Hmmm, interesting that. I suspect that it is to do with the 170mm non uturn versions only though.

Cruzheckler, I have heavily modified my Lyriks as follows: –

5wt oil in compression to allow better SBC (Small bump compliance on full off HS /LS)and finer range of damping.

Floodgate mod again better SBC due to better oil flow.

Secondary oil seal removal on main stanchions, now running foam seals. Again much better SBC due to less stiction and better lubrication (Oil / grease mix).

170mm mod by removing the last part of the coil of the u-turn spring, allowing you to wind out the coil a further 10mm max (You will not need to adjust the MC oil level) You will need to fix the spring in place to prevent over turning and winding the spring out of the u-tun assembly completey. This mod also brings into play the u-turn spring area providing a higher ramp up levelat bottom out (See pic above).

Monkeyboy, there is about 10mm of allowable preload that is available. However no such spacers exist, I have fettled may times with my lyriks and now run my 2007 160’s at 170mm de-utilising the u-turn which in turn provides the required ramp up at end of stroke. It’s not a pretty mod but has held up good so far , even a week in Morzine.

    Stevo, see here: –

The 160mm U-Turn lyrik spring is not linear.

However the 170mm DH is more linear: –

Wow! Now that’s a post stevo. However a couple of things to remember, its the spring shape and coil structure that controls the spring rate not just the sag or preload. Also the spring is suitable for a range of weights and differing riding styles. I run a medium and weigh anything from 14 to 15 stone depending on what gear and camelback used. My philosophy is that ride smoother ride faster ride softer, that is to say I ride neither but I try! Bottoming out is good, it means that you are using the suspention, bottoming out harsh is bad which means the suspension is not setup correctly. There’s some good advice on here, I follow the rs setup vid on youtube for compression / rebound and tweak as per the trail and riding style.

Going against the grain a bit, Spesh Eskars have been a good all-rounders (No pun intended!) for me.

    neilnevill – Yes and Yes!

Floodgate mod is simple, and 5wt makes a massive difference. You will need to apply more rebound though as its the same fluid for both rebound and compression.

I have also done the “Boxxer” mod, i.e. swapped out the inner oil seals for foam rings. TFT reccomended it and will supply the 35mm rings required, and I must say it makes a big difference. But be sure up those service intervals!

Does it give 3 or 4 error beeps after 2-3 minutes? If it does then it’ll be the water solenoid valve. My indesit failed after 2 years with this issue, fairly common and simple to fix.

I think I’ve read a report where he said that he didn’t have a good enogh position for a drop goal. I prefer the idea that they wanted to demonstrate an all or nothing attitude by powering over to score a try

Rubbish, he just sh!t out! Any player worth their salt that has been BL capped and is classed as a WC player would be able to DG from 25yds regardless of presssure, he would have made it happen.

I can only presume in teaining 1/2p doesnt have the same levels of accuracy. He only takes long range pot shots for cardiff too.

At least he has the nuts to have a go, it’s this “Have a go” attitude is what many sides are missing form the N Hemisphere. It’s all about the confidence.

Until Wales start winning the pressure games, they cannot be regarded as great. I was convinced that Halfpenny’s final kick was going over…as it dropped below the crossbar by inches, it truly reflected where Welsh rugby is at right now. Almost there, but not quite.

If you want a pressure game try playing a game with a captain, forward and top class player down against a side that on it’s day can beat anyone. Oh and they did not score a try and still we still end up only 1 point behind. Well done Wales I say! Oh and is this the same as saying that England are the golden child of UK sport? You can understand the dislike if people make half baked comments like this.

Yes they look strong at the moment, but imagine if Adam Jones had done his calf in the first match and then Roberts or Phillips got broken. Wales have played well but have also been very lucky to have almost all of there top players available apart from Rees (and the man god obviously but I’m not sure he counts). If Hook Breaks suddenly the cover in 3 positions looks very very thin. If Wales wanted to dominate Europe and challenge the SH teams they need more strength in depth but given the structure in place and the pro player numbers its unlikely to happen.

All if, but’s and maybe’s, still not be relevant – stick to the facts. None of it happened so t’sirrelevant. Strength in depth you say? Due to the coaching team and player development Wales now have THE strongest side in the NH and I beleive that this will show in the 2013 BL tour of Australia.

