Al, nope but I installed a headset that caused a similar (though not as bad) to a Kona HT frame along time ago.

I rode it back and for work for 5 years before the bottom cup became loose.

I took this last year to Morzine: –

It was really good on everything I rode, but the blues are full of braking bumps which in turn destroyed my back wheel 🙁

My biggest tip would be…. get a coil rear shock on what ever bike / frame you buy. Air is just not upto the job if you want to put the hammer down.

I’d say that an incorrect headset installation has caused it.

    Has anyone mentioned pensions yet?

Cos their entitled to half of that too, and it’s at the pensionable age not when the separation occurred.

I had one of these put in: –

    Ariston 38kw Combi

The gas fitter charged £180 / day which seems about the norm, took 3 days to install and that included ripping the old heat only boiler and tank out. All in you should be looking upto £1400 including the remote temperature controller, rad flush, spin cleaner and rad rust inhibiter.

If they had it probably would have generated so much energy a small mushroom cloud would have been produced, this would have inadvertantly caused a reaction by means of a US nuclear strike (probably against Iran and or North Korea) causing the end of the world as we know it.

    You gotta love Ti 😆

If your looking for forks, it’ll be difficult to get a better bargain than these: –

    Lyrik Coil

But I went for the RC2DH instead :).

    This is my choice: –

TCahnges form the photo are: –

    New 170mm Lyrik Coils RC2DH,
    DHX5 Ti rear,
    Chain device,
    750mm Bars
A true do it all, it’s suprisingly light too. Everything (apart form the new Lyriks) is 2nd hand (Mostly bought off here), total build cost was under £1000 over 3 years ago and have mainly swapped out parts at no extra cost.

I’ve been reading some info for a while now and one thing that jumps out is: –

About 25% of the installation cost is the inverter that delivers power to the grid, the life expectancy of these are between 3 – 6 years. Taken on average the 25 year payback, many people fail to include this cost. Units have between 3 – 5 year warranty, which potentially wipes out any profit and is a bigger factor than PV failure.

I decided I’ll be better off putting the money into property, with the 95% loan to value for new house buyers the house price market is expected to rise by circa 4 – 8% by the end of this year alone.

For me you won’t beat Festina at that price, also I will never buy a Seiko Kinetic again, it will break as you need to adjust the time constantly.

My 14 year old Festina 6566 has been faultless.

I bought a 38kw Ariston E Combi 38FF He for £670 online, had it installed it in the attic with a whole new gas supply around the house. All in for £1100 with a a new rad in the conservatory.

To be honest I dont really care about how much he gets (A lot more people earn a lot more than me), but if someone gave me a million in shares i’d cash em in and buy a new bike……. or 2…….. or 3 ……….. or 4………. you know where this is going! 😛

    Andorra 4*

Grandvalira (Soldeu, El-Tarter, Pas Del La Casa, Canillo) Andorra is cheap and has good faclities for learners, however it is suffering this year from lack of snow. No queues really even at half term, you should be looking at £500 – £600 per week per person 4* HB with ski passes, ski hire, flights and transfers.

But Andorra does suffer from Ski snobbery i’m afarid!

I picked up a 4″ (110mm) Russian TAL-1 for £50, so far so good. Regarded as having the best optics for the price range and good focal length (longer gives better magnifying power), heavy as hell though (Typcial Ruskies build quality!).

There’s a couple on the bay quite cheap at the moment which will go quite cheap as they rarely reach £100.

My mod is slightly different, you’ll need to remove the u-turn spring and grind off the bottom coil of the spring. This then allows you to wind out the extra 10mm, refix the spring in position with good quality epoxy resin. Job done, no topout issue (although you do lose the u-turn facility). I have been running my mod for nearly a year now with no issues.

I have been running a DHX 5 Coil on my 09 Enduro SL for 2 months now with my trusty Lyrik Coil up front and it’s totally transformed the bike. If you can live with the weight the way the bike feels is totally worth it, it’s massively responsive and tracks everything. This is comming from an Mid compression Mid rebound RP2 not the AFR!!!!

I have tried every trick in the book with the AFR and it will not work as well as any fox or RS product. The negative air bleed makes it better but is sacrifices travel by around 10%, not ideal nut if you don’t have the cash for a different shock then it’s a trade off.

My main reason for changing to coil was Morzine, the RP2 was totally overwhelmed by the long decents and actually started feel like the AFR at the end of long runs (The shock got warm having the effect of increasing the air pressure).

My advice would be bin the AFR and fit a Coil or better Air shock, it’s a worth while investement.

Lyriks, here’s a pic of my old steed. Change the rear shock for a 2.25″ stroke and you get an extra 3/4″ travel.
