Hope didn't fare too well in that last big test in MBUK/WMB, X2 3 stars, M4 2 and a half, Race X2 2 and a half, V2 3 and a half. Not that reviews are always all that useful of course

I must admit to being a sucker for reviews. This is what has been swaying me towards the Formulas but also, if you look on mtbr website, it's whats making me reluctant to change from the ones I've got.

Still no chance of buying a legal beer though.

Ah yes- twice I almost poisoned myself with 'flash'. I was drunk after 1 glass and had a hangover the next day like I'd been run over.

These rug doctors are OK but IMHO you cannot beat wood/laminate floors for ease of cleaning. I have an OCD, perpetually cleaning missus which makes it even easier as I never have to touch it 😀

the problem being that most of these "light" brakes are heavier than what I've already got

That's the problem I have too. These BB7s are decent at stopping and weigh around the same per set as R1s or Elixir Cr, so for all that extra dosh there would have to be a marked increase in performance and reliability

The only things putting me off the Hope's was
    1. I have heard that they are under powered, and I'd hate to spend 300 odd quid and end up with no major improvement over my old brakes.
    2. If I go abroad I'll need to carry a spare set of everything for them.

Have you not had these problems with yours Young Dave riley?
    Which model are you using?

We had the icandy apple and it had all the attachments and could take the car seat directly in etc.
Had to change it 13 months later for a 2 seater when the wee lad came along

    V. nice. When I stayed in Tripoli we had an apartment in the Regatta compound, but I spent most of my time in the desert (nr. Chilo).
I left there in 2004 just as the Yanks were coming back in. I haven't been there since, but I've heard they're spending some serious money on rebuilding/improving the place.

Stop Torturing me, 10 days to go before any chance of a bacon butty, they dont serve them here in Libya and i miss decent quality sausages as well, they only have beef sausage here

When I worked in Libya and the ME I used to bring bacon and sausages over for some of the expats who were there permanent. Never caused me a problem- the customs folk were always too busy checking if I had any porn. The even used to confiscate FHM or GQ if I had one!!

Have you ever advised your folks NOT to sell something and been proved correct?

Yes, I advised my Mum not to sell crack on the streets. As a result she didn't become a crack whore and go to prison and her life is so much the better for it I reckon. She certainly seems happy anyway.

Depends how long it takes to get to Sydney from London. It's further south than melbourne and they don't do direct flights to either of these destinatations

My Santa Cruz Superlight ( http://www.singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/new-bike-build-1 ) is 24 lb exactly on my scales with pedals on. I built it up quite light but also with durable parts that will take some abuse and last a decent amount of time before needing replaced. I only have one bike and this one ticks all the boxes for me at the moment. Lightweight, fast, comfortable, tough, locks out fully rigid for using on the road and a good all rounder offroad with 120mm travel front and 100 rear.

I've got reba team 120mm on 20mm Maxle-lite and they are great. Only small drawback is that they don't feel as if they roll as freely as my old ones – I'm using a DT 4.2 rim on Hope pro 2 and used to have Mavic Crosstrails.

I believe there's a 'cheat' you can use here by removing the end cap and filling it with grease and putiing it on again, then repeating until the grease has been squeezed right through

Straight down but remember to use the spacer or if you dont have one, your fingers to get the correct cable tension for the 22T cog before you nip up onto the cable

You dont pay a percentage on the postage, only the sale valvue, so it benefits the seller rather than making a £200 min selling price

I would probably be freaked out too if it was my kid.
Interesting thread this- I like the variety of opinions on this topic. It seems that most people are skeptics towards the supernatural (myself included) which is reassuring.

My phone number (which is ex directory) used to belong to someone in a lot of debt but they didn't live at the house we moved into. I wonder how long BT waits before reissuing old telephone numbers because I get calls from people looking for them almost every day and they are extremely persistent when I say they have the wrong number and then they usually start trying to get detgails about me.
Does my nut in almost as much as those "are you the homeowner?"

    Fu&£ off!!