I applaud Gatland for comming out with truth about non contested scrums, and this may help the cause in the end. I hope the IRB pay attention to the fact that if their refs get it wrong the concequences are not only felt by the players.

Finally I applaud the nation for getting behind Wales, it’s really good to see solidarity in these times of national segregation. It was a pitty that Wales did not get through but this was not for the want of trying, this is disappointment is felt by every Welsh person (and hopeflly a few others). We are not disappointed in the team (in Wales they are Gods!) but disappointed in the system (not even the ref!!!). It would have been easy to go to the 3rd ref but this would have gone against the memo. Rugby is a contact sport, sometimes big guys against small which ends up in scenarios like Warburton, however they are all ulitimatley rugby players and they know the risks and get paid accordingly. Look how many people have been killed or injured road riding, would you call that a dangerous sport?

The key term in that memo is “With no regard for the players safety”, Warberton clearly had this regard as he let go before the tackle became speared. It was unfortunate that he was off balance to ensure the player was grounded securley, clearly a Yellow.

France were not capable of putting wales away, that is the difference between a world class team and an ordinary one.

Seeing as my FS is in dry dock licking it’s wounds from Morzine, I had to use my HT for a blast around Cwmcarn. 1 lap later and I had to re-ajdust some internal organs!!!!

Totally forgot how tough it was on the bod.

Not to say it wasnt fun though.

Hire an RV, I did last year and drove to ride all the main spots. Whister, Pemberton, Squamish, there’s loads of riding wihtin an hour or 2 driving distance of Whistler. Loads of campsites too (Their not like the crap we have over here), good facilities etc.

Size wise Whistler (not just the bike park) is similar to both Morzine & Les Gets combined. Loads of shopping (Especially for bike / Ski stuff) and sight seeing.

    +1 Andorra.

4hrs transfer!!! (Chuckles!), Toulouse Airport is only 2&1/2 hrs away (Although you may need snow chains). Girona Airport is about the same.

This year for Chrimbo and New year all in was £900 Each, this was for – 9 adults, 9 seater Vito, Fuel / Tolls, Flights, Premium Ski Hire (New Equipment), 6 day Ski Passes, 4* HB Hotel (Hotel Euro Esqui) for 7 nights, i’d say thats a bargain!

Organise the trip seperatley it’s much cheaper.

Slope prices are approx 25 – 40% higher than town prices but you can ski back to Soldeu or take the Gondola.

The floodgate is the centre disc on this photo: –

You can see how the floodgate works here: –

It may be that the centre disc has popped off (This is the floodgate mod many people do to improve oil flow through the Compression circuit).

Try adjusting the floodgate setting to see if that makes any difference.

Other than that it may be something like a failed seal which sits under the centre disc on pic 1.

Same issue here, I detest cats and to some part their owners who seem not to care where their pet goes or what it gets up to.
Find the cats owner and hand deliver the shit back in a jiffy bag, usually does the trick.

Cats killing birds in the garden is becoming an issue too, caught one cat in a tree stalking, quick blast with the hose pipe sorted that one out though.

benc, the Margam XC route is good and easy. Good to hone your skills and there’s a convenient cafe on hand too, the fire road goes over to Afan (Top of the old Penhydd 2nd climb, by the bench) if you fancy an extended outing but it’ll take a couple of hours.

    I would recommend DT SWiss 440 on Stan’s Flow / DT 5.1’s.

I’ve had mine for 4 years on 3 bikes now, work out 100g heavier than Hopes / kings but a hell of a lot more robust and simple to maintain.

    Full range of adapters too.

Just come back form Morzine 2 weeks ago, all arranged with Apline Elements which turned out to be fine despite some worrying stories. Stayed 300m from the Pleny lift, super convenient. As we drove over it was only £245 half board for the week plus lift pass. Morzine was really quiet, no queues and quiet trails. Riding was suprisingly good with dusty trails and spectcular views.

I use Dogtag for insurance too.

Not really, even after 1 x Serno Clavicular injury, 1 x dislocated collar bone(left), 1 x broken collarbone (Right) and 1 x dislocated knee cap (Right). I don’t use body armour and ride like my hair is on fire (when fit!). After all that I do now know my limits though.

Some how I think my trip to Morzine next week will put an end to that!

Oh another thing, dont worry about the 160mm. You can with, a little pull extend the fork passed this mark and it will stay there until you compress the fork again.
