I’ve been running Schwalbe rocket Rons picked up for less than £20 a pair on eBay.

They’ve been great, the rear is a bit worse for wear as I do quite a lot of road miles so I expected them to wear quickly but at that price I’m not concerned (they’ve done about 1500miles).

I intend to buy another pair then just go front to back and new front.

Some people say they’re too short but if you’ve tried one and like it why wouldn’t you?

They’re a cracking bike. I ride a bronson and although the changes appeal my mk1 bronson is still far more capable than I will ever be… Although that doesn’t stop the I wants!

I went for pro 2s on stans Grail rims.

Probably not the lightest but a nice strong wheel set.

My bronson remains silent providing I keep on top of greasing pivot axles and stick to my regular maintenance.

W8s are always cheap as engine parts prices are horrific!

I knew an owner of one who bought another w8 Passat in order to use the engine and break the rest of the car working out cheaper than just repairing his own (he was a big Passat fan).

Looking at entering for a charity next year, do I need to enter via he same ballot?

    Any pointers appreciated.

For my crosslight build (couldn’t justify tipster prices) I used hope pro 2 eves with stans Grail rims.

Not the lightest on the market but then neither am I! They’ve stayed nice and true with 15st of me being clumsy with them.

I have two bikes in regular use. Either is too much for what I do with it but I don’t care, I’m riding a bike and enjoying it!

For reference I have a Santa Cruz bronson for all mtb activities and a kinesics cross light for the really gentle/road stuff.

All of my road/non mtb riding is done on this. So much fun to ride, glad I sold my roubaix to fund it.

Creaky pivots occur if they’re not greased/torqued properly. Had a similar issue with my bronson thinking it was BB or crank/pedals… Nope upper pivot bolt.. Removed, new loctite on thread and a smear of grease on the shank all is now silent again. The lowers get greased when you use the grease ports underneath the bottom link.

sandwicheater had my Fox ctd Kashima off of my bro son push tuned, very happy with the results, feels more linear than before and the different compression modes (climb and trail) are more obvious than before.

    Certainly worth the £150 IMHO.

Gutted to not be entered this year, was going to be in a team of four but two of them pulled out and my other team mate didn’t fancy pairs. Tut.

I have a couple of spare front mechs if that’s any help Matt? :)

Just had mine push tuned, in the information they send back with the shock they state the whooshing is normal as the air/oil move through the channels within the shock.

It’s quite apparent when you bounce on the bike (bunny hop etc).

Trailmoggy, monkeyfudger I own a T5 and wave to other vow van drivers

I greet cyclists regardless of what bike I’m riding. Majority respond in a friendly manner. We’re a friendly bunch in Somerset….. Must be the cider!

Mines in the standard on top position on the left.. Like the idea of moving it underneath using a right hand remote but I will probably just wait until it’s an issue.

Well done on such a well placed finish sounds exactly how I’d expect it to be.

Considering entering the 2017 event (not enough spare money in the pot to enter now) in a pair, few friends did it this year and said it was the best riding of their life which kind of seals the deal.

I will be entering to complete but I want to shed some excess flab before the fitness training starts properly so that I can atleast be at a fitness point where I will be able to enjoy the event more.

I love the idea of riding some ukge rounds but unsure a) how slow I’d be (under no illusions that I’ll be quick) and b) how technical the stages are.

The idea of having to wear a full face and take out some insurance doesn’t bother me too much.

Jsync – was done by TFtuned. Really happy and they give a 3 week window for tuning adjustments, just have to cover post (or visit them).

Yea, probably about right, the haldon red is more like a blue imho. Good for a quick blast but certainly nothing challenging.

I’ve ridden both haldon and Llandegla. I’d say that the Llandegla red is a fair bit more technical than the haldon red.

Start him on the Llandegla blue, as blue loops go it is right up there in terms of fun!

Always enjoy the course preview, loved his xc preview that Adam@bikeworks posted. Goes to show how fit the xc boys are (never doubted for a second), and seeing a more normal but still very skilled rider on it shows how tough it really is!

Amazing video, the smiles and giggles sound like any good ride with mates.

He’s been involved with Mr Crud making out riggers for his motorbike, I believe he rode it at goodwood.

im, a relative local (well in somerset) plan to visit the quantocks shortly, does anyone have any good gpx routes they could possibly email to me? only been on a couple of loops around the quantocks and a bit of a play on the trails around triscombe, but that was many a moon ago now.

    Sorry for the late reply.

Love the new shock, it’s made me go from questioning a change of frame to loving it.

Bags more mid stroke support so instead of wallowing through the centre of the travel there’s more linear feel, small bump sensitivity seems to be slightly better. Climb mode and trail mode are more obvious definitions now compared to descend mode.

    Yet to find any negatives.

Feels like I’ve got a totally different shock fitted.

Love the look of the event, also like the look of the Bc bike race (Google it if youve not seen) although more xc it has some amazing looking singletrack.

From what I’ve read about the trans provence you also need to allow for some extra rubber. Sven Martin had taken a pic of a pile of tyres where most of the tread was missing/torn off, guess that’s the rocky nature of the route though.

I’ve been running a hope ceramic bb with the gxp adapters pressed in for the last 18months ish. They’ve not moved and the bb is still as smooth as the day I got it.

Just got mine back from them today for my bronson.

I asked them for more mid stroke support on descend mode and for a stiffer climbing platform. From a quick pedal around the block it seems better but obviously don’t want to sing too many praises until I’ve taken it out for a proper play (read as test) over the weekend.

From my experience with oakley, sports glasses (racing jackets, radars and radarlocks) would come with a hard shell and bag while normal sunglasses would come in a soft bag.

Personally much prefer the wood, if you treat/paint it all on assembly then surely a lick of paint every couple of years isn’t too much bother.
