I flush my bearings in an oil bath with a battery drill while holding the outer casing, uber smoothe!

Looks a bit podgy to me, but then again I have just built this up: –

This should do the job nicely.

I've have used one of these before.

You'll need to cut a few mm off the bottom split to allow a sharp edge to bite the inner race.

I now use one like this: –

How sh!te is that! I was looking forward to Peaty at least getting nominated. He was never going to win but his career spans decades, half of that lot will be on i'm a celeb next year.

Hamsters review of the Lambo was pretty p!ss poor too, I really did not see the point. Would have been better off with the Skoda that towed the caravan, which looked like a Saab.

I have a set of 07 Lyriks, never let me down! Full travel regularly on the trail, never run Fox so I wouldn't know. Can only go on reliabilty which seems to have been an issue with regards stantion wear. Damping on the Lyriks has remained unchanged since they were launched so that has to speak for itself, plus I find it does work.

Oh by the way, to improve small bump on Lyriks swap out the oil seals and wipers for 2010 boxxers. Transforms the fork, TFT just done mine 🙂

2-steps have an awful reputation for o-ring failure on the air spring which basically leaks air pressure into the lower part of the fork.

Try following this – 2 Step Service

Also TFT mention it on their website -Lyrik FAQ

Ah, thats the problem then! I thought they were U-Turn coils, your best bet is to have them converted to coil or solo air which TFT will do.

I'd give TFT a ring first, they've seen pretty much every issue with Lyriks. Have you tried removing the u-turn assembly and spring and then compressing the fork?

All the way out, if you have no floodgate wound in there is effectively no lockout.

    Konastoner

Try winding out the floodgate all the way to – and pressing the low speed compression adjuster full down. Compress the fork to see if you get extra travel, if you do then it's you Mission Control unit.

Nope, mine will be 3 years old this Chrimbo and never missed a beat.

With regards your issue neil, drain the all fluids and compress the fork. If you get full travel then you know you've lost a seal on the compression damper side (this is the only side that holds oil on the coils). Buy yourself the damper seal kit from TFT (£15) and you'll be sorted, or you can send your fork to TFT and the seal change will be part of the service. If you do TFT the fork get them to put the 2010 Boxxer seals on, the fork improvement will blow you away!

    SV,

Pump your shock up, remove from bike and place in a tub of water. You'll soon see where the leak is comming from, it will probably be from the can seal / O ring which is inside where the can screws into the the body.

I never clean the stantions with water, soap or any detergent – Only liquid lube.

Let the crud dry and brush off with a soft paint brush (tape the metal bit that holds the brush hairs to stop stantion scratch). Get some PTFE liquid lube and apply liberally to the stantions (Preferably with the wheel off and rag over brake calipers), make sure there is loads of PTFE Lube around the seals and compress the fork about 2". Any bits of crud from the seal will lift with the lube. Wipe eoff crud and excess and re lube lightly.

    Job Done!

I use this method for general cleaning too, any cleaner will strip / wash out lube and cause accelerated wear.

With a Hope Vision 2 helmet adpater: –

You can see where the bolt sits, it's fully adjustable and there's no vibration / wobble.

SBrock, did not say anything to contrary. Just said that there was not that much difference.

Stevomcd I assume you have ridden Whites, as most on here have. You will find the last but one jump on Windy Point (Before Energy) is actually 3.5ft to flat static, at speed you will probably get around 4ft. Now I ain't no freerider by any strecth but that jump alone certainly gives any suspension a workout.

The only real benefit of running coil over air is that on long decents the coil will act exactly the same throughout the run. The air will actually stiffen slightly at the air heats up which increases pressure in the can(You can feel the can get warm). Large volume air cans like the DHX Air (Which I have also ran) will blow through the travel on big hits easily on all single pivot bikes, unless you over damp but that will give seriously poor performance.

    Pimpmyride,

I ran a DHX5 Coil for a couple of months, which was good as to be expected but I now run a Float R of all things and to be honest there's not much difference. I would say the float R even climbs better, the recomended damping for the Heckler is the lowest so the DHX was probably overdamped. Also low volume air cans are also recomended.

For the money i'd go for a Float R and send it to TFT and get it PUSHED. TFT don't PUSH the RP's though.

I've been running specialized eskar control 2 bliss 2.3 for 2 years on and off there (I live 6 miles away and on my second set). Cheap, light and good rollers, no pich flats. Ideal for trail centre's probably not the "In" tyre but works easliy as good as High Rollers which I have run there too.

The trick here is to have an old 30mm seat post and cut it slightly smaller than the head tube length. As 1 1/8" headsets are just over 30mm inside diameter then this acts as a guide and allows you to secure both cups at the same time.

I ran a DHX5 Coil on my heckler for a couple of months and found it superb, especially on the downs. I used to run it with a slightly lighter spring for that softer feel, felt more planted. swapped it out for a Float R and if anything the float feels more bottomless due to the ramp spring curve but does not give as much small bumb response. If you can live with the weight penalty (700g) then go for the coil. There's not as much weight saving as stated with Ti springs either, it's about 150g depending on shock size

5ft 10" and I ride a 06 medium with a 50mm stem, basicaly because i like the sharp steering and the Lyriks slacken the head angle some what. I also prefer a mall cockpit as it's more chuckable, U-Turn still alloows me to handle the climbs ok too.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned is that the service intervals are generally between 18 – 24k miles or 3 years depending on how you drive.

Just make sure the timing belt has been done, its a £400+ job and due around the 65k mark. I've owned 3 Audi's both 1.9 and 2.0 tdi's, put 100k on my last A4 with absolutley no issues only tyres and brakes. Make sure the sevrice history is all dealer too you can check by phoning any Audi main dealer.

    Mick,

I have never lubed my RWS since I bought it, or had any issue with it. just dont over tighten it as this seems to be the issue, also if left tightened for a long while (Weeks or months) then this may cause a problem. I remove my wheels weekley to clean etc.

    Bludgen,

I had ITBS for about 2 months last year (Posted on here too) and tried everything including physio, ultrasound etc. A solution was reccomended by a runner – the Pat Strap. It was cheap so I ordered 2 from the states for about $12 delivered. A bit sceptical, I tried them and managed White Levels without too much discomfort, I wore them 1 above and 1 below the knee cap as instructed for a further 2 months and found that I was pretty much pain free without the straps after that period.
