    Trimble … Nooooo ! 😉

Surely, if it was ahead of it's time we'd still have bikes made like that?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, I'm a bit less than 16st but it's only maybe an inch more travel, if I was going to 140 – 160mm I think it would be a different story?

This is 10 years old and still going strong

I think the original dates back to 1996 ?? … or was that the Tampon, sorry Tazmon(?)

Hi, updated graphic card drivers, but still get the same problem, here's a screen grab:

Also plays the same, with the green half screen, on other PC's

    Any other thoughts??

Oh yeah, Elements works ok, but as it's the trial version it has that 'Created with Adobe Premiere Elements 7 trial version' plastered right across the screen, I could purchase the full version I suppose, but movie maker is 'usually' quick and easy.

Ok, I'll try the graphics card drivers update and another pc.

Pook, would be nice to send the whole file but it's 364mb, tried something like that before and it didn't work, but I still need to edit out the 60 seconds or so I want to send.

Just trying out the Premiere Elements at the mo, I've used Premiere 6.0 in the past but that won't work with most stuff these days and doesn't seem update-able? But, the quality of the video on Elements doesn't look very good so far, although I've not exported it yet so hope it looks better when completed … although I'm guessing as it's only the trial version it will have that 'Created with Adobe Premiere Elements 7 triel version' plastered all over it?

    Cheers.

Yeah, plays ok inside movie maker.

When I publish it I do:

Publish for 'this computer' name the file and destination,

Then settings, I've tried, 'Best quality for playback on my computer(recommended)' and 'More Settings > Windows media low bandwidth, and Windows media VHS quality, and Windows Media portable device(PAL)' …

they all have the same green split screen, the half screen video playback that you see all looks ok.

I'm trying to edit a 60 second clip and make it a smaller file to email someone. I've just downloaded Premiere Elements trial to see if I can get more success on that?

    Thanks

vinnyeh, doesn't have to be the same headset as long as it's a split race so I don't have to bash the race on and off each time, just thought the WTB would be a cheaper option, Hope is a bit expensive for me, I'll look into a FSA …

    cheers

There's a few in the UK on ebay, try '900 lumen light' but 2 are auctions and one has a BIN of £120 😯 I'd rather wait 3 weeks than pay that though (offer them £50 as that what it costs), and some listed in Hongkers at higher than DX prices – but they might be in stock or ship faster?

Toddboy, where did you find the place that has the Y cable and spare light units?

But, why not just buy another, or 2, complete DX light sets and run 2 battery packs – the battery's are so small and light anyway, surely it's got to be cheaper than trying to source parts, cables, soldering, cost of postage, etc?

Would be interested to know if anyone is running 2 of these and if it makes a lot of difference – yeah, obviously you get more light, but is it useful light … if you know what I mean?

There's a few of these lights on ebay at higher prices than the DX deals, there's even one in the UK where someone has put a £120 BIN price !! 😯

Great lights though, was out with mine last night, might order another!

I'm ok as long as I don't stop, then I'm convinced it's going to be like that scene in Pitch Black where one of them lights up a cigerette or something and they are surrounded by nasty looking creatures 😯

… not that I stop to light up, but I look around and can't see anything outside of my bike mounted lights

Oh, and try it on the strobe/flash mode … far out man!*

But it's great fun, I'm buzzing for hours after 😀

*er, of course, only on the bits of trail you know very well

Mine's arrived at last, took 6 days from leaving HK to my door (that's from the HK postal service saying it has left for the UK and not DX's time it was posted) tracking number wouldn't work on the royal mail or parcel force services though. Very impressed, stunning for the money, out-shines my old Marwi Night Pro halogens 35w (15+20w) on half power, lights up my whole garden on full power – 80 foot. Glad to see it can be adjusted side to side a bit too – going to mount mine near my grips so I can change the settings easily with my thumb on the rear switch, and the flash mode is a flashing rather than strobe. The whole package is so small I can fit it in a medium size digital camera pouch. But the battery pouch is a bit iffy, and seems to have a strap missing, as mentioned so better to get one of the lumicycle one's.

    😀

ordered on the 21st … arrived this morning

Dammit! Still waiting for mine and ordered on the 19th Sept, had a email saying posted on the 5th Oct but they didn't get off the ground until the 10th! Not fair, luckily not needing em yet, but y'know what it's like … I want it now! Grrr 🙁 … maybe tomorrow?

A continuous stream of slow traffic (running pace) that would not let me cross the road, empty the other side, I had my bike halfway across the lane but still no one would let me through, they moved over to the other side of the road MUPPETS! Had to force a car to stop otherwise I'd probably still be there! 👿

somebody bring out a modern 1 inch short-travel fork, purlease

Marzocchi had some 1 inch MX Pro's around, think they had 80 or 100 mm travel, CRC had some but can't find them there now so might be worth doing a goooooooogle?

Early 90's Specialized S-Works, found one last year, fast and light, but it's got a very low front end by today's standards … and a 94 FSR I have in the loft awaiting new bushes, nice!

Oh and if someone is using the 17 degree bend Salsa Moto's can they put a pic up and give a quick review, not sure if I'd be wanting the 11 or 17 bend, difficult to picture what they's be like just from a pic on a website ?

