@belugabob – you got it almost bang on. Based on abov comments, I guess I’ll post it, and hope it doesn’t get lost in transit / somehow require a customs fee.

Most likely a clutch failure. Just had it happen with my XTR, same symptom. You can buy the clutch kit. I took mine to the shop to have them do it as I’m a mechanical retard, and the clutch replacement cost almost as much as new XTR rear D. So – if you have any mechanical aptitude at all, do it yourself.

I think there’s some sort of limits on how many times per year you can authorize/deauthorize computers. Have you possibly done a lot of either of those actions in the last few months?

Sorry can’t be more helpful – but if it is the case that you’ve authorized or deauthorized a large-ish (as defined by Apple…) number of devices, and you aren’t get any better answers here, maybe ask the Google or do an online support chat with Apple.

Sorry – I should have been clear – it doesn’t have to be a Thomson, but I’m trying to avoid buying another seatpost. So looking for solutions to keep this one from creaking, but if necessary, a purchase it will be as this one is doing me head (and ears) in…

Just seeing this… What a true loss. It is not an exaggeration to say that my Troutie Lumens Liberator helped create a renewed enjoyment of MTBing for me. That light has done 24 hour races with me in Singapore, Germany, Scotland, and the USA (am I leaving anywhere out?), and will be doing another one in June here in Texas – powered by Smudge’s batteries of course.

I had never really done any proper night riding before my LL light – his light single-handedly opened up a whole new type of riding for me.

@ericemel – PM me if you’d like to chat. I lived in Singapore, with a MTB and family (two kids) for about eight years. Happy to chat about the upsides/downsides of living and working in Singers with family and MTB considerations.

Pretty much echo what @oop_north says – Singapore is EXPENSIVE. Especially with a family, especially if you are not getting a full expat package (schooling, etc). Just something to keep in mind. On the other hand it is a great place for family, and a great experience.

I get it off and on – when I do start having sleep paralysis episodes it’s usually because I’m stressed.

The weirdest one was when I floated up out the bed, and was sure my feet were going to hit the ceiling fan. I knew it wouldn’t be bad – but I thought “damn, that is going to be sore”.

My sleep paralysis is almost always accompanied by some sort of malignant presence in the room with me. I can certainly see how some people would mentally turn to aliens and probings as an explanation!

Beyond Santander just being obstructionist (which may in fact be the main reason), I believe that faxed signatures are considered legally binding, whereas emails are not in all instances considered legally binding. Something to do with faxes being harder to hack (not sure I believe that one) and the fact there is a confirmation that the document was received (ok, maybe).

I’m sure you’ve already considered this, but what about some Sealskinz or similar waterproof socks, and whatever shoes you want?

I’m with the OP on this, but for slightly different reason. I’ve also gone through about three Wahoo BT/ANT+ chest straps+senders in last three years – the senders die, and/or the sensing pads on the straps separate from the strap material.

I need ANT+ for connecting to my Garmin when on the bike, and BT(LE) for connecting to my phone in spinning classes and when running.

    Watching the thread with interest.

@trail_rat – agreed, the current twinge isn’t cramping, but knowing it’s in the same area that I do cramp in races, I’m working on the assumption there’s an even higher than usual likelihood it will lead to a cramp. So hoping to do something (anything) to reduce likelihood. Looking for a recommended sports massage near me now – thanks!

OK I know I’m old and grumpy, but seeing the in-traffic antics in videos such as Line of Sight and Fixation is it any surprise that the average car-driving (and pedestrian) public despises cyclists in urban areas?

Site looks good. No idea how you would go about getting your site rated or whatever – never heard of that. @Jimdubleyou’s company must have some fairly strict firewalls.

My main comment is the rotating images gallery looks a bit odd with various sizes (aspect ratios) of images. Would maybe look a bit nicer with a small frame around the images, and having the images all the same aspect ratio.

As above, not sure I understand the question… But – without using a Pivot Table (do you have to?) you can do this with a filter. This link explains it – basically, use a filter, then go to Data tab and use the Advanced Filters option.

If that doesn’t answer the question, perhaps you could post a (simplified) sample table?

