Fair (basic) point but there’s always the potential it could be useful, inspirational or funny. The STW forum is now mostly just a load of middle aged higher earners moaning about first world problems. I genuinely feel unwelcome these days.

Mate some people work seriously hard and don’t have a pot to p*ss in. Either do something destructive or go down the legal route, there isn’t a relationship worth saving either way. Sorry but I’m a bit tired of the middle-class problems on this forum. If it’s not your drive it’s Mattoutandabout moaning about his partner’s parents wasting his inheritance on a cr*p van or a floody house.

With Ashhh. If you’ve got £9k to chuck at a tidy place to put a car then I’d say life is already pretty sweet.

I did wonder that with the distinct possibility of Trump being in charge of the US again and Putin guaranteed another term that the markets would be nervous. Given that mortgage rates are linked to swap rates any cuts in the base rate might not guarantee cheaper mortgage deals. Will see what I can lock in now based on the assumption I’ll go elsewhere is rates do drop the summer.

How are folks getting on? We’ve just been sent a reminder that we can lock in a new deal ahead of moving onto the variable rate sometime in August. Difficult to know at present what rates will do.

For similar money you could buy two of these and have dedicated espresso and brew grinders – https://clumsygoat.co.uk/products/eureka-mignon-crono-home-coffee-grinder-50mm

    Made in Italy…

I’d have asked to tag along if I wasn’t doing jury service next week.

If you’re open to Apple a used MacBook Air (2017) is within budget. Get one with as much memory as you can afford. Just make sure it has a low battery cycle count. My previous one lasted 6/7 years of abuse before I chose to upgrade to a bigger screen.

Not sure GP’s are supposed to prescribe controlled drugs to friends/relatives. However your GP is probably doing a good job and giving you the help you need.

I can’t help but think their boom is related to the peoples increasing size. They’re very forgiving.

Nailed it. The ‘look’ is just layering with diff colours and textures – don’t forget a pointless hat. I prefer to mix lighter technical clothing with cheap vintage jeans these days. Best of both worlds.

Not much cheaper than the American brands they’re ripping off. A bit like Passenger/Patagonia.

I received a confirmation email when I gave them 30 days notice earlier this month:

We’re sorry to hear you’re leaving us on Fri  9 Feb. As a last hurrah, we want to make sure your disconnection is as smooth as possible. You’ll find everything you need to know over on our help page, including: etc

A few years old now but explains why DWR’s might not be as effective as they were previously. Eco credentials are the priority these days.

Send it back to them at their cost and get Royal Mail to collect. If there isn’t a warrantee issue they’ll likely wash and re-proof it for you as a gesture of good will. Easy peasy.

I sent a Balance (bought 2020) back to Alpkit for testing as it wetted out on the shoulders following re-proofing. It failed their testing and I was sent a newer version which was nice of them. Sent it back for credit.

He’s a numpty but I agree with his views on punditry. We’re still allowed opinions right?

I alternate between Clifton Suspension and Hard Lines House Party for the chocolate. 1kg delivered for under £30 if you’re smart.

Do one Mister-Pee. I wanted advice on the quality of the boards for the money, not whether it is the right board for me. bigsurfer came through.

johnx2 gets it! If the board doesn’t work out the kids can play with it. I just need something to get me back in the water.

Thanks folks but based in South Wales not Devon. Hoping for a quick progression as Gower beaches are only 20 mins away. I’m 62kg today : )

Thanks for the advice folks but I’m getting a fish my own height. I take it no-one has direct experience with the brand.

Homes which have been empty for 2+ years are quite rightly liable for more council tax.

Good analogy on the radio this morning. A one word review might suffice for an ice-tray/cable/keyring bought on Amazon but not for a school. On the flip side, aspiring heads don’t want to go to schools with the highest rating because of the fear of losing it.

Thanks all. Fortunately there’s no debt between us. Any modest saving go into premium bonds which return very little in our experience. I appreciate that I’m taking a short term view when the mortgage will actually have us working into our mid 60’s, assuming we don’t change careers. It’s the uncertainty of what’s to come which has made me ask the question.

Sorry mate but it’s a depressing little town. The Fry’s development is smart but those people are spending their money elsewhere. It’s certainly well located for an abundance of quality road riding.

Mate that’s sh*t. All of my family now live in Keynsham and not only have I never wanted to live in that backwards little place but I cannot fathom a bidding war for accommodation there. I always remember the Location loc loc when the lady started crying when they viewed a place in Keynsham whilst trying for Bath. What about Chippenham?

I strongly agree with the article. I’ve been chased and bitten by dogs, they’ve terrified my children on occasion and we’re constantly having to avoid their sh*t when walking, cycling etc. Working dogs fine but that’s where I draw the line.

+ for MPV. Our Scenic becomes a bit of a van when all the rear seats are removed. Good cheap rear bike rack options not requiring a tow bar. 50+ mpg on longer runs, cruisy drive. Ideal for 2+ kids. Cool in a French way (90’s).

Roger Bisby always recommends putting something fragrant in the system. Hopefully if there is a leak it will make itself apparent.
