I was about to click ‘buy’ on the sram one piece chainring but I’m a little confused by the choice in offset.. Any assistance?

I have a ’98 Orange o2 which runs the brake on the back of the front fork, don’t know if there’s any real benefit but it works perfectly.

I second the run out of skill way before the bike does!

Interesting question, can’t say I know the exact answer as there are so many variables on each switchback.
I would think front centre distance may have more of a bearing on how switchbacks feel.

I had the same quandary in november, iPhone 6 or z3. Went with the z3 which replaced my old iPhone 5.

Battery noticeably better, camera much improved and only took a week or so to adjust from 4+Years of iPhone use.

Would I go back to an iPhone.. Maybe, but for the time being I’m quite happy with jumping ship to android and Sony.

When I built my kinesis crosslight up I was after some reasonably priced qr skewers, ended up with some of these
    a2z qr skewers very impressed.

Everyone is going to circa 800mm bars (or at least that seems to be the trend).

I run 740s on mine and find them very comfortable, the trees aren’t getting further apart!

What about high roller 2? Think the 2.4 dh casing is a dual ply.

Weeksy – yea I live on a housing estate, the house does all I and my family require of it.

Brassneck – yea the suspension is adjustable on the move, three preset heights and each corner independently adjustable for camping.. Google accuair e-level for details.

I’m firmly a T5 fan, on my second one now. Economics wise 40mpg, insurance no more than a nice estate car, tax is a bit more but not horrendous. They’re not like a car to drive but are very nice, lowered suspension gives a better ride than standard, I’ve fitted air suspension for flexibility on campsites and also added bonus of looking nice (IMHO).

There’s a wealth of products/parts for the vw vans. Anyone can turn a van into a camper, finish and final product quality may vary though.

Something nice about the way vw owners respond to each other aswell.

    Here’s mine in posing mode

Also much respect to all of you (Northwind, biggin, garry_lager etc.) that are riding it… Not sure if I have the kahunas for it, although I like the idea of giving it a go. Biggest concern would be getting in someones way.

Stages 6 and 7 cancelled due to high winds… Sure there will be a few relieved people that the most pedally (is that a word?) stage isn’t being used.

Anyone got any predictions for movers and shakers on the leaderboard?

Joe Barnes had a big off on stage 2 hitting hands and a shoulder on trees…

Good luck to everyone riding the ews this weekend. Hopefully the weather is kind.

Gutted I’m not there to at least spectate the enduro/enjoy the tweedlove week.. Plans afoot for next year!

I run tried and tested stans flow ex on pro 2 evo. Seem reasonably bullet proof for a big clumsy oaf like me. :)

Hmmm, I know I’ve not had many.

    ’95 diamond back topanga,
’98 Orange o2 (still got it),
    ’99 Orange Msisle,
    ’13 On one C456,
    ’13 Boardman Cx team,
’14 Santa cruz bronson C (still got),
    ’14 Specialized roubaix sport,
’14 Kinesis crosslight pro 6 (still got).

Couple more than I thought and three still owned and in working order, although the old orange is just used on the turbo now. Think I could do with a new hardtail ;)

    Personally I think it’s a stupid gimmick.

I have the current 105 11 speed on my kinesis crosslight, came with an 11-32 cassette if that’s of any help, guessing it’s a mid length cage though given it has a compact chainset. :/

I rode the full boar last year, very easy going, lots of fire road riding, a few singletrack descents, also included Dowies as one of the last ones.

A good day out on the bike, I rode my bronson, completely overkill but it’s the only mtb I’ve got.

I sent photos and details of my seats to dvla to reflect seat number…

V5 still says lgv but ‘window van’ instead of ‘panel van’ and seats up to 7.

This makes no difference to the speed limits I can drive at or the vehicle taxation class.

If you want car speed limits then the only way is for it to be re-classified as a ‘motor caravan’ for which you need a 1800mm bed, two burner hob, sink, water storage and waste and 2 cupboards (I think that’s all of it, sure someone will tell me different if I am).

