A potentially interesting comparison from the US town I lived in. They had a very nice communal town pool setup, lane pool, kids pools etc. In fact not dis-similar to the very nice German town facilities I have used when on holiday there (have done 3 or 4 family holidays in Germany with friends in the military). You could only use it with a town residents card

It’s entirely fitting that you bring up that example, because that system developed as a way of stopping black city kids from swimming in white suburban pools during the white flight period.

That seems like a pretty silly thing to say but I’m sure you’re just about to explain what you’re on about.

You guys are so predictable. Any time a German government starts segregating races you bring up the Nazis. It’s such a cliche and frankly just puts your own prejudices on display.

Blah blah blah who is in least bit attractive is allowed to be used in any form of advertising, and never in any way that is believed to be OT (off topic)?

Yes, that’s exactly what is being suggested.

    whats wrong with being sexy?

It’s way overblown. There were certainly fascists/extreme nationalists around and they are scum. However, overwhelmingly the revolution was not of that flavour. Kyiv is a Russian-speaking city. Russian state pearl clutching about extremists saying awful things about Jews is unconvincing. I feel bad for the Tatars who have, as usual, got screwed over by the whole thing.

I think agent007’s provincial/suburban £300,000 house is more likely to suffer a crash than trailrat’s £425,000 London flat. There’s gonna be x million people moving to the UK in the next twenty years and they’re not going to be moving to Oban, Scunthorpe or Rhyl.

Hooray for tough guys! Beating mentally ill people up makes things better! You can always rely on police officers’ judgement on who deserves a kicking!

Owned by the chaps who own the Daily Mail. Of course it’s a disaster.

The Mail is owned by Lord Rothermere, isn’t it? Yodel is (largely) owned by the Barclay Brothers, who own the Telegraph.

The paramedic could also bring a private prosecution (unlikely in real life unless eg the union wanted to fund it) or bring a civil claim for battery (possibly a bit more realistic).

don’t think being seduced by someone under age is the same as raping someone under age.

Is your partner’s sister’s partner actually “family”?

OP should hoof him in the slats. If OP’s partner reminds OP about it twice a week for the next thirty years, then he’s family.

And nobody outside South Africa would have heard of Nelson Mandela if it hadn’t been for that 1984 pop song by the Special AKA.

It’s sad. But it’s mental that this is the “main news” on R4 Today and they’re reading out Joel Madden and Russell Crowe’s RIP tweets ffs.

I don’t know about others but that’s not telling people how or what to feel or say.

If anywhere is the right place to talk about Syrian children’s faces and other serious news stories, it’s the Today programme. True, it’s always had light-hearted/spiritual inserts (TFTD, which reminds me I should have left home by then), and obviously they were going to mention it, but the main news should be – you know – today’s main news in the world, or at least the country. If it was the breakfast show on R6, then obviously it’s going to be all Bowie, all the time, which is fine.

And there is never an excuse for reading out celeb reaction tweets.

Nothing divides the tories like Europe

I think you are underestimating the potential for the EU referendum to be a shitshow for Labour because:

    – there is already division in the party and eg Kate Hoey is lining up with OUT already

    – Labour is far better at ripping itself apart than the tories are

Tail still trying to wag the donkey, those careerists who entered via the blairite escalator have found that the gravy train no longer stops at their station

Let’s hope the donkey’s tail doesn’t knock over the gravy train and spill the beans out the pram. That would really upset the apple cart like a bull in a brewery.

Is this the way of the far left?

On which planet is Corbyn far left? He’s suggesting that the state should run railways once the present franchises expire. He’s not suggesting farmland should be collectivised, the FTSE should be the subject of a five year plan and that your let goldfish should be nationalised.

No, taking toddlers from Syria to Lesbos and then walking the length of the Balkans is hell. Getting delayed on your holidays is a hassle.

I think the thing that makes it more than just “shagger can’t keep it in his trousers” is the fact that she was applying for a job and contacted him in his official capacity. It wasn’t just some woman he met at a bar or whatever.

Also, it wasn’t a woman but a girl. He didn’t know she was a child it seems but he was very careless.

Edit: btw I find it distasteful that The Sun is identifying the text recipient. Her name will be Google-tainted forever with his, which is a shame. I suspect the reason why The Sun has been sitting on the story is because they wanted to have her photos and face in the story but didn’t want to do it until she was (formally) an adult. But we are all just raw meat for the tabs…

If you read Private Eye you’ll have seen that he and his ex wife are paid for media appearances through a computer at that they jointly own iirc

He was the subject of Twitter “outrage” for tweeting Christmas dinner photos with his gf while others were flooded out (as if that made a difference). So the day after he joined the “outrage” against the EA chief being on holiday in the Caribbean while others were flooded out etc. Dick

Got a couple of ex army mates at work who are not happy at all with Simon Weston CBE. In fact I’ve got and had a lot of ex army mates and they never seem to have much good to say about him.

Spit it out – what’s their problem with him?
