Thanks for advice, only rode finger tight to get back to car, so not fully mental yet, though many who know me would probably disagree!

Old Dog – Section 13 dug up to stop you riding it.
Section 14 a bit overgrown with bracken and brambles at this time of the year.
Section 15 two or three trees across the trail that were blown down earlier this year.
Section 16 trail buried under brash from tree felling last year.
So no the Old Dog is not ridable. It would have made an excellent diversion if it had not been dug up, far better than the one being used during the four days the new sections are to be closed for.

I have a two Roberts and the reception is excellent on both. One is a small portable with its own aerial and the other is a larger radio which I have in the bedroom and this has a short wire aerial which I have extended. I have noticed that with the car digital radio there are pockets where the reception is very poor. Where I live there is a street I go down and in the same place, a matter of no more than than twenty, thirty metres there is no reception at all.

Will this result in more empty cans of Red Bull being dropped on my local trails?

Aberdovey, Fairbourne, Barmouth, all have very nice beaches, close to a few trail centres and Cader Idris is always worth a climb.

Watching ITV’s effort of broadcasting Le Tour at the moment and the number of breaks for adverts I would gladly pay a fee to ITV if they stopped showing adverts!

We have had a set for years, used most days but still in very good condition. The problem my wife has, which a few others have mentioned, is they are getting too heavy for her to lift.

It’s a few years ago since I went with my son but some of this may be useful. Get there early, we managed to park in a field quite close to the circuit and so not too far to walk. Took all our provisions for the weekend with us and decided to sleep in the car. On the Saturday we wandered all round the track seeing things from different view points. Back to the car in the evening and moved it as close to the exit as possible . Good night’s sleep then get to where you want to watch the race early.

I’ve been using them for years now and would not have anything else. One or two people warned me of issues with them when I was first thinking of having them, but when I got them I took to them straight away. They are expensive, the ones I’m wearing now were £600, but you pay for what you get.

Lawrence of Arabia, a fascinating and complicated person. His book “The Seven Pillars of Wisdom” is certainly worth reading.
    Undoubtedly true

If he had been listened to a little more, by the politicians of his day, the Middle East might not be in the mess it is today.
    Undoubtedly questionable

Yes you are right, I think I was being a bit flippant in saying that.

Love my Trek Superfly 9.8, as soon as I tried one I new it was the bike for me. However you should try some others first. It will be interesting to see what you decide on.

It amazes me how he has lasted so long. He may be mad as a hatter but very clever with it.

As someone who regularly collects the rubbish left by mountain bikers on my local trails I would suggest you are a litter bug. Not perhaps in the same league as those that drop their lucozade bottles, Red Bull cans and their sticky gel sachets and tabs, however if you can carry it on to the trails then there is no reason not to take it home with you.

Watched the concert from the Albert Hall last night. Jim Radford was the highlight of the evening. A well deserved standing ovation.

I have used GPS on Virgin Trains and it definitely worked. Coming back from London one night wanted to know where we were, put on the GPS, Google Maps on phone and showed exact position. Did not connect to Strava however!

I have a VW Tiguan and there is nothing to show the lights are on when on auto. They seem to work well but I think some indication to show they are on would be useful.

I can’t understand why a drink that gives you so much energy results in so many leaving their empty can on the trails.

Having picked up lots of these cans during litter picks, on my local trail, the smell of the dregs left in the can puts you off ever wanting to drink the stuff.

The most common energy drink bottle left on the trails however is lucozade by a big margin.
Is this because it’s the most popular energy drink or is it that people who drink it are just litter louts?

I was going to put Castell y Bere on here, so well done Klunk. A great castle and as you say in a beautiful, peaceful place.
Also a great starting place for a ride up Cader Idris.

I’ve had a Humax box for about four years now and no complaints, other than the TV guide is a bit slow. I think they are all the same regarding the volume control and HD, mine certainly is.

Every car I have driven in this country the speedometer has shown 73/74 mph when the satnav shows 70 mph. In the USA the speedometers have always matched the speed shown on the satnav. Is it a European directive that speedometers have to show a speed higher than your actual speed or just manufacturers whim?

Personally I would prefer a speedometer that showed my actual speed.

They are probably tree bees. It seems they arrived in this country about 12 years ago and have been spreading across the country since then.
I had them in a bird box, in my garden, last year. They proved to be harmless and from what I have read are not dangerous. Best just to leave them alone. You should find they will have gone by the end of June. A friend of mine has some in a bird box at the moment.

Getting an image on here seems beyond me, but had to mention the A380. The smoothest take offs, landings and flights I’ve been on. Just a pity the airline companies still squeeze as many passengers on as possible instead of giving a little extra leg room.

Perhaps someone else can get an image on for me.

Just read about it on the BBC website. Should make for an interesting start tomorrow. I would imagine they will take each other out on the first bend. I can’t see Lewis letting Nico get away with that little move!

According to Yougov if you are a Nick Cave fan you probably listen to 6 Music.

I like Nick Cave, and I think Cerys is great. I’m too old for Radio 1, old enough for Radio 2 but can’t stand Steve Wright so listen to 6 Music.

Best approach to Vevice is on the ferry from Punta Sabbioni, in the late afternoon. Worth getting the ferry to Punta Sabbioni just for the view when coming back. Colours of the buildings with the sun on them are fantastic.
