+1 for the melin malt, good customer service too. Great help if your new. You say your 5’9 so I think you got the frame size right but ideally you will want to check inside leg to get the stanover right.

Isn’t eBay offering free listing today? If so start the item at the price you want for it. Insertion fee is based on starting price, so you won’t get stung.

How does the chick in the orange top brake her cruiser? Has it got one of them stop peddling hit the peddle backwards to brake things?

I just realised it’s a different bike/bird combo in the photo below it??

Psychle, applying that logic the ferry could sink, the foot tunnels could collapse… Best stay at home.

I can see the local authority should have made provisions, but didn’t you say they have been planning the work for years? Plenty of time to stock the piggy bank up for the ferry man or get fit for a whopping 8 road miles. My old man used to cycle 17 miles to work and back everyday, he was a manual worker and managed that at 65 I think 8 road miles ain’t going to kill you. Just get on with it.

Yeah, the power supply is external so they don’t overheat as often and don’t need the cooling fans so they ate quiet, plus the lasers are better. Ones with a model number of SCPH70002, 70003 and 70004 were early ones and sone suffered a faulty power lead, any other model number is known to be reliable.

Chances are though that your faulty game may be beyond hope.

No worries mate, the black and purple discs are typically very early and more durable. The silver ones more recent and typically dual layer and more fragile. I would never use brasso on a disc, use a disc cleaning fluid or a dab water. Apply it to a clean cloth and start at the centre of the disc going outward, people often rub the discs in a circular motion this can cause more scratches. There are about 7 versions of ps2 laser in the PAL models, identified by the serial and chasis number.

If you’ve got a slim ps2 then the lasers are upgraded from the original ones. The older shape ps2’s often suffered laser problems of they were stood up vertically. Sony never admitted this officialy, but they upgraded the laser and spring arm in the slimline. Ps2’s are ten a penny as are the games u can get a mint one cheap, my advice is to settle only for a good one.

I used to work in a games shop. When ps2 games 1st came out they were on single layer disc, then double layer came along. Essentially the disc Reading surface was given two layers enabling twice as much information to be stored. These discs have a more deicate surface and won’t read if any scratches are present, most notoriously gta San andreas. I would ditch any scratched discs they will shorten the life if the laser in the long term.

I brought a canon digital slr as I was upgrading from film, so all my lenses fitted, so I kind of became brand loyal to save money. If I was starting out I’d buy the nikon as I think the build quality is better, not that canons is bad. The nikon feels less like a toy to hold.

I’m glad someone mentioned Darcy Turenne, I’m
luck enough to have done artwork for her and can say she is the coolest person. She’s always smiling and is funnyo be around. If I was a bit taller…

Crotchrocket that made me laugh no end, I expect he just made it up. I’m off to test my ride as the front end barrel roll keeps locking down when the tyres have too much play it’s just soaking it up in the stem rebuff, mate.

Hey grum I used to work mostly in graphics before becoming a portrait artist full time. What version of PS have you got and what do you mostly design?

No lectures here, ‘mac time’ costs a fortune, of your employer is using you and not a designer then maybe you want to ask about a rise? Ha ha

+1 on the spoon, I’ve had the standard and ti models. Can’t fault them, great value. My mates was damaged in an accident, he rang charge about new rails, they sent him a whole new saddle for free. The limited edition colours from Evans can compliment your lapierre too!!!

I just built a site using mr.site to sell my artwork on. My old site cost me £500 to be built and the designer wanted loads of money to update it. I got a package for £49 down from £99 (hsbc offer) that includes domain names for a year. I’m reall pleased with the customer service I got and how easy it all was. You sound like you know what your going on about, so maybe don’t need this package but they have gone beyond what I would expect from customer service.

I switched to schrader as I prefer slime inner tubes and the presta ones always seem to clog up around the valve. I would use as Rivh said a team or circular file. Some rims have a guide around the hole of how much you need to file away.

I got the free app for iPhone and had a good afternoon finding caches with some mates. It’s slighly geeky I will agree, but it was fun. If I gets kids or anyone outside in the fresh air it’s all good in my eyes. Don’t know if I’d plan a trip specifically to go geocaching but it can be guilty fun on your cycle snack breaks to see if there’s s cache nearby.

Thanks, it’s part of the Hilton group, It was good value when I joined. Both myself and other gym members have complained to the managment about staff, we’ve had vouchers for a free meal as compensation. I didn’t understand the difference between fixed contract and that which can be altered. I do now so thankyou to everyone for thier input.

Thanks, you need an electric key to get in so I think they will just cancel it. I’m not paying the £30, it’s like a fine because I no longer think they are good value. The reception staff have become so rude. For thier monthly charges I could now get my dream bike on 0% apr, and have a few quid left over. Thanks again.

My cousin got what he thought was a bargain GT avalance for £50 cost another £10 in fuel to pick it up. Turned out to be knackerd. Everything was damaged on it. One afternoon and a pot of tea later we had it stripped to parts and listed as spares or repair. The frame alone sold for £40 and the damaged forks for £25.