Eskay – I have a converted panel van with side windows and rear seat.. Went through the manned booth on the Severn for the dyfi and got charged car rate :)

I really enjoyed world cup, much steeper than I had anticipated from pictures/videos but alot of fun when there was some clear space in front.

My first Dyfi, thoroughly enjoyed it despite destroying a pair of Oakleys on the first loose rocky descent!

Think I should of pushed harder on the climbs but not knowing what to expect I took it steady, drove for four hours back to Somerset and today my legs feel fine, may go for a ride this evening.

Pleasure to meet Chipps and Clover.. That well deserved chilli afterwards helped :)

My step father has recently sold his caddy maxi 1.6 dsg. He said it was quite happy at motorway speeds.. He regularly travels from south Devon up to the Isle of Skye’s so it’s seen plenty of motorway driving.

Take one for a test drive, I find personal driving manner makes a big difference. If your happy plodding on with traffic I expect the 1.6 would be ample.

I had a similar kit on my old T5, took a spur from the black and yellow headlight loom as suggested then used the earth stud next to the bonnet release lever as the earth.

    Hope this helps.

I’ve had a Sony Z3 since November. It’s been faultless so far.. Great camera, excellent battery life, waterproof for the occasional mishap.

It may not be the best but it ticked all the boxes when I was looking.

The plenum drains on a passat was on a recall I believe.

Two drain tubes in the scuttle that get blocked by leaves/muck causing the issue.

I’ve had 3 1.9pd cars. cracking engine, regular servicing will see it cover well in excess of 200k. I’ve had 2 2.0 engines. One 2.0 pd in a 2006 passat which had no issue getting to 140k and my new T5 has the 2.0 common rail engine which seems to be far more refined than the 2.0pd with a much smoother torque curve.. Reliability wise time will tell!

Impressive diy work! Those steps look like fun to ride down… If it goes wrong just aim for head first into the hot tub :)

Agree totally with what Kimbers has said.

I went to Tony/Nathan last June and even now I’m learning more as I ride. It’s certainly made me smoother on my bike and helped my confidence massively.

have been running 34t with 10-42 xx1 for the last year on 650b without too much bother but I had a spare 30t so that’s on at the moment to help with long steep climbs. Mainly down to my lack of fitness no reflection on the bike.

I’m not a massive fan of savoury pancakes. Maybe I need to experiment more. For us it’ll be lots of sweet pancakes,

    Lemon and sugar,
    Nutella,
    Belgian chocolate sauce,
    Golden syrup,
    Caramel.

    Yummy :)

I guess each bike is different.

I’m just shy of 6’1 and tend to find 18-19″ frames comfortable in use. Possibly not the ‘ideal’ size for me but I’ve managed up to now like that.

I have nothing to offer in terms of experience of this situation but I’d just like to thank you for sharing your experiences with this situation, it certainly puts many of my own and I’m sure many others issues in perspective!

Thoughts with you and yours, all the best.

Had a nose at a bell super 2r at pedal a bike away while at the forest of Dean last weekend, looks like a really versatile lid. Certainly not £60 though.

My current lid is a TLD A1 if you can pick up a last year model for sensible money I can highly recommend it, comfiest helmet I’ve ever owned.

Ixs trail Rs gets very good reviews and can be had for sensible money.

As above, a steady drip feed is all well and good but I loved the pick me up midweek mini movies would bring. Felt somewhat deflated yesterday when there wasn’t one.

Interesting read… As per most manufacturers blah blah numbers it includes no pedals so you can add circa. 400g.

I have a set of 661 evo knee pads with the D3o padding, a little chunky to look at but they’re comfy once you get used to something being in constant contact with your knee (I’ve only ever ridden in shorts so this was somewhat alien to me at first)

A friend has some troy Lee designs ones which look more slender but then ultimately I don’t know if they would offer the same protection in the case of a hard fall.
