I have one … s’alright, not really had a chance to use it much only around the house to test it. But, it is very small. I like the idea that you just turn it on and it starts recording, minimal settings so simple to use really – I tend to just set up my cameras and use rather than mess about with lots of different settings.

But, it won’t connect to the GoPro app I have on my phone, my silver camera does, but the session needs an updated app which I can’t install as my android phone doesn’t have the latest operating system. And for some reason when I try to run the videos from the session it wants to download the file to somewhere then I have to find it to run it, annoying as again with the silver I just connect it and run the videos from the camera.

I’d have been disappointed with it if I paid full price – wasn’t it something silly like £300+ when it first came out?

Here’s some more info about the bearings, useful video link too, worth knowing if you have a mk2

    maybe you have a mk1 ?

Although I wouldn’t do 35in/lbs as this almost locks mine, finger tight is enough

Bearings on the mk2 àre adjustable if you get play, about £35 for a set on Stif cycles if you need to replace. The carbon link is expensive if you need to replace that but unlikely if it’s been looked after. Lower link bearings can seize if not pumped with grease regularly as they’re in a vulnerable place. Great do it all bike! Put 180mm Totems on it for the Alps, Lyriks for mincing on the South Downs

Looks similar to a dent that happened to a bike of mine that got flown out to Nepal. I spent a lot of time carefully packing it in a cardboard box with pipe lagging, bubblewrap, spare tyres etc and the front wheel axle still managed to put a dent in the frame. But, that was being manhandled by 2 different airlines.

And, if I was buying something like this, costing quite a bit of my hard earned money, I’d be quite excited about it and open it and inspect it the day it arrived! So I don’t quite get why it’s taken them so long to get back to you? Really in 10 to 15 mins you can get it out the box and inspect it, then if it’s damaged in transit you can then claim against the couriers straight away.

I got a session for £140 from halfords recently with a discount code, really small and I like that it has one button operation, turns on and starts recording with one press, not as many settings as the hero cameras but once I’ve set it up I tend not to adjust anything anyway. I know of a couple of friends who have mucked up their recording by pressing the wrong combination of buttons on the hero.

There must be some guarantee against poor manufacture, and I’d say that’s poor manufacture. If moisture can can get there then it’s poor manufacture, it’s not been made properly, like others have said how can they expect to have something in a kitchen and for it to never get wet/damp at some stage. Odd that they would also bond such a small decorative piece on there, surely the edge would have just been machined. Do you know what the doors are made of, likely to be MDF, and how the is metal looking piece on the base fixed on as it almost looks like they’ve put some screws in too close to the edge and it’s caused the material to split (could be glued on?) ?

Oh, and start recording what they say, you can’t use it as evidence unless you let them know they are being recorded, but it can help when you try to remember who said what and when.

I’d be insisting all new doors thankyou!

Threads like this are inspiring, what a lucky lot we are, look at the places we go and things we do.

My year hasn’t been that great, life’s got in the way a bit, even when I do get out I’m stressed about stuff I need to deal with at home, gotta stop doing that!

My ride of the year would have to be a black xc route at Les Gets, some seriously challenging natural stuff on that ride, sorry no pics, but a refreshing change from the manmade dh stuff 😀

    Trans Alps route

This is what I was going to suggest when I read the op.

I did a route that goes from Austria to Lake Garda, easily ridable on a hardtail, well signed, amazing scenery. All natural trails, no mega downhill stuff so no need for pads or full face. One of the best trips I’ve done. But this was an organised trip so places to stay were sorted out for us, easily done yourself with a bit of research.

    This:

When the falcon appears I gasped and was in tears. The whole thing was such a big part of my childhood.

    Loads more welling up moments.

I thought it was only me! The sound of the TIE fighters and Mellenium Falcon going into lightspeed. Same when the X Wings came across the water and the old characters appeared.

Was a bit dissapointed when the bad guy removed his mask, I was expecting a nasty looking thug instead of a pretty boy. How come his long hair wasn’t sticking out the back of his helmet when he had it on?

Anyone remember sets of cards you could collect back in 1977, you’d get about 5 cards and a very hard stick of gum?

Really enjoyed it, although I feel like I need an episode 6.5 to fill in some details. I’ll have to go and see it again.

48 here and a friend is 62, we’ve been going to the Alps for a few years now and thorougly enjoy it, you’ll be fine.

*I’d just get out and ride, you’ll learn basic skills just by riding, that’s how we did it 25+ years ago. Then when you’ve improved fitness and got some miles in, get some training to improve your skills.

*If you’ve not done anything physical for a while build up your fitness, I wouldn’t go in all gung ho as that’s when you’ll make mistakes and end up crashing and with injuries.

We don’t bounce like we used to, we have a running joke that we tend to risk assess every lip, jump, bump, mud, loose gravel and bit of rock now.

*Not an expert but all just my opinion 🙂

No, 26 ain’t dead, you just can’t buy it anymore!

