Self drive Namibia – Waterburg Plateau, Etosha National ParK, Skeleton Coast, Sossusvlei (largest sand dunes in the world). We took three weeks to do the trip and it is without doubt the best trip I have ever done. Best to do it in the dry season when the animals are round the water holes and the roads are not washed away!

    La Quinta Inn, Manhattan

A good hotel situated very close to the Empire State Building. Good free breakfast and great views of the Empire State from the roof bar. Really good Korean restaurant almost opposite the entrance.

This was 10 minutes in a an hour long magazine programme, what did you expect?
It was never going to be or meant to be an in depth study of mountain biking on the Chase. Oh and if a television presenter was riding with me and stupidly asked how do I stop I would also tell her to pull the left leaver. I mean would you want to see Julia go over the handle bars?

I was in Sports Direct today and their winter gloves were £12.99. Looked and felt o.k.

Had my jab two days ago and no problems. Do not want flu again, only had it once and once is enough. I came home from work feeling fine half an hour later started shivering and five minutes after that I could hardly crawl upstairs to bed. Have the jab if you are not allergic to eggs or chickens!

    Gig has sold out.

Obviously a very health and safety conscious guy just testing the rock formations for there stability prior to when he brings his little red neck troop round. Next weekend it’s a visit to Monument Valley.

Two weeks ago on a quiet, little trail on Cannock Chase which I usually only use in the winter. Decided to have a look at it to see if it was overgrown. Not too bad really but the brambles growing across the trail got me. First puncture in about two years!

To be a “good school” in OFSTED terms you have to have a good attendance figure, if you are not classed as a “good school” by OFSTED then the school is classed as “needing to improve” if the school doesn’t improve then the headteacher is sacked!
So you can see why headteachers are under pressure to have good attendance figures.

I’m close to 62 and love my Trek Superfly Al Elite. Spend a lot of time on Cannock Chase and can usually do the Monkey in under sixty minutes. I’ve done the Marin, Coed Y Brenin, Penmachno plus many others all on hardtail!

Much more exciting than last nights boring highlights from Singapore. The race looked like and felt like some sort of computer game. Then at the end when Mark Webber brings a bit of old time F1 to the programme by riding in on the side of another car he gets penalized for it!

Don’t normally watch this but saw last nights and what surprised me was that business plans were not looked at in the first programme. Some of those thrown out earlier may have had excellent ideas and plans but just happened to fail on some silly “game”. Still I suppose if they did it that way round you would not end up with as good a show.

As Pob seems to think he knows all there is to know about education. far more than actual teachers. I think he should be made to spend the rest of his life teaching the curriculum of his personal design (Latin? English History, Religious studies) to classes of 5-16 year olds, in a damp, grey, crumbling sink school in the dodgiest estate in the country, where there are 30 different languages spoken
Lets see how he gets on
    POSTED 7 MINUTES AGO # REPORT-POST

With detailed lesson plans to produce every evening and marking with lots of comments, plus an OFSTED inspector with him to pull him apart on any slight mistake especially if the pace of the lesson does not meet the inspectors personal criteria!

Otherwise you are best looking for somewhere in Kendal

    Are you using sintered pads?
I had squeaky brakes and tried everything to stop it. Eventually changed pads and put resin pads on, silent brakes now, peace at last!

it also depends what type of pads your using, i tried everything to get sintered pads to work, but they kept squealing,

I’m having the same issue with sintered pads.

I do a weekly litter pick on my local trail. Finding inner tubes hanging in trees and bushes is quite common. Last week found two plus the empty box. The most common litter is plastic energy drink bottles, usually Lucozade followed by Red Bull and just dropped on the trail. Those with a slight feeling of guilt try to hide their rubbish behind a log or rock! Gel sachets are found all along the trail usually with just enough of there sticky contents still in side to run out all over my gloves.

I find bike debris littering the trails most common are reflectors followed by mudguards, rear lights and surprisingly glasses. It’s also surprising how many empty cigarette packets are found, usually at the top of an uphill section.

Anyway I’m just about to go out now to do my litter pick.
