GT Zaskar? Elite can be had for around £900 and the Expert for £1300. I’m about the same height as you and tried a medium in my lbs and it felt right.

I’ve recently treated myself to a Pipedream Sirius 4g which are on offer at the moment. It’s very nice. I’ve previously had a MK1 Piglet and a Soul of some description.

They’ve only got medium frames left, I’m a shade under 5’10 and a medium is fine so I reckon you’d be ok. The only niggle is that the BB is very low with 27.5 x 2.6 tyres.

No, I’m in Wiltshire, but I’m a padre so know the museum curator well enough to give him a shout on FB messenger!

He’s in the process of packing up and moving the museum at the moment, so prob not quite as helpful as usual!

I asked the curator of the Museum of Army Chaplaincy, as he is a fount of knowledge on stuff like this. The only thing he was able to tell me is that that particular form was ‘Notification of transfer to hospital.’ I suspect it means he was removed from all lists held by his Regiment/Battalion – pay, food, kit etc.

Does anyone run one of these 27.5+? Currently have a Scott Scale 710+ which doesn’t really light my fire. Used to have an early Ragley Piglet, wondering if the Big Dog with the kit off the Scott would work nicely.

We have a Roku box (about 30 quid) on our old TV. Not tried it myself but you can apparently use it to mirror a mobile screen. Alternatively if your mobile has a WiFi hotspot function you could use it like that.

If you take the Bulford exit you can get to the Solstice services near Amesbury, has a Harvester (or that type of thing), Maccy Ds, Pizza Hut, KFC. Or if you go on a bit further to the main Andover junction, signed Army HQ, there’s a big roundabout with a couple of chain type pubs and another McDs.

If you don’t mind being out of town a bit, the Hilton Double Tree in Bradley Stoke is great.

‘Are there any schemes or charities that take people who are next to broke, with nowhere to stay?’

Yep, as others have said, it’s called the British Army. I left school at 16, arsed about until I was 22 then joined the Royal Signals. I decided I wanted to be a chaplain, so left, trained as a Baptist Minister and came back in a few years ago. I’m just about to begin an MSc.

I hear stories like my own almost daily in my job.

Never got all the fuss over the Square and Compass, it’s ok for a mid ride pint n pasty, but hardly a gastro pub/restaurant.

The Red Lion can look a bit rough from the outside but has a huge garden and does the best steak in Swanage. I’ve even seen the aforementioned Charlie himself having a pint or two in there.

Also in the town centre I’ve had a decent meal in the White Horse.

There’s a couple of pizza/Italian places in the centre which aren’t bad.

I’d avoid Tawnys, used to be our go to place for a meal, but went there last week with the wife and we were both disappointed and it was expensive.

The Crow’s Nest isn’t too bad and has a decent garden, but it’s a bit out of town.

Larry_Lamb has clearly never been unfortunate enough to deal with a debt recovery agency. They are a bunch of lying, cheating, thieves who seek to bully, cajole and frighten people into paying money they don’t owe.

Write them a formal letter of complaint demanding compensation and threatening to complain to the financial ombudsman service. Give them 15 days to respond, if they don’t then write again giving another 15 days. They will almost certainly cease all actions against you by this point. If they still don’t respond, or don’t respond to your satisfaction then you can complain to the financial ombudsman service who will find in your favour and award compensation.

Just been through something similar with a debt recovery company regarding a vehicle I used to own. After my second letter I got a call from one of their managers, very apologetic and asking how much compensation I thought would be adequate.

Happy to provide more info via pm if useful. Or have a here – w<span style=”font-size: 0.8rem;”>ww.financial-ombudsman.org.uk</span>

One of the ingredients of sudocrem is beeswax along with lanolin which is well known for healing cracked skin.

Try it for 10 days and see what happens. Few quid a tub, what you got to lose?

Like MSP said earlier, chances are the op’s condition is caused by fungus. I was given the same advice by a qaranc nurse, and was adamant he was wrong. Turns out he wasn’t.

Sudocrem slathered on and massaged in 3 times a day. My feet are horrible, and I have to wear combat boots all day. But this keeps them soft and supple.<span style=”font-size: 0.8rem;”> </span>

<span style=”font-size: 0.8rem;”>I started doing this on the PQO course at Sandhurst and was really suffering. I saw a difference in a week and after a month or so my feet were great.</span>

If you’re willing to trust me, depending on where exactly the bike is, I could collect it and box it for you. However, you’d need to do the legwork sorting a courier and box. I’ll do my best to pack it well but wouldn’t be liable for any damage. I’m on leave all next week so could prob get it done fairly soon. Shoot me a pm if you wanna discuss.