Most of the people I know are still on 26, a few have 29ers and that’s it. A group of us go to the Alps every year and all were on 26, no one even talked about wheel sizes and no one’s likely to change bikes soon, we all just got on with enjoying them.

Also on local club ride recently, I thought I’d take my 29er so I’d fit in with all the young cool dudes and their fast xc type bikes. Out of about 12 only 2 were on a 29er, everyone else 26.

It’ll be a good few years before I buy a new bike now, I have plenty of 26in tyres, forks, frames that work perfectly to keep me going for ages

Or is it just because normally no one flags it up?

Yeah, had me wondering this too! If I wasn’t around to check on things and the kitchen finished and all the plinths had been put in place anything could have been hiding. There was someone earlier that posted some class work from BandQ. And, if you get a little old lady that knows know different they’ll believe a so called professional.

The company has agreed to sort the kitchen out and we’ve got it detailed in a proper letter. This will include re-doing some pipework, moving cupboards and fitting filler panels, changing a cupboard size to accommodate our washing machine better, end support panels, retiling, sorting the floor out, sorting the sink out, a few other bits and pieces and a good tidy and clean up.

We feel a bit better, but it shouldn’t have got to this messy stage in the first place!

For those interested here’s the latest news..

Electrician been around and was really apologetic, says he’s going to sort it all out and that he doesn’t usually work like this, no excuse really!

We had a letter from the company confirming our meeting today, noticed they’d cc their solicitor in it too, first bit of proper communication we’ve had from them, they must be worried.

We’ve got them on fraudulent misrepresentation so contract is basically null and void, but that doesn’t help us with getting our money back as it’s still down to us to take them to court. It’s so frustrating that there isn’t some legal body or government department that can just make them accountable for what they’ve done and make them pay up or sort it out. What’s the point of having regulations, laws or codes of practice? 👿

We had ours last week. It’s the first one I’ve gone to, I’ve been there just over a year but didn’t go last year. We’re lucky, they take over the whole pub for the night, put ‘X’ amount of money behind the bar so free drinks until it runs out, load of food laid on, dj and boogieing if that’s your thang.

But, I’m gonna moan! … Being a bit antisocial as I get older, I’d like to have the choice that if I don’t want to go I could have my share of the cost in my wages please as an xmas bonus. Bah humbug!

Will I go next year, oh yes! 😀

I was thinking about Building Control yesterday. I’m not 100% but I think if you move the consumer unit you’re supposed to notify them unless a qualified electrician does it and certifies it? Maybe someone on here might be more clued up on this than me?

Yes its all a bit stressful at the moment, unlikely we’ll have a finished kitchen by Xmas, they started back in October. We just don’t want to go in there 😐

    Kojaklollipop

Yeah, sparky does have qualifications – according to his website. But he and the guy that did our kitchen were both young, we’ve complained about their work a few times and nothings been done about it. Our kitchen is quite shocking, I’ve had a few kitchen fitters to come in to have a look and one said it looks like amateur diy. Another said that the electrics have not been done by a qualified electrician.

We have a long list of faults we want dealt with but I just don’t think they are capable of it, it just seems odd that the owner shouts at me telling me I’ve been a pain and that I got what I signed for. If it was all ok I wouldn’t be complaining!

    Kojaklollipop

I’ve had some advice from a solicitor.

Basically I can only claim for anything above the original quote that it costs to get it put right. I have to get quotes so I’ll be looking for the best fitter I can find! I have a recommend electrician coming tomorrow so I’ll get a cost for putting all that right. But, we do still need to give them a chance to put things right 👿

    Kojaklollipop

No, not paid in full, but they have had a large chunk (which I’m so annoyed at myself about)

They also claim to be a member of something they are not (not going to say what), so that’s going to be under investigation.

I’m trying to get other kitchen companies to have a look and quote for the work to be brought up to standard so I can put it in writing to the company, not having much luck so far. I understand why companies don’t want to do this but it’s draining trying to sort all this out 😥

Yeah, nasty, we’ve only had to deal with the woman so far, she just seems incompetent, but now we’ve seen what the husbands like.

From what I’ve heard their sons have taken over the work and things aren’t going well, the husband used to do quality work and their son’s are not chip off the old blocks so the company id under a lot of stress. If that’s the case don’t take on the work! Mental!

Well, if anyone is interested …

I went to see the kitchen company today. They haven’t been responding to emails so I’ve started to take copies in to them and asking them to sign a receipt just to confirm that they have had that printed copt of the email. So the husband part of the owners told the woman, who we’ve mostly been dealing with, not to sign anything. I try to explain that it’s only to confirm that they’ve had this copy and I won’t leave until they’ve signed for it. Long story short the husband starts kicking off, swearing and shouting at me to get out the shop, claiming I’ve been a pain, claiming that they’ve never had complaints before, saying take them to court. All this was going on while they had a rep from some company in the shop.

