides are alone because I have no mates where I currently live and few of my long term mates back home are into it. It also takes some organising and it;s good just to get up and go.
    I like group rides though.

Joking apart- as muppetwrangler said, what is it that worries you about it? Did splitting up cause a lot of hurt? Is she a psycho? Do you still have feelings for her?

Tou’ll get a 10 year old Porsche 911 for that price and the kids will fit snugly in the back. Doesn’t have 4 doors but will be lots of fun.

HAGGIS FTW. Sliced and fried and then wash the whole lot down with a pint of ale. May help to have someone available that knows CPR.

    There are a few…
Mate and I didn’t like a lad at 6th form college…so one night Nick shat in a newspaper and scrunched it up…put it on his doorstep and lit it. We rang the door bell and scarpered…his dad came out and stamped all over it, obviously covering his feet in shxte while we watched from the other side of the street…hilarious at the time!

Ah yes. Sh!te alight. Those halcyon days….

Put cling film on the bog and my Gran pissed her trousers.
Shagged my sisters mate and then made her sleep in the shed while I went to bed…..
Put a banger in dogshit, ran across the road and it exploded all over me. A bit was on my lip.

Farted in a glass of milk and asked my gran to smell it. She said “Awwww don’t drink that son” and poured all of her milk down the sink.
Downed a pint of piss after being told it was home brew lager. Couldn’t tell the difference.

This is just the tip of the iceberg

I’ll be there at the weekend. Unfortunately will have the kids in tow or I would have hit the tit bar with you.
Like mogrim says, Mercado San Miguel is good on Sunday. Weather forecast looks decent and should be less tourists around now. Retiro park is nice. So is the zoo.

Eck, I live in Spain too and have sky tv. I have also got broadband in the house and 2 laptops but can’t get iPlayer, even when trying to use a UK ip address with ExpatShield.
    How do you access it?
I just brought my sky hd box from the UK and got local guys to fit a larger dish. It only has one lead and horizontal wave pickup so I miss a few channels and can only record what I’m watching, also don’t get sky anytime feature but otherwise it’s great.

Proceed with care. When I moved to Spain I declaired mine as 15 Kg and declared the extra case. They made me pay £200 to get on the plane saying it was overweight.
The Mrs kicked up hell and I’ve been refunded now but be warned.

Has anyone wondered why nothing has happend in Scotland or Wales?

If they did it in my town they’d be running away with a few birthday cards, 2nd hand books and some perm lotion from the hairdressers.

This is the best post so far.

    Really?

    Because this sounds like an incitement to violence to me;

We’ve got a chance now….. It was a message to the police – WE ARE NOT SCARED OF YOU. If the only response is force then we are sowing the seeds for more of the same.

    Great. Lovely.

No- I meant because it’s a possible insight into the mindset of these people. Once you can understand that then you can start to address the problem. I’m still at the stage where I can’t fully understand it.

They are disrespectful, thieving, opportunistic, lazy, selfish, greedy bastards.

So are the media, the bankers and the politicians. Actually you could aim a fair bit of that at the middle classes too couldn’t you?

What happened last night was an expression of our society. Like it or not it is actually up to us to sort this out. No-one else will. Prevention is always better than cure right? Yes, prosecute those involved and deter others from starting but creating conditions in communities where young people actually see a point to living with respect towards each other that doesn’t rely on weapons and violence is fundemental.

We’ve got a chance now. After this and the news international stuff there’s clear evidence that our structure has failed for those at the bottom whilst those at the top get richer. It needs to be changed or this will keep happening. What we saw last night was significant. It was a message to the police – WE ARE NOT SCARED OF YOU. If the only response is force then we are sowing the seeds for more of the same.

    Thats where we start.

Oh and it doesn’t matter who’s fault it is.

This is the best post so far. But what has been the ultimate cause? Is it capitalism? Will the system that gave us freedom and aspirations ultimately be our downfall? What are the alternatives and how can we undo the damage that’s been caused to the young generation? I think these events are simply the zeitgiest, but are currently overshadowing the other major issue here which is the impending economic collapse. There are definitely hard times ahead and likely worse to come.

The earthquake in Japan recently caused much greater suffering and displaced thousands yet there was no looting.
Hurricane Katrina caused similar damage and had widespread looting in New Orleans.
London and in other cities is seeing similar problems to New Orleans.
What have the japanese got right that we in the west got wrong?
Respect? Discipline? Sense of community spirit? FFS even the yakuza helped to deliver aid to the needy.
It’s not because they are poor neglected and needy. They are disrespectful, thieving, opportunistic, lazy, selfish, greedy bastards.

Would it not be similar to the riots in London earlier this year? A peaceful protest hijacked by others whose only purpose is to destroy, thieve and challenge the power of the police. If what aP says is true though it doesn’t sound like it was handled particularly well initially.

Yup, the student riots and that twunt that threw the fire extinguisher. Differences were that there was a proportionally smaller contingent who were there to cause trouble and much less damage caused. The levels of violence used in Tottenham is pretty shocking.

Police reports haven’t always proven to be the most accurate account of events when the police have been involved in a death.

Perhaps, but what about the reaction- burning and looting. This is just pure opportunism. These people will likely have no relationship with the dead guy or any political standpoint. One of the first ports of call for robbery was JJB sports FFS.
There will be millions of pounds of damage, hundreds who have lost their homes and businesses/jobs putting another huge burden on an already struggling economy.