Quite like my 2017 Scale 710 Plus. Wouldn’t have paid full price for it though!

I decided to split my old Ragley Piglet. Takes a bit more effort, not entirely convinced I got any more for it than I would have done selling it complete. It’s the postage costs that get you.

Is this a first on STW? An argument where people agree to disagree? It can’t be.

    kja78

Alpha 1653, I disagree. The terms are interchangeable. Whether a piece of wire is called an antenna or an aerial it is still physically capable of transmitting and receiving.

Anyway, this is an argument that has been had thousands of times and no doubt will be had thousands more. When writing I always use the abbreviation Ae, so you can read it as either.

Ex Royal Signals Technician here. The terms are interchangeable. When I went through my trade training we had an instructor who insisted that antenna was an Americanism and that we had say aerial.

An antenna/aerial is simply a conductor cut to a certain length and can be used to both transmit and receive. It’s the equipment that’s attached to it that determines what it does. As an example, covert car radios use the car’s radio aerial to transmit and receive. It’s not perfect as the aerial’s not quite the right length for the frequencies, but it works well enough.

I’ve not read the whole thread, but just caught a few comments about NHS chaplains. I briefly worked as a hospital chaplain before becoming an army chaplain. Just a few highlights from my 3 months in a hospital:

Spoon feeding a terminally ill Buddhist patient because the nurses were too busy.

Spending an hour talking to a suicidal woman and then supporting her for the rest of her stay.

Supporting a woman with anorexia who I was told would die within the week, but ended up eating and being discharged.

Numerous times being present with families at the death of loved ones, some wanted prayers, some just wanted an individual present.

Supporting medical staff who were at their wits tend.

I could go on. A very challenging yet rewarding role.

3rd pic is on the Basingstoke canal, around the Deepcut/Pirbright area, definitely cycled past it a few times. 4th I reckon is the Farnborough Air Science Trust museum. Only been there once and was herding my many children around, but pretty certain.

Well, after a bit of hmming and harring I’ve vaguely followed the thread’s advice and bought doggycam’s 853 inbred.

Gonna give my Revs a service and clean all the mud n muck of the drivetrain this weekend ready to build up the Inbred next week.

Big thanks to all those who commented.

    doggycam, sent you a pm.

    Tom13 sent you an email.

Unfortunately the minimum 20 quid postage from on one makes it a bit less of a bargain.

After how long riding a Piglet with a dodgy rear triangle would it matter?

    Sorry OP I couldn’t resist

In fairness every time I go out on it I think to myself ‘I wonder if that vagueness at the rear is ‘cos the back wheel doesn’t point the same way as the front.’

Thanks to all those who have commented, very useful. One advantage of the Inbred is that all the bits inc RSP dropper, will just bolt straight on without faff. That being said Tom’s piglet 2 sounds tempting.

Plans may need to wait as dog needs a tooth taken out, £120 for pre general anaesthetic blood test. Eek. Anywhere between 250 and 350 for the op. Double eek. Hope the insurance covers dental.

Tinas again – The subsequent investigation demonstrated that the complaint was false at which point the case was dropped .

Spawn – unfortunately the police officer conducted no investigation and was in fact heavily criticised by the courts. Another professional involved described the allegation as deliberately emotive and misleading. Oh and this wasn’t a cps but family courts issue.

I didn’t call anyone on here a coward now did I jy?

Crankboy’s post explicitly states that ‘The subsequent investigation demonstrated that the complaint was false at which point the case was dropped.’

My concern is that you and others seem to be revelling in the fact that this girl somehow got her just desserts, when in fact a. The allegations against her were found to be untrue, and b. The behaviour of the police during her arrest and subsequent detention is questionable.

Tinas, I genuinely hope you are never on the receiving end of a false allegation, you will learn the hard way that your beliefs about the police are unfounded .

    kja78

The charge was dropped and as per crankboy’s post the allegations were found to be untrue. Seems thst you’re doing some evidence ignoring of your own.

And yes, a professional not challenging another professional about a perceived issue but going to the police is to me cowardly.

Convert, I was using rhetoric. You lot were being drama queens so I thought I’d join in.
