My first Golf was a 1977 LS followed by two Sciroccos then a Mk2 GL. I didn’t like the Mk3 so moved to Citroen Volcane then two Mk 4 Golfs, a spell with Audi and am now on my fourth Tiguan.

Having great difficulty as to what to have next, the new Tiguan diesel or  the new Ford Kuga Active PHEV. I pull a caravan.

    Any advice much appreciated.

First time I had that test, many years ago, I was told that if I failed it no more driving. It certainly put the pressure on to hit those dots!
Last Sunday, due to cataract, I’ve been banned from driving until it’s removed. No problem with that accept it’s a four month waiting list. Appointment on Tuesday to see consultant to go private, hopefully may be a bit quicker.

i have a Sony UBP-X700 4k UHD HDR and up to now very pleased. Very compact, feels a bit plastic compared to my previous Sony Blu Ray and you only have the option of controlling it using the remote but no complaints about picture quality and everything works as it should. I got it from John Lewis just under a year ago. £229

I have a 2019 VW Tiguan which I think was one of the last Tiguans where the option was to switch it on rather than being on by default. On the Tiguan forums there has been a lot of discussion about it and from what I have read it can be switched off with the right software on a laptop connected to the car’s management system. I have used lane assist on motorways and can certainly see its benefit there but ordinary roads not so sure about.

My wife’s Polo has it on permanently and I have to say I have not really found it a problem. If you use your indicator to pull round park cars it does turn off the lane assist and if having to swerve in an emergency your reaction at the time would probably mean you would not even notice the very slight pull of the steering to keep you within the road’s lines. My wife mentioned it once or twice when she first got the car but hasn’t said anything about since. I think you’ll get use to it in time.

Good luck to you to, hope things get better for you. I’m going to give it another few months and see how things are going and if things are not improving then an E bike will be on order.

In late July 2022 I had Covid for the second time, it was no worse than a mild cold and lasted three or four days. Back then I would consider myself to be a fit seventy year old and mountain biking on at least three days a week.
At the beginning of October I had the Covid and flu vaccinations on the same day. Shortly after my nose felt blocked. I saw my doctor who said I had an infection in my nose. Following a course of antibiotics there was no improvement and I was sent to see an ear, nose and throat specialist and again diagnosed with an infection. Stronger antibiotics prescribed. At the same time I started with a pain in my lower leg which I put down to a pulled muscle from mountain biking. I went on holiday for a couple of weeks and during the holiday developed pain in both legs and difficulty breathing. On returning from holiday I was now having difficulty walking and ended up in hospital for eight days where following numerous tests and scans I was diagnosed with ANCA vasculitis, a quite rare disease. Vasculitis is the name for a group of conditions that cause inflammation of the blood vessels. By the time of diagnosis I could only get round in a wheel chair.
There is no cure for vasculitis, though following the treatment I’m having the hope is it will go into remission for approximately five years before there is a 50% chance of it returning.
I am now able to ride my mountain bike again but struggle to do more than three miles of forest road.
It is believed that vasculitis can be in your genes and something then starts it off. I wonder if it was the covid or the vaccinations that kicked off my vasculitis.
Due to my low immunity I have been offered the latest covid booster vaccination but due to my treatment may not be able to have it for a number of months.
Sorry this is so long but I just thought I would relate my experience since having covid and the vaccinations. Whether they are related no one will say or knows.

On the way down I used the drainage ditch at the side of the track, no water in it at the time, it was a great bit of single track but I got a bit carried away with it and ended up going over the handle bars.

I have a 2019 R Line Tdi 2.0 DSG, I think the same as the 2017 SEL you’re looking at. I put a 29er, 19.5 frame in the back, front wheel removed, without any trouble.
I really like the Tiguan, especially the new design. Handling is way better than the original Tiguan and it is a very comfortable car especially for motorway driving, which I do a lot of.
Somebody on here described the a Tiguan as much use as a chocolate teapot. It is no landrover but my 4motion has got me out of muddy fields pulling a caravan. Average mpg for me is 44mpg solo and 30mpg pulling a caravan. I had a manual SEL before the RLine and fuel consumption was about 50mpg on that but when towing was about the same as the DSG, 30mpg.
Reliabilty has been excellent though the self sealing tyres are expensive and if you get a puncture nobody wants to repair them.

