Thanks for the leads here – This is the area I will be mainly based so I’ll dig into these sites you’ve shared.

    Cheers!

@superfli I find that the bike carrier mount needs to be right up against the lower cage mount screw. Does the zee allow this or do you mount a bit lower?

What capacity bottle do you use?

I read the instructions, and lo and behold I have now found a good solution just by adjusting the position of the rear adjustment thingy.

Thanks for your comments all. 🙂

Thanks all. The arms behind the ears are ok, I have managed to bend them down. It’s mainly at the front is the issue. The helmet pushed down on the top of the glasses and puts pressure on the nose. I’ll pull out the paperwork and have a shufty.

Wrecker, that looks like it’s for a 1×10 setup – not a 2 ring up front?

Julians: interesting observation. I would add mine were weighed on my bathroosm scales…

The Bikeradar trst rig had some pretty light wheels and a 2 x 10 setup. I need to edit my post – I’m embarassed to say it’s actually a 2 x 9 setup with a bash up front. I just assumed it was a 2 x 10 when I picked it up and never bothered to check but now having just finished putting a new cluster, chain and chain ring on I’m sure it’s a 2 x 9 🙂

I’m off to correct the blog…..

Yep, we’ve planned it ourselves, with a few pointers from Rick Harrison (ST mag #47). No-one guides this time of year as it’s too hot…

I had my carpal tunnel done at the same time as a radial fixation (steel plate in broken wrist). You’ll be fine, it will take a while before you can take hit’s on your palm without the risk of the scar splitting open. I’d recommend massaging the scar and applying something like bio-oil to it while it’s healing to prevent keyloid (sp?) scarring.

when all other bags are max 20kg and the overweight charge is £20/kg, I don’t want to find out at the airport that I need to stump up abother £200!

I also like their exchange rate for GBP to Euro – that will be 1:1 then

I moved from Brisbane. I 1st lived in Bristol for a bit for exactly those 3 reasons. Work moved me to Edinburgh which is even better! But at a squeeze, I’d definately move back to Brizzle without too much thought.

Absolutely. Just some running type stuff – otherwise I'd be going for a trailer and a mini helmet!

I also have a large napper.

+1 for Oakley and Arnette (have used both in the past)

but in recent years have been using Rudy Projects for riding and loving them. Excellent optics and their photochromatic lenses are the mutts.

Ah yes. I looked into the assembly instructions and can see how it all works now. My local Thule agent can't get the 4007's though. I guess I'll have to Halford.

I45key – I was just looking on this site. At least in the Altera bars you can see how the feet might attach to the bars.
    How do your Thule attach?

I've had a good look at the Thule foot packs but I just can't see how they will attach to the rails as you can't actually grab around the bar. There is a little lip on the outsides of the rails but most foot packs are for rails you can access the full rail circumference.

Thanks to all contributors. I have just popped out and picked myself up some latex and slime, ready to mix with some premix screen wash and hopefully bob will be my uncle.

Ah. I have been using the JRA stuff and have had the same experience. I was hoping that this wasn’t “normal”.

For you fellas with Stan’s, is there aything funky in the latex to make is work better (i.e. plug punctures) than just pure latex?

Sounds like a grand plan. I wouldn’t go for anything less than a month though. If you like the coastal/beach thing, then as has been suggested Melb to Bris is a good idea. Bris to Cairns is also very nice but is a loooooong way. For something different, Darwin to Adelaide is also very popular, taking in Uluru etc.

Internal flights are relatively cheap with Jetstar (owned by qantas) and Virgin blue. Beware though as these 2 fly to some airports that aren’t at cities (eg Prestwick vs Glasgow) and are often late. If you’re short on time, fly inbetween, but if you have more time, it’s worth the drive between cities. There are loads of things to see if you’re prepared to go a bit off the beaten track.

Wicked campers are also in Australia, and will certainly be a cheaper option than most.

When you’re a bit closer to the time and have a better idea of what you want to see, send me an email and I’ll help out with some of the finer details if you like. If you take your MTB, check out http://www.mtbdirt.com.au for the MTB community in Brisbane, or http://www.farkin.net

You wont need to go to NZ as you’ll meet plenty of them in Oz 😛
