TrC with a Rev set at 140mm seems sweet to me

    What size are you wanting?

After years on various Yetis, I love my TrC – best thing is that it feels almost like 2 bikes as light and fast enough for local flat singletrack xc type riding, but still feels super capable with saddle down when doing more adventurous riding.
Yupm the carbon one is super expensive but then it’s the best bike I’ve had! I picked up one of the lower link protectors from mtbr as some kind of downtube protection.
Have gone upto 140mm forks after starting on 130mm, and run 1×10 with a 50mm Renthal stem – it’s faster than me for sure 🙂

From all accounts, Flanders is dead smooth compared to some sections – 25mm tubs for me with a little sealant inside too. I don’t think I’d fit 27mm in my frame but wish I could, my other pals will all be on 24mm Pave clinchers.
    Cannot wait!!

From my experience, the Asr5 comes alive if you push it really hard – check out some of the Yeti vids with their dh riders on them with 140mm forks. It’s only warrantied for upto 140mm but PinkBike did say that when they put 150mm on theirs – I found it a little wandery (sp?) on climbs with 140mm forks whereas the sweet spot seemed to be 130mm, like the guys at Yeti HQ were running.
However it is still essentially a lightweight xc bike that can be pushed harder if you want to – whereas the TrC IMHO is designed with harder riding in mind.

I’ve had plenty of experience of both to be honest – the reviews suggested that I would notice pedal clearance on the TrC but have really not noticed it to be an issue. With TrC forks at 130mm then I clipped pedals the odd time but never enough of an issue, and never have once put the fork up to 140mm.
Equally on Asr5, you will clip your pedals the odd time when running a 120mm fork but the bike comes alive with a slightly longer fork in my opinion – Yeti in the US used to run a 130mm Float which was a great compromise.
Both are amazing bikes, warranty period differs as does the price and guess you don’t see TrCs 2nd hand very often. However as v10 rightly says, these bikes rail corners so well that i wouldn’t mind the odd pedal strike if it meant I had the cornering that the lower BB gives.
    Hope that helps, Stu

From chatting to pals about recent orders, Aspire parcels are no longer marked cheaper to get round customs charges – with duty, their pricing isn’t much cheaper on many parts

From what you are after, I would heartily recommend a Blur TrC – amazingly fun and able bike that can be super light. Obviously it is super expensive, although a few ’12 frames in the sales – however it can feel like a longer travel bike when the going gets rough, whilst being rocket fast when you need it – the best of both from my experience

Have done it a few times now and stayed in Oudenaarde, it’s a great event and so well organized. We figured Oudenaarde would be loads busier with it now being the finish but we still got hotels easy enough in town, atmosphere was great too.

Yup, the black and gold 14x frame, pic hopefully below.
Frame weight is ok for an aggressive alloy frame, but does ride lighter than it feels

I’ve got one, a 17″ – am 5’9″ and is built up with a 140mm Fox fork, Reverb and 50mm stem – rides super well, very stable climber for a 140mm bike and great fun downhill too.
    Love mine!

I still prefer the feel of tubs and most wheels are lighter in tub variant?
Biggest benefit for me is that you puncture a lot less than with clinchers. Also if you do puncture, it normally goes down slower rather than suddenly.
Tubs can be a faff but worth it once you get used to them 🙂

The folks at Plush Hill in Church Stretton have a demo sb66 I think

I reckon the TrC would fit the bill real well with a lighter build, as well as being able to easily change into a more aggressive build if needed.

I originally was going to get an XC and run a 120mm fork, but then decided on a TrC.
Yes, expensive but an awesome bike – can be built up pretty light but, with a change of tyres and a Reverb is very capable for more adventurous riding too.
    Well recommended!

Strangely I had this on my Dad’s Ti Litespeed and was caused by the Ritchey stem as it’s bottom edge wasn’t perfectly flat – tried everything else including facing but found a different stem solved it

Fork currently set at 130mm fork but may put it back at 140mm for summer riding in places further away….

Having been the Yeti rep for the UK for the last few years, I have to say I am loving my TrC after my change in jobs – so light but feels so stiff too.
Interestingly after years on Yetis, all the reviews said to be mindful of the low BB on the TrC but I am yet to clip my pedals once. I was used to the low BB of my Asr5A/C so was expecting it on the TrC but have not yet found it to be the case, wierd.
It certainly ticks all the boxes that I am looking for in a bike to be honest – yes, it’s expensive but it’s also an amazing ride

Try this first, normally works for me (from Mojo site)

The lockout on my fork does not work, what do I do? (Open bath forks only)

    A. It may be that the cartridge needs bleeding. For instance, if the bike has been stored upside down or the fork has not been used for a while.Try this proceedure below before sending your fork to us.

With the lockout off, turn the rebound to full slow (fully closed)
Push the fork up and down slowly 2 or 3 times.
Now bring the rebound adjuster back 3 clicks and push the fork up and down another 2 or 3 times.
Now try your lockout, it should be working fine.

PLEASE NOTE: If you have RLC or RLT versions, make sure your threshold adjuster (located at the bottom of the fork leg) has been turned to the firmest setting.

I had the same thoughts on the Tallboy but the alloy one is around 1.5lb heavier so builds started at around 27lb – seemed a bit chunky.
Also I know I REALLY wanted the carbon so rather than compromise, just saved a bit harder and bought what I wanted….

Evening, apart from the all black colour the only difference is 2012 takes an Inset headset rather than external cups, still tapered tho 🙂
