    uponthedowns + 1

Did my first "test" of this winters training on Monday night. 30 mins eye balls out to calculate my FTP.

Felt very ill after (but satisfied with my result and knowing that I can push myself to that level) and could hardly stand up. The last 5 mins seemed like about 3 hours

My watts are up and weight is down. :D

I have a 17 week plan, it started at the beginning of November ending with a week in Lanzagrote (not resting but nailing it on the road bike everywhere) and then road race season starts.

If you think of it ALL TOGETHER like that your head will fall off.

    Break it down into sections.

This is very general but mines broken down into section's where you will build (train) for three weeks and then have an adapt (rest) week.

Rest means still ride the bike a bit 6-8 hrs but very steady.

The build weeks get grimmer as the plan moves into section 2,3,4,5 etc.

Basically building you up steady but built into the plan "adapt" weeks to get fitter.

If you have a month of rides broken down on a large piece of paper hung up somewhere it’s an incentive to tick the rides off once you have done them and look back at it. Quite satisfying in a sadistic way.

If you realise it will be unpleasant and it will hurt and you have cracked it :D

I have been riding it for 20 years and to me its called the "Wrights Arm's decent" as San Marino restaurant was a pub called "The Wrights Arms" before hand and thats where the decent ends, roughly.

nbt, As for a folding spade, think it needs a bit more than that. :x

NWW spent a mint about 8 years ago and completely re did the path, when they finished it was so smooth you could literally fly down it without using the brakes, very scary as the waterbars where severe and if you caught one with any wheel you were a passenger heading for SHIT STREET !! :D

San Marino has badly erroded over that last few weeks. I went down it in daylight for the first time in ages on Sunday and could not beleive how fast we go down it in the dark, not knowing seeing the pit falls etc.

What you cant see cant hurt you I suppose. 8O

Halfway down where you go right then left around a big mound a stream has changed direction and now just flows down the rest of the track/path right to the bottom, its now like riding down a river for the last few hundred metres, grim. This will also make them ruts even deeper by the day. 8O 8O

The arcade game was superb with those vector graphics.

I downloaded a copy for my PC yesterday. Haven't had a chance to play it yet though. It's meant to be an exact clone of the original Atari Arcade game. That's my weekend sorted.

You got a link or somert for the game jon1973?

    Cheers

Had a Litespeed Vortex, the new one with the "diamond" style tubing, always wanted one, they look great and the effort that went into making one of these frames is extra ordinary. Waited ages to get the right one. Finally got it and it was rubbish, it flexed that much that it used to "ghost shift" all the time, under braking it was unstable also. Had it for just under a year as I "wanted" to love it, I changed everthing on it to cure the problem, spent a mint and it was the same. Its gone now but still love the look of it. My mate had the same model and cracked it near the BB. NEVER EVER AGAIN !!!

That's terrible form by afore mentioned downhiller.

On his approach to the walkers he should have been "shreding the rad" and looked for the best launch pad, ie berm, rock or natural occurring divot.

Hit this object to enable him to launch over the heads of the walkers while doing a superman seat grap, into a heel clicker and then can-can.

Do these full face helmet downhillers no nowt about trail etiquette.

The "red sock brigade" would then have a nice story to tell at their next coffee morning. :-)

I was a scout as a lad and we HAD to volunteer to hand sponges out at the local running marathon event.

When Jimmy Saville approached we all bombarded him with sponges, lobbing loads at him, very funny scenes as we collapsed laughing. He did lot find it funny for some reason and called us a bunch of f*****ing little C**ts !!

Anyway we had to jump in our shagged out Scoutmobile van and move up the circuit 10 miles.

He did not recognise us as we passed up the sponge to him (that we all had pissed on) and proceeded to squeeze it over his head, he instantly turned round and then recognised the laughter, my claim to fame. :D

Fantastic article, we have loads of "old lags" in our club that are around that age, their fierce competative edge is still with them when they are in sight of the "boundary sign" 8O

That article will keep me going when im having a grim day at work and realise their is more to life than the 9-5 rat race im in.

Stops loads of shite/spray getting in your eyes and v warm even when wet, i was not convinced but they are very functional. Also good to wear when on the MTB when your burning past all the body armoured up weekend warriors on the hardest downhill section :D

hi kingfisher was there a lot of water running down the rollercoaster ? that could be very destructive

Loads at the bottom, past the bottom of the folks, couldn't see the damage as it was literally a river.

The top section of the paths on the roller coater where getting nicely rutted which made it intresting ath high speed.

The bottom of the "roller coaster" was a river, quite deep as well, maybe 30 cm !!

Found the slab this time and rode it, thats not washed away. :?

Could do with a new wooden bridge over the river just after the "roller coaster" it washed away this morning with all the rain, tried several times to wade across the river but it was above my waist and was very fast white water, impossible to cross without a rope !!

Love the work you lot are doing, some great sections but mother natural has done loads of damage today.

My last post on this thread. As previosly said I have had a Mk1 Leon FR turbo diesel and did nearly 90K in 3 years from new, no problems, mega car, quick and handle well with excellent mpg.

Now Leon Cupra petrol MK2, fast as… and handles mega, done nearly 50 K in it in two years, no problems.

Both company cars so have had a mega thrashing. 8)

I got one 57 plate from new, done nearly 50 K in it, not let me down yet, handles and rides MINT.

Had the Mk1 as well for 3 years from new, did 89K in it and again never let me down.

I like the Seat brand now alot. :D