Shame no customers were in there.

dooosuk – that’s the bottom of our new electric oven, it’s just delivery protection tape on a stainless strip that we haven’t taken off yet. But another thing you might notice is that we don’t have any ‘end support panels’ on our cupboards, this was something another kitchen fitter noticed 😐

From what I’ve heard (I’m an industrial spark, not domestic – so not directly involved with any of them) they are gathering the bottom end of the market by offering lower membership fees and having lower entry requirements in addition to fewer verification activities.
Your install certainly seems to validate that opinion!

ELECSA – I have emailed them the same images and more as the work under the cooker wasn’t great, we had bare connections there too but saw them earlier so he put a plastic box around them like this …

Is there another professional or regulartory body that I can contact to get this assessed? Rlectrical Safety Register? Although a quick google shows this is now ‘electrical competent person’ website He is listed on this.

The thing is, as a good trademan once told me, it can be just as much work to do a job badly as it can be to do a good job. I just don’t understand how some of these people think it’s ok to do work like this.

lerk – is ELECSA no good then, I’m I likely to get nowhere or no joy with them?

We’re not using the kitchen and don’t intend to until we know it’s ok, we can use the hob but not keen on using the electric oven.

Blazin-saddles, it infuriates me too, trouble is until we have some kind of official body that actually deals with this, straight away, they’ll just keep getting away with it.

Me partners sister lives in Australia and she can’t believe Trading Standards won’t do anything, she said if you make a complaint there they go and see the company immediately asking why they’re not doing work correctly.

It seems here everyone buries their head in the sand. I was told once, by trading standards, that they can’t do anything unless they receive a lot of complaints about a company/person. So all someone needs to do is keep changing their trading name. But how many people actually complain? Some people don’t know how to, are scared to or just put up with a bad job.

Thanks all, 😆 at some of the comments.

The electrcians website has an ELECSA logo on it so I’ll be emailing them. Looks shoddy to me but so do a lot of things in the kitchen. I could’ve done it better myself but I can say the same with most of the kitchen.

    😀

Actually, I can’t understand why there’s a join there anyway?

also noticed there’s some blue/brown cables visible under the socket in the cupboard, this is for the washing machine, surely the outer (grey) part of the cable should go into the socket? … It’s all just so poorly done!

Well, interesting, I’ve got 2 local kitchen fitters coming to have a look and give an opinion on the work. One of them guessed who it was before we even told them so that’s not good. I went to my local Howdens and mentioned that they said the sink is warped and they laughed, they said no manufacturer would produce work that bad as they’d have so many returns. There was a few people in there that couldn’t believe what I was saying.

Anyway, we’ve stopped any more work being done and I’m looking into the small claims court now as it’s just getting rediculus. Now nearly 7 weeks without a completed kitchen, it’s 2.5 x 3m, maybe 8 cupboards to fit.

alanl – might be someone else your thinking of, but before they siliconed it it rocked if you lent on the back/left where the gap is, to everyone, apart from the kitchen company, it seemed that it was rocking on the side of the cupboard, I really expected them to remove a bit out of the cupboard where the casting sits to see if it would sit better but this company seems to be trying to do the least amount of work they can get away with. The silicon work isn’t that great, messy and smeared on the work surface, white would have been better in my opinion.

Floor looks level, it was ply boarded befpre installation and the cupboards are on adjustable legs so should be level.

Going to phone the sink company this morning as they are open Saturday but might have to wait til Monday for technical information on tolerances etc.

The rear casting of the sink is resting on the top of the cupboard, we can’t even get a piece of paper under it, the front part we can and the front of the sink is ok it’s the rear that is sticking up.

Worktop is oak and about 26mm thick.

To be honest we’ve had a lot of issues with the company, they are turning out to be absolutely useless at dealing with anything. They’ve admitted they don’t read our emails, they don’t do what we ask and do things that we don’t ask for!

    Kojaklollipop
    Free Member

Mmm, actually that worktop is like that in a few places along it’s length. How can I get it checked that it’s going to be ok, I don’t know where they got it from and I know they’ll say it’s ok, but how can I get an official opinion? Maybe get another kitchen fitter in?

    Kojaklollipop

Oh, we only discoved the silicon tonight as it was done today, doesn’t look great to me, but I’ve emailed the manufactuer of the sink to see what they say but unlikely to hear anything until Monday.

This was an expensive kitchen sink, double bowl with drainer, maybe 1m by 0.5m. To me it looks as though part of the drainer underneath is sitting on the side part of a fitted cupboard – first photo, so I thought it was stopping the sink from fitting flat onto the work surface, I’d have tried to remove some material to see if it fitted better but they just said it’s warped and filled any gaps with silicon – second photo – that gap at the back is about 5mm

Did you ring 101 or 999? 101 ime was a waste of time and maybe 999 should be left for immediate emergency but I’d be down the local station or on the phone to your local station. On our local police website you can find the numbers of local PCs and I called one of them and they were fantastic with a problem I was having a few years ago, took it seriously whereas 101 just kept saying there was nothing they could do.
