    …pentlands, brilliant ride…

Are we thinking the same Pentlands here? The ones that are normally a wet, exposed, boggy, windy, uninspiring mess over winter? Nah, I think you went riding in another Pentland hills :(

Bah! I’ve been twice with freeride spain now, and both times the legendary coastal ride was mentioned but never attempted. Probably because I wasn’t considered fit enough to cope… Anyway, good hols :-)

Nah, GW’s pic is something like 25m x 5m. 10m is the depth of a new house, roughly.

The Gypsy Glen descent is awesome :-) Only ever done it when its been bone dry or frozen solid and so fast!

Just hope they are ‘fit and forget’ because you can’t get spares, so e.g. if the caliper starts leaking (common problem from experience/hearsay) then you’re stuffed.

One of the things I found with submitting photos (regardless of quality etc) was that usually they have a theme in mind, or develop a theme, which is a mystery and if your submitted photos don’t tie in with it then they’re unlikely to make it in the mag.

I don’t know what’s in this month’s, but my recent decent photos are all snowy ones and they don’t usually fit in to the whole dreamy endless singletrack and/or supremely lush, technical trails shots the bike mags like to publish.

(I should caveat all that with: I haven’t tried submitting for years now; and my ‘decent’ shots may still not be ‘publishable’. :) )

My lbs won’t build wheels with black spokes for the same reason. I’ve had a set with black ones for almost 4 years and never broken a spoke. They’re looking a wee bit tatty, but that’s just being tarty!

Can I post a pic of you for the delectation of the STW chicks?

From previous threads, I think he’s quite capable of whoring himself putting his own pics up

    You forgot “wears specs”…..:-)

Well all of my photos meets that criteria ;-)

High Roller Super Tacky on the Front and High Roller in MAxPro on the rear should sort that out.

**** me, you think?! I had that combo (2.35″) and the front tyre was draggy as hell, but then it was the steel bead downhill version…

Non tacky Kenda’s in 2.1″ flavour are actually not too bad I reckon, or combo of tacky at the front/non tacky rear. If I recall though, the Dawg comes with the 2.35″ Kendas? I had them in tacky flavour front and rear on my own bike and while brilliantly grippy, were horrendous on the road and flats.

I found the same when I demo’d one last year. I put it down to the Kenda tyres on it…

Ah yes, on a Friday maybe the facilities aren’t open… Still, it’ll be warmer and drier overhead than anywhere else :)

Drumlanrig is rarely particularly muddy. I was there on Saturday and was no wetter/muddier than anywhere else at this time of year.

Has the benefits of: bike shop, bike wash, showers, (not that good) cafe, sheltered trails.

Had mine 2.5yrs and have had no issues at all, other than plenty of scratches and scuffed decals, but then they’ve only been ridding on a full-sus. My 717 rims, by comparison have only been on a hardtail and have many many dings in them since I’m not exactly a smooth rider!

The Romana pizza bases are ace – you get a bigger pizza, with a thin base and you can have any of the regular pizza toppings on one (for a little extra cash) if you don’t fancy the 4 or 5 set options.

I think I flew to Spain with them a couple of years ago – I believe there was a single item limit of 20kg, regardless, as well as the £15 each way fee. I certainly struggled to keep my Reign in its bag to under 20kg (worked out about 21-22kg, but no extra charge). Maybe they’ve changed it now though.

If you look at the UCI top twenty best MTB’ers I bet 99.999999% of them do the majority of their training on road bikes.

Well there’s a difference between training and doing it for the enjoyment. I got my road bike for the former, and developed no affection for the latter.

cheers kit the frame is £435 on there so a little more than i wnated to,can afford to pay.

I emailed Richard having previously bought a bike from him, and I got a ‘nearly new’ frame, headset and seatpost for £250, although that was 1.5yrs ago… Worth dropping him an email though; he might be able to sort you out with something.

I would highly recommend that you contact Richard through Gravity Sports in Buckie[/url], and i know a number of other forum members here would also highly recommend the guy.

Don’t Whyte do a 120mm bike too? All I can see is there E-120 which is carbon and way out of juan’s budget.

My pads have always been the ‘real deal’, hence the reluctance to shell out £35 for two new pairs :-(

I would echo a lot of the above for staying positive, setting goals (not just work/income related). re-evaluating your situation etc etc. All good stuff.

Personally, I don’t think staying friends with an ex is a good thing. I guess it depends on who you are, but by maintaining contact with them you can slow down the process of moving on, and you may find yourself getting hurt more often as you are reminded of the good times, or if she starts another relationship. I think a clean break is better and just move on. There’s nothing to stop you from getting in touch in a year or more when the dust has settled. It might be tempting to still hang out with her, after all there’s a mutual moral support and company, but you may end up just doing it in the hope that you’ll get back together… But that’s just my experience; only you know what you’re comfortable with.

Max, what bike you riding? I thought you were on a downhill bike the speed that you’re going, but then you mentioned other trails on the ‘Bash route so figured you must just be a very good rider ( :( and :) together)

Maybe I’m being a bit thick here, but I don’t get what you’re trying to acheive…

If you have a wireless router connected to Virgin, via a cable modem, then all you should have to do is connect the 360’s with the supplied ethernet cables to the router, and then connect the laptops wirelessly to the same router. Assuming the router is good enough to sort out all those connections, I don’t see why you need to be faffing about trying to connect through the laptops… Maybe I’m missing something!

However you internet connection is a bit slow (bandwidth) and may make online gaming painful

Depends whether both sons are trying to get online at the same time. My Virgin connection is 2MB (same as OP) and have never had any lag issues when playing on xbox live, but if you have another user downloading/using the net on a seperate device then that might give you some problems.

Aye, keep it simple. You don’t want to intimidate her! You’ll both still enjoy it because you’ve got each other’s company, and assuming things work out well there’s plenty of time later to be doing more techy stuff :)
