We got married 4 weeks ago, first dance was to Elbow – One day like this but then the DJ put Adele – Someone like you on. Sort of brought the atmos down! Had a cailidh band who took over then until later.

The DJ was a bit of dick, someone asked him for take that later so he put about 6 songs on in a row then did the same with lady gaga, don’t use Dereks Disco from Bury!

Enjoy the day, it flies past in a bit of a blur!

Chuck it in the canal, that seems to be the best place to get rid of old bikes / toys / shopping trolleys.

Edit: remove the child first if you prefer.

I do about 5 miles each way at present but about 3 of those are off road and can be muddy so I wear baggy shorts and regular t-shirt (ie. TK Maxx specials) Through winter I wear whatever is warm, normally my buffalo mountain shirt and some walking trousers.

I recomend you travel to Poland to do some research. Just remember their shots are about a quarter of a pint!

Is that the same as a prolapse? I’ve 2 of them and they were only found after having a CT or MRI (can’t quite remeber which) scan after years of pain. If you start getting stabbing pains in your legs / feet or numbness thats a symtom I get with it.

Maybe just a pulled muscle though hopefully.

Richard E Grant in Withnail persona for my 20’s…

‘Right, here’s the plan. First, we go in there and get wrecked, then we eat a pork pie, then we drop some Surmontil-50’s each. That way we’ll miss out on Monday and come up smiling Tuesday morning.’

Oh with Hans Rey as my biking stunt double obviously 😉

Then Rowan Atkinson in Blackadder mode for the rest of my life!

Such a reasuring thread as I’m house hunting for a bigger (or more expensive at least) house which will involve a longer commute for me.

It will have nicer views though hopefully!

Was talking to my dad the other day and when they moved into their current house in 1978 interest rates were at around 3%. He also had 2 other mortgages on his business property. 6 months later the interest rates went up to around 15% 😯

Now I know why he was doing man n van work at the weekends and selling eggs to local hotels in the evenings!

They were in front of two cars turning into martin mere (going west) on Fish Lane. They were 2 abreast then went to 3 abreast, I went past about 200 yds later.

They were doing about 15mph, I was at about 30 (in a national speed limit) and there was about 18″-2 foot, like I say, I was bit close but not massively so.

And jedi, a bike is not as wide as an LGV otherwise I wouldn’t be able to put 4 bikes in my garage…

I am always conscious of giving enough room when passing folk on bikes, just misjudged it a bit this time and I do think the guy was being a bit ‘awkward’.

Anyway sorry to him, hope I didn’t spoil his ride! (The torrential rain 20 minutes later may have though!)

My car had 4 in, the following car had 2 in. I didn’t nearly hit him, I was closer than I should’ve been maybe but he then nearly caused an accident by taking both hands off the bars to gesticulate at me.

1 or 5 a breast does it matter?
if a tractor wa doing 2 mile an hour would you chill out?

I am chilled, I would have got past a tractor with no probs and the driver would probably not have swerved about giving me the bird nearly hitting my friend behind.

    ‘And that’s an apology?’

Just re-read it and it wasn’t really so- SORRY!

    Is that better?

Nah, he was on a road bike, surely he wouldn’t be on here? 😉

I passed the group of mtbers who were 1 and 2 abreast no probs, this guy was about 6 inches from the white line on a road that is about 2 cars wide and wasn’t for letting anyone past… No need. I was a bit close though 😳

I rendered mine on the inside with a bit of flexible additive in the mix and apart from a few hairline crack which were small enough to be painted over it’s been fine (for 3 years anyhoo).

My Karakoram was my most favourite bike ever (although could be because I owned in my teens when summers were sunny and work involved shoving a few newspapers through letterboxes!).

Anyone got one for sale? 😉 (like the one in organics pic)

Not a hardtail but swapping the shock position on my prophet knocks a degree or 2 off the angles, and yes, it is very noticable. I’ve had numerous hardtails and have 3 at the moment and they all ride slightly diferently and obviously diferent geometries suit diferent people as everyone has diferent proportions. I really get on with GT and kona frames as they fit me well but others just feel a bit weird as soon as I sit on them.

(Opens ebay in another tab to search for a GT/Kona frame…)

He has opinions and isn’t too concerned about how he explains himself, quite refreshing really. I think some of his views are really quite moderate compared to some of his generation.

Just tell them the truth, I don’t see the problem with explaining what death is to my little boy although as other people have said, they still don’t understand it really at that age. Although when our rabbits got semi eaten by a fox we told our boy that they had gone to the woods (which technically they had – I left them in the bracken rather than burying them in the garden!). He still looks for them now 2 years on 🙁

I bought some mini flapjacks this morning that were slightly dry, other than that the day has been quite good. 😀

Make sure the headset seals are getting trapped, don’t put too much grease in it.

If you’re using a hope headset have you added enough washers / shims?

    Check frame for cracks… 🙁

Bet the 10mm and 14mm spanners and the 5mm allen key are missing though…

I’ve ridden the world cup course on a hardtail xc bike, a bit slower than on my stinky but just as much fun. I was followed down by a dutch bloke on fully rigid old ATB with panniers on 😯

Take some knee pads as a minimum though and enjoy!

Looking down to see a badger running alongside me was scary enough, not what you expect anyway. Deer jumping out in front of me have caused two offs as well. I always wary of mad axe men from the local mental hospital which doesn’t look too secure to me! Funny how your mind plays tricks on you when it’s dark in the woods..

    Over the years I’ve had;

    Kona Muni-mula ’99
    Kona kahuna ’03
    Kona Stinky ’05
    Kona Coiler ’07
    Kona Smoke ’08

Loved them all (apart from trying to do XC on the stinky!).

Used to buy them in the end of year sales but they don’t seem to be as reduced now, currently running a Prophet as the frame was cheaper than any second hand Dawgs I could find. I would still like another one though.

The halfords thing is rubbish, pure bike snobery, I’m sure people buy maxxis / panaracer tyres, camelbacks, thule roof bars, wd40, Sony car stereos etc etc despite them being sold there… I would check all the bolts / qr’s etc on any bike I bought there before using it though!

We met a couple in their 50’s on holiday a few years back. We were in Spain and they were off to Morocco the next day searching for their daughter who had vanished whilst walking through a market with them out there nearly 20 years previously. Very sad, and very sad for the little McCann girl involved regardless of who did what.

TBH I think the ammount of press / public interest around the case of the McCanns will have sealed the fate of Maddie, if she was kidnapped for whatever reason she’d have been got rid of by now.

Or was that in the past?