I used to work for a major games retailer when I was a student, I used to sell all the freebies, posters, standees we got sent. I was making a tidy profit till head office got wind of it and they clamped down on it. One month I made £500 for a few hours on eBay.

Best bargain a sega megadrive with games, it was listed as a seag system. Cost me £3 plus post, I played it solid for a few days to relive my childhood and then sold it on for £30

Worse sale was my Marin Hawk Hill 2003 as I wish I would have kept it, it was s sublime ride.

Coming down garden lane from the city centre the bike shop was past the river queen on the same side of the road. The guy used to wear a blue boiler suit and small round glasses, he was often standing in the doorway with a spanner in his hand, i bet the premises hadn’t changed in years. Just like that chippy if you follow garden lane down past telfords towards sealand road.

I agree with molgrips on the eBay thing, it’s harder to trace a stolen bike if it’s stripped and sold through various eBay accounts. The fact a bike had no wheels would just make portability an issue for a thief. As for the bike thiefs stories part of me was intrigued part of me wanted to wring his neck… Almax chain would do the job. ( yes that’s a joke I know he’s reformed etc… ) chains still need a lock, a chains only as good as the padlock

Holyhutzpa?? I’d say standover is really important, as are all measurements, once your on the bike it has to fit. The physical size of you and the bike isn’t s mental concept. It’s like saying : Wearing half mast trousers is ok as once your in them the fact they don’t fit is just a mental concept.

I live next to a specialized concept store, Iam 5’7 13 stone. I just sat on a Medium and it felt about right. they didn’t have a small in stock so I tried a small in various other frames and they felt a bit weedy. I do lift a lot of weight and work out a lot so I like a sturdy frame. Given my height though I’d still plump for the medium, the standover was about right to avoid an nasty testi meets metal accidents. My inside leg Is 31” hope that helps.

Thankyou! I’m without a ride and haveoney burning a hole in my pocket. I did wonder about the welds, it’s going to be a purely trail bike and I want it to last a good 2 years.

I don’t know if the red hubs would be big enough to get the colour impact your after. It would look sweet though, the dark frame could take any colour accent you choose, bright yellow would liven it up a bit. :-)

I went over the handlebars of my bmx when I was a kid, I’ve got a small dent in my skull. If I had been wearing a helmet I would have been ok. I had to give up boxing and martial arts in my teens on my doctors advice, even with a head gaurd the risk to that area is too high. I would never ride a bike without a helmet again and regret the day that I did. It doesn’t matter to me what % of accidents are avoided or the % of damage a helmet saves, it’s about looking after yourself. Even if you just got a slight graze on your head surley it’s better to graze a helmet??

Often the people who ride without helmets talk of ‘more enjoyment’ and act like some kind of hero. When/if you fall you won’t ride bareback again trust me.

Incidently I helped on a rehab program as a voulenteer. A reformed bike thief got chatting to me when he knew I was into mountain biking. He said he recons he could and has got through any chain/lock and has done. If the chains too thick and will take time to cut through you attack the lock or whatever the bikes anchored too.

Thieves couldn’t break my d lock so they trashed my bike instead. I now have a ratty £25 unbranded mtb I got from a charity shop that I lock up in town. I lock it with a £1 lock from poundland and no ones touched it, ha ha. I no longer have a window in my garage and have 3 locks on any decent ride, but I know if someone wants it they will find a way, sad state of the world

Marin Hawk Hill 2003, I didn’t know how much I loved mine till I sold her. It just had perfect geometry for my size and shape. I keep browsing eBay for a mint one, soon as the garage space permits I’m going to get another.

+1 on the carerra fury, my Dad got one I borrowed it and loved it. I think if you destickered it and a similar priced specialized, then let people ride them the carerra would win hands down. People ARE put off by brand and image or there would be more about.

I’ve tried a few 5’s and really enjoyed riding them, I’d buy one if u could justify the cost.

I’ve never ridden a specialized I’ve liked from £300 basic harstails to range toppers. They always seem like they have been made in a hurry and lack quality.

I know a great secret trail near my parents in Staffordshire, it’s only about half a mile but flows perfectly both directions, Its got natural jumps and a decent view. Will swop it’s location for something similar…

I own some apartments overlooking the canal behind the edge, near harkers. So I often pop into the edge, it’s always well stocked and they seem to be able to get test rides really easily organised.

I don’t like the specialized shop at all, it’s too clinical. The staff member I spoke to abbriviated everything rockhoppers were RH’s hard rock’s HR’s and then he had his eppie and sworks. I don’t think he had ever actually ridden a bike.

Looked at 69 bikes yesterday, the staff are great but the range of bikes seemed limited. I understand he’s still building stock up and phasing out the 2010 ranges. His laptop hooked upto a big tv seemed nifty for showing you photos on… And his dad?? Had a really cool vintage jaguar.

Anyone remember the bike shop on garden lane, he only sold old old bikes he’d repaired and had great cycling stories. He was a man you would love to share a pint with.
