So today I went to use ViewRanger for the first time in months and it wasn’t working grr. I loved ViewRanger and had a lot of money invested in it.

Anyway I’ve downloaded trail boss, free, downloadable (unfortunately OS maps not available) and I’ve got to say it’s really good, better for our uses than ViewRanger, plotting a route is easy, downloading map tiles is really easy. I haven’t tried the route guidance yet, but this Canadian app is looking really impressive so far.

Ps just wanted to add, I don’t think I agree with Eddiebabys outlook though, I believe we are just starting to see the beginning of more women participating in the sport, you see way more on the trails than you used too. Only when it’s a truly equal sport will it really start to flourish.

I totally agree with Eddiebaby about equal content for cover shots and everything else. If you present mountain biking as an equal sport, women looking at it through the media will start to believe it is, and hence will attract those who would normally shy away from the testosterone filled pot that it currently is. St are very good at equal share, but generally the media is all videos of men shredding it. My daughter has started to believe it’s a men’s sport for this reason (we watch video of the day before her bedtime if it’s suitable)

My online viewing is pretty much Singletrack or Pinkbike
Life’s too short to bother with looking at stuff you don’t like.

Some good points of view there Hannah! Does this extend to the Body geometry components too as I though that was what the only differences between some of the bikes was?

I bought my son an Orbea MX26 team, it’s a really nice frame, the spec is nothing special but it’s a nice bike, weighs about 27lbs, the wheels are a bit heavy. IMO it was better than the equivalent Spesh trek giant Scott for the money.

So one riders got a magic motor, and the others were too doped up to notice, who cares? They are all cheating roadies

I think that there should be camera riders, which can capture footage like the motorbikes do for road races!

I think as a nation we have more nutters that are good at going downhill fast than calculated über fitness freaks. I like the DH nutters, but it’s a shame XC is so shunned by the youth. It’s all about the uplift these days!