    Thanks

Thanks for the replies, I had to do some work so only just been able to catch up on this thread, interesting. I wish I could do without a car myself but I think a move to a better climate and slower lifestyle would be needed 😳

What about your arms and legs, are they sufficiently insulated as well as your fingers and toes, long sleeve tops, arm warmers and leg warmers, might help with the blood supply to your extremities??

I haven't sold stuff for a while but I'm often on the lookout for some bike bits and pieces and I'm amazed at the prices they go for, used stuff almost reaches new retail prices, I know people get carried away with having to win the auction but don't they ever do a search to see how much they can get them for new, same with some used BIN prices, there was a used XT wheelset recently that was the same as I could buy them for new!! Eh? So very rare to buy stuff on there now, I'll pay an extra £10 to £20 and buy new…

Non-bikey stuff still seems reasonable though?

Is everyone putting all their kit in a rucksack on these bivi trips? … I'm wondering about using a rack to carry the lightish bulky stuff like sleeping bag, bivibag and sleeping mat in a rack top bag, not being too heavy should be ok on the back for off-road? Anyone know of a decent rack top bag for this sort of thing? I'm liking the Epic Designs bags mentioned further up but want something like that for the top of a rack. Any suggestions?

Still using square taper BB and cranks on mine so I just got a slightly wider BB, more clearance and no problems with chainline 🙂

I've not looked at the other thread but have seen posts about the chainsuck on these frames before, be a good idea for on-one to put some chainsuck things on the driveside chainstay like the old Bontragers used to have? Remember those? Was like a couple of bottle cage bosses under the chainstay with a small adjustable plate, just on the driveside so you could still have the mud clearance. Can't be that expensive or difficult to include can it? 😕

Interesting replies and gives me some more options to look at 😀

My winter commute will be shorter than my summer route as I'm cheating and driving half way 😳 so only about half hour, but the bit going home when I'll need the lights runs alongside the wrong side of the road so I'm almost head-on into the traffic so really just want to be able to see the path and be seen – it's a shared foot/bike path – but not dazzle drivers, but then a couple of miles at the end is off road away from any lights so that's when I want the more powerful lights.

Hadn't even considered the dynamo idea, like it though, was musing on the idea of one of those to charge phone, gps, batteries, etc for touring a while ago?

So, I'm guessing that none of the proper bright off road lights have side visibility – apart from this glowring thing that's been mentioned?

Yeah, I guess I'll have to bodge up something with zip-ties, the only bit that I can't seem to work out is the end near the BB, usually you would bolt that to the chainstay brace bit but there isn't one on the Inbred.

I have got a rack with a platform, one of the reasons for getting the Inbred was that it had the rack fittings but I'd rather use mudguards for the winter.

Anyone know if there is a mudguard that has a fitting to go on the seat tube instead, a full wrap around mudguard, I have one of those shorter plastic one's that clip onto the seat tube and it's rubbish.

I'm looking to put some mudguards on my Inbred too, just done a search and this thread came up …

So, epicsteve how did you put guards on then? I've got a newer Inbred but without the small brace inbetween the chainstays or a hole in the mono-stay seatstay bit what do you attach the rear guard to, any tips?

    Thanks

Thanks for the link simonk, and interesting to see the link to the Topeak rack that fits disk brake bikes.

Did think about using V's on the back but all of my wheels, except for a really old pair, are disc brake only, don't really want to fork out for new wheels too, and I have a couple of racks already – maybe just space those out?

Epicsteve – what size rotor have you got on the back, is it a 180mm, the caliper looks as far forward as it goes and still looks a bit tight in there? Or is there more space around the seatstay than it look like in the pic?

I'll try and find out bit more on fitting the BB7's

    Cheers everyone!

Sounds just like something that happened on some new one's I had, it turned out the be the plastic sleeve on the spring, think it's on there to stop it making knocking noises when compressed, anyway it hadn't been put on properly, bit of it sticking out rather than being wrapped around the coils, and was fouling the internals so the shop trimmed it down to stop it fouling. Might be worth checking, or take them back for the shop if it's local and get them to have a look?

Same happened to some of mine, couple of inches came undone, but I just sewed it back up myself in about 5 minutes, but I mail ordered mine and couldn't be bothered with the hassle of sending back or trying to get a replacement.

Also I find them so small compared to the shorts I'm always catching a toe or getting tangled up in them trying to put them on and inevitably pull some stitching once a week!

I reckon soon there will be just one season … winter, and at this time of year it just means we get to see the rain and wind for longer 😥

Yep, I find the inners too tight, the shorts are baggy but I've lost weight but the inners are still too tight, I sometimes wear them under other shorter shorts so try to pull the lower legs up and they really cut in, even the XL have a diameter of just over 14 inches which is more like my arm size!

Anyone managed to stretch or loosen them up a bit somehow, it's the elastic part that is too tight? Probably made in Vietnam where everyone's small anyway?

A man walking the same trail naked except for a rucksack – I think it was that guy who said he had a right to ramble naked a couple of years ago?

And, a woman using one of those she-wee things – she looked a bit embarrassed and made some comment about she wasn't expecting someone to come along so quickly.