…yet none of the detractors. Funny that.

I’m with you on the scumminess of Astana @CaptainFlashheart, but I think there’s been plenty of detractors of the the team over the years. The Astana roster has certainly been an A-list of dopers, from Vinokourov and Bruyneel to Contador and Armstrong, not even listing the other bad behaviours in and around the team…

What @CaptainFlashheart said. I lived in Beijing for a number of years, and can attest that it’s nasty nasty stuff. Smells like diesel, tastes worse. I brought a bottle back to a friend of mine in the UK who will notoriously drink anything – he couldn’t drink it. Used the rest to light the BBQ a few times.

Strangely, or not, my Greek friends loved the moutai I brought them.

There are some nice “herbal wines” (not grape-based) in China, but even the expensive moutai is foul. For the record – having also lived in Singapore – eating durians is child’s play compared to a night downing moutai shots with your Chinese coworkers/customers.

On the motorcycle forums I’m on this comes up a lot. I genuinely think most people who do this do so on accident, and in any case I’d really rather have drivers being able to see out of clean windscreens. Gives them one less reason to use the SMIDSY excuse.

What @qwerty said. I have narrow feet with high arches, and have the +++ Specialized insoles in all my shoes – cycling and jogging.

Also FWIW – I managed to rent cars a couple of times when living in Seoul. That was about 13 years ago, and was on my USA license mind you. You might double-check with the car rental agency whether they really _need_ an international license.

I have a set of these I’m happy with, although I’ve only used them once to actually undo a chain link (and that was just to test them).

I recently flew with some new light batteries from @Smudge , on BA to the US. These of course aren’t as large as e-Bike batteries, but I did the research as they were larger than normal (for endurance racing). In the end I emailed BA and got approval. Looking at the BA page here

    https://www.britishairways.com/en-us/information/baggage-essentials/liquids-and-restrictions

It looks like e-Bike batteries are not allowed. It’ll depend on the airline, but I suspect most will have a similar rule.

Also worth noting – not everyone lives in the UK or a country where a) Eurosport works, or b) there’s an option for watching the Giro or other bike races via TV or online streaming (legally). I had this issue every year when living in various countries in Asia.

Although @SaxonRider admitted that’s not his issue, it is (or has been) for a lot of us. Just keep in mind before breaking out the pitchforks next time the question is asked!

I got my Charge Plug Ginduro!!!! (I think it has approx eleventy-thousand Grinduro and exclamation marks on the frame) for a song in the US – $599 about a year ago. Hydraulic discs, OK-ish wheels, WTB Nano tires, an EBB… Really the only particularly crappy piece of kit on it is the cranks, which are made of tofu – I’ve already replaced the left crank arm with something found in the back of the bike shop for a tenner. OK – and the matt purple paint job and stickers are a bit OTT.

Price was right for a commuter – if it gets stolen I’ll be annoyed but not gutted. In the meantime I’ve done some fairly serious riding on it inlcluding a few “gravel grinders” and an on-road imperial century just yesterday. All in all – I’d say why look further? Upgrade with decent components as needed.

When in the UK, the Glasgow Commonwealth Games singletrack course is a 10 minute ride from my front door, with no more than 100 meters of that on pavement. I still can’t believe my luck on that.

On that note – I really really rate the Mous phone cases. I got my first one based on their admittedly over-the-top kickstarter campaign (dropping them from bridges and stuff), but have since equipped both my daughters with their phone cases too. A bit more expensive than usual eBay/Amazon case, but touch wood we haven’t had a cracked screen in two years, and both my daughters are a renowned for finding the hardest surfaces to drop their phones on to.

Nut just some countries – a lot if not most. Most Southeast Asian countries have this requirement as well. So worth checking – but I would imagine EU travel with an EU passport should be ok up to the date of passport expiry. For now at least…

I have the same problem – girly-man narrow feet with extra high arches. Sidi and Giro work best for me (although with current NRA kerfuffle Giro are now out), and on a case-by-case basis some of the higher end Specialized shoes also work.

I think Fizik shoes are meant to be narrow as well (and probably made by someone like Giro anyway) but I haven’t had a chance to try them.
