Early adopter here. Been using 1X11 for four years now. Using a Shimano 105 compact chain set with a 110 bcd Hope narrow wide front ring. 40 tooth. 25-12 rear cassette.

Not a large gap in gears and you can get over nearly everything hill wise over here and you have to be a beast to spin out 40×12 for any length of time.

ps. Normal medium cage shimano 105 rear mech.

I live in Horwich, probably the best place for MTB and road bikes. I can ride 500 meters and be off road for hours. Always loads of MTBers when Im out, never ride with many as they all pull their faces as I like to press on a bit.

Lived in a few place in Bolton and been MTBing for 29 years so I know the score.

Condenser dryer it is then, the extra expensive for this type of dryer out weights the cost of drilling a hole in the wall etc. Cheers

It’s an extension to the house that looks like a garage but will be plastered, tiled and furnished. Brick and block walls all passed by building inspector.

It was Vanmarcke that had to be told to take his turn, GvA rolled through and did his bit.

This, GVA did some V strong turns. PS used this almost as a training ride to see where he is. Yes he did a lot of work and decimated the group but I dont think he was bothered about getting second.

The peleton needs to be worried as he was a lot stronger than anyone else.

Its an internally routed cable, when you make the cable slack the STI still feels stiff and sluggish.

Had a few days off but only got 60K to do tomorrow so my 120K ride will finish it off, first couple of days were very chilly.

Quite enjoyed doing it but missed the MTB’ing, hope it freezes rock hard in the New Year for mud free MTB fun.

Rapha is top quality gear (the odd garment is 5h1te) but would still like to get a discount on a £ 220 jacket. You can wear the kit for two or more seasons, it still looks in great condition and you can then sell it on ebay for 70% of the original cost, a no brainer really.

edit, their will be a bit of on road stuff but it OK and you can always see the sea.

    kingkongsfinger

All you need to do is follow the coast with the sea to your right, there is a path near enough all the way to El Medano, you will go through a golf course etc and may have to do a bit of fanning around to keep linking paths but its alright. You can get a Gua Gua (bus) back home if you want or ride back.

Everyone is talking about the age of the rear Deore mech or the XTR chainset from the 90’s etc. etc. that they are still using. Its irrelevant if you only ride the bike 2 hrs a week in dry conditions, it will last for ages.

M900 XTR was mega at the time but the new stuff is light years ahead in functionality, build quality is subjective as manufacturing processes have improved dramatically over the years however the latest XTR and Durarace Di2 is jewel like and works flawlessly (I have both). The old XT and XTR “V” brakes would rattle their balls off after about 8 hrs of riding and the XTR pedals from the last series used to fall to bits and the light road wheels would snap spokes regular and they are under so much tension the wheel would be like a pringle.

I have two MTB bikes, one for training and one for racing. I do about 10-12 Hrs a week and I go through XT + XTR stuff after about two years with zero mechanical sympathy in all conditions so I am more than happy with that.

PS. Shimano fit it and forget it.
