Good Event and well organised, thanks. Nice technical course with a gnarley decent on the other side. You need to get rid of the bit where you do the climb, turn back on your self for a short steel bit then have to get off and run up that small lump. The small lump was pointless IMO. Nice climb though.

Some of the non racers looked like they were “sandbagging” with the times posted, maybe set a “benchmark” time so the guys under 14 mins a lap have to enter the “racer” cat.at the next event. Oh and start the race from the carpark at the bottom, nice long climb to string it out before the narrow section. Cheers.

xherbivorex, Thanks for marshalling as I think I know where you stood, you where right on the ridge with a nice breeze!! Brownbacks, good event and well organised but would have liked to been off at ten as stated as my nads were dropping off at the start ;-)

Makes a change from road racing, not done a mtb race for donkeys, must get a MTB this side of 1980 and have another bash.

Cheers to all the marshalls and organisers. Jason.

I am going to enter the next one (if its not full) but need to get a new frame as I snapped mine last week, so sticking to RR till I find another :-(

    Cheers

Contacted a local Trek dealer and they have been great, a replacement rear triangle is £ 140.00 and its cracked in exactly the same place Uncle Fred said, Its not too expensive but the bikes on its last legs and I have spent quite a bit on it already so not sure weather to get a replacement or try and get some catch together and buy a complete new bike.

Bit skint at moment though ;-) so looking for a cheap rear triangle thats all, as MTBing is a means of getting a very quick, hard 1.5 hrs of training in when ive had enough of the chain gang/racing etc on’t road.

Trekcol, can you do me a deal on a Top fuel 9

Im from the darkside and currently have a Madone and this is my third one

I assume all the rear triangles are the same size, and that the front triangle changes the size of the frame overall.

I bought the bike second hand it must be about 3-4 years old. Just doing my usually training loop and razzing down a technical single track with a small jump , it snapped on the chain stay just behind bottom bracket on the pivot.

Im sure Trek will tell me to bog off!!

I still think it is the most beautiful build ever shown on Grand Designs and wonderful to see that the owner is so humbled by his efforts that it still makes him emotional now thinking about what he achieved. He was a bit of a wet, but I have huge respect for what he has done there. If I didn’t already live in Yorkshire, I would certainly book a stay there myself.

Next year I am carrying my bike up and riding down

Thats a terrible statement, how very dare you indeed.

I intend to ride up it (without dabbing) and then ride down it on a Chipper, IN A DAY, next year in the bleak of winter wearing only a mankini.
(With no water and eating only half a tic tac)

Looked like a mini leisure centre. All it needed to finish it off was a few Hoodies fagging it outside.

I’ve used assos for years, started to also use the new giordana longs and shorts from last year.

A third of the price and in my opinion feel better, even on 100 + mile rides, would find it very hard now to justify buying some assos shorts.