I’m another Bonusprint fan and have been using them for many years. Have found their software easy to use and the finished books very good quality. Customer service is also very good. Few years ago I made a big mistake with my order, my fault, I got in touch with customer services and they sorted it straight away.

The new blue is for the Commonwealth Games, not the Dog, I’m sure there will be a few changes here and there and I would imagine the additional features on the old Twist and Shout and the new start to the Dog will be used.
The trail crossing sign for Big John’s Trail is a nice touch as Big John’s Trail makes great alternative to Cardiac Hill. It was nice having a chat with you a few weeks ago, at the bottom of Cardiac Hill, having used your trail for many years.

I thought ’89 better than ’86 but really all of it was excellent. The ending of the last episode of ’89 I thought was very clever.

Every ride since an off years ago and having to pick lots of bits of gravel out of my knee. Try as many as you can to get the best fit, after a couple of rides you won’t notice you are wearing them.

Cannock Chase also packed. People have nowhere else to go. No shops, pubs, restaurants or gyms and can’t go on holiday.

Just a point about the above comment regarding FE dumbing down the Dog and Monkey, unfortunately most of the dumbing down is by fellow so call mountain bikers who think it is ok to build short cuts on corners and chicken runs on every feature that Chase Trails have ever built. Take Zik Zag a great piece of trail building to gain height, there is now a route that cuts every corner, making it virtually a straight line from top to bottom. Not sure if it’s ebikers just ploughing their way to the top through every corner or those on, certain nights, when it seems acceptable to do the Dog in reverse. The result however is a confusing mess.

It was the way you phrased your feeling for this country that made me angry. Some of us have not got that option to just leave and have to make the best of it. Hopefully in four years time, if Labour get things right next election, we may be able to get rid of this useless government. Turning your back on the country will not help. I apologize for what I said and I hope you are successful in your new venture.

I’m 67, a remainer and probably going to vote Labour although I did want to vote Liberal but that may allow the Conservatives into power so I will do a bit of tactical voting. I have very strong concerns regarding the leadership of the Labour Party and their policies however I am far more worried about the Conservatives winning with their lack of policies and the threat of leaving the EU with no deal.
I do feel however that some comments on here regarding Thatcher and blaming her for the destruction of British industry is a bit of a myth, British industry destroyed itself during the 60’s and 70’s through bad management and the overwhelming power of the unions. The other thing that many younger people forget and certainly didn’t experience was the failure of nationalization it didn’t work then and I doubt very much if it will work in the future, if Labour do get into power.

One question, if the coal mines had been kept open over the last thirty years would Corbyn be fighting to close them now because of climate change or is he secretly thankful to Thatcher that she did the job for him?

I’m 5ft 11inches and ride a 19.5 Procaliber 8 and I find it a very comfortable bike. The Iso does not “bob” but does make it a more comfortable ride as I used to get backache on my Trek Superfly but not on my Procaliber. I did have issues with the bike when I first got it with the chain jamming between the two front cogs. Trek replaced the frame with a carbon frame as they didn’t have a colour match, for the aluminium frame. Having found carbon frames a bit too stiff in the past, for my back, the carbon frame on the procaliber is just as comfortable. Great bike.

Whatever the Liberal Democrats may have done or not have done in the past they are the party that want to stay in the E.U. If you want to show a majority for staying in the E.U then I suggest you vote Liberal Democrats. Voting Labour will be seen as endorsing leave. At the moment the Brexit Party are in the lead, according to the polls, can you imagine what Farage will be like if they get a majority and the right wing of the conservative party will take it as a vote for no deal.

I use them all the time. Cuts out the UV which over time can cause cataracts or if you have them already slows their growth down. They don’t work in cars because windscreens cut out UV and these glasses only work by reacting to UV light, that’s what te optician told me. If you think they make a person look creepy that’s your problem.

I married my mother, college mother that is. She wrote to me when she saw my name on a list because I lived near her. It was a thing at college to write to someone who was just starting college to make them feel welcome.. We met in a pub and things went from there. We also discovered we both had photographs in the same edtion of the local paper. Her for being the first 18 year old to vote in our area and me for my canoeing exploits. We are in our 45th year of marriage now.
