I have been self employed for just over 4 years, the first 18 months were tough and I almost gave up… it takes a lot of hard work and effort….but for me the flexibility of the working hours is great….

I get to do what I want, when I want…….and it fits in nicely with riding! 🙂

If you have a good business idea, then go for it and good luck with it!

My outlook at the time was give it a go and see where it takes me…and the worst that could happen…. is that it would not work.

One good piece of advice which was handed down to me and I have stuck with it…..is….dont borrow any money or get any credit and if you can, work with what you already have…

Every year we have looked at the train option, but it works out expensive and a right pain in the ar$e, so we always end up going in the car….

I have always been riding, right from the start and I have always made a point of saying…’its my passion’….

I’m too old to change now 😉

Sadly I cannot use Sib’s way of doing it, as the gameplan would have been given away by now.. 🙂

    Good idea though!

I dont take the pi$$ and ride all the time, to be fair I only tend to ride in the mornings for an hour or two and certainly not every day.

I’m a morning person and the GF isn’t, so I usually ride in the morning as it can be a while before the GF wakes up, then gets up, faf around getting ready etc………I can be out on the bike and back before the actual day starts…

Yes we do other stuff, walk, chill out, eat, drink, relax…. I understand its about give and take. we have been togther just over 4 years, you would think she would be use to it by now ! 😉

I found out last night that the GF had been reading this topic and will probably read this message too……’hello darling’ !

I found it quite funny, as she is not a biker! I think she was a little pi$$ed off with me that I always feel the need to take the bike away with me every trip/holiday…

Is this unreasonable behaviour ? 🙂

In my defence I dont ride all that much when I go away, just a couple of hours here and there…just nice to go off, ride and explore…

I had the same problem a few weeks back, I just left the old pads in, used a large flat screwdriver and pushed the pistons all the way back in.

Then the new pads seemed to fit ok.

Right, I had better leave the GF at home for that trip then 😉

Yeah, cheers trailmonkey, I will post something up on the various forums that I use nearer the time to see if anyone could guide me around ?

I did the red route at Haldon last year at the end of my visit, so time was a bit limited, but it seemed pretty good…..I remember seeing a freeride area and some freeride riders etc

    I’m a big U2 fan, I like their music, I listen to it quite a lot…

I tend to ignore all the politics and crap that seems to surround them…

    Each to their own…

A bit soppy, but who cares………as I stated in a previous message on this forum debate….we had a rescue kitten….

A few days after he was on the road to recovery, he then just disappeared, we spent the whole day looking for him and it was causing us distress.

Then came the evening and we just had to face the fact that he had gone and it was upsetting…………but……….

That night I had a splitting headache and decided to go and lie down for a couple of hours………..to my amazment I heard a scratching in the room (we did have a mouse problem, this would eventually be a job for the kitten).

The little bugger had only climbed into the big drawer under the bed (opened in the morning to change bed sheets) and been sleeping there all day………it was such a relief…

Sorry for your loss, we are great cat lovers, but over the years one or two of our cats have been run over, the road is just a lot busier now…

We have a cat who was pulled back from near death as a farm kitten, mauled by dogs. He has turned out to be lovely cat, but we keep him in the house most of the time beause of the traffic…

Dibbs – How do you find the whyte bikes overall ?

I am looking at the 19 & 905 models, going to one of my LBS to have look at a 905.

I have been looking at peugeot’s, but a mate of mine who is a mechanic has advised against them because of the electrics.

He looks at 1 or 2 every week and its nearly always electrical faults…so its kinda put me off peugeots…

Without naming & shaming I have had bad service from one or two other shops over the years….

Any idiot or shop can sell something, but its the customer service/after sales that is important, just in case things start to go wrong…

    Oh right…..

Are they really that bad ?!

And so you should. I don’t care for them myself nor do I own any of their music, but saying they’re crap (and then qualifying it with “in my opinion”) is just nonsense. You don’t like them…that is a fact. But saying they’re crap? Nope, you’re wrong.

I dont like or dislike them, I just think the music is rubbish, its not nonsense, its my view and opinion. Its not a case of being right or wrong 🙂

I’m a big fan of u2, I like their music, I listen to them a lot.

I tend to ignore all the politics and stories about them, they just make good music, IMO.

We all have different taste’s and that’s what it’s all about, different people, different music, different opinions etc.

This is not a comparison between u2 and the The Beatles, but I CANT stand The Beatles, I think they are crap, over rated shite! But that’s just my view/opinion and I am sure I will get jumped on for saying the The Beatles are crap!

    🙂
