Had MX5’s and currently have an MR2. I can’t see us changing to Toyota for a while, its massive fun to drive an gets used all year. MX5’s are great fun but I personally feel like the Toyota is better built, even more fun to drive and more solid. It took a while to find a good one and the facelift 03 onwards are quite expensive but we found an enthusiast owned 52 that had been well looked after. It would put a massive smile on your face. Celica was mentioned above too, I have one of those too, a hugely underrated car, but not quite as exotic feeling as the MR2/MX5. For what I do for work I need a long boot space but height isn’t as important, I do few miles a d it fitted the bill. Servicing is a little more expensive with an MR2 over an MX5 as the engine can be harder to access. I love mine and it doesn’t have a midlife crisis my other cars a VAG/MPV image :p
In terms of running costs both MX5 and MR2 have needed little work, both been very reliable. We had a 2.5 & 3.0 MX5 found the 2.5 to clog up round the sills and condition to be everything on ones of that vintage, get off eBay a hard top to preserve the hood as the 2.5 era ones seem to collect water and rot at the back. An MX5 specialist on the Wirral was really helpful and had good stock.

For the judge, I saw a horror with a wrestler in it, think his stage name is Kane. Physically he was just how I pictured the judge but he can’t act which will be a problem. And he is/was a wrestler which it would be hard to see past. But appearance is how I thought the judge would look.
King-ocelotFree Memberdont go near anyone with a 5 then ….. the jelousy will be huge … its almost instant in every respect
Ha ha maybe, when my 3GS dies/lost I will prob replace it with a 4s if they aren’t too expensive.
King-ocelotFree MemberAs mentioned above why do subways stink so ghastly? It’s surely just baked bread and bakery’s normally smell lovely. I went into a subway with a friend while he scoffed a meatball footlong that smell was on my coat for days. We need one of those pull along van things like in that London that sells hog roast and beef and potatoes.
King-ocelotFree MemberDon’t buy a Beko, my old landlord replaced our broken fridge with one, then it broke and was replaced 3 more times under warranty in 9 months. I moved and I expect the fridge saga is still going on. Load of crap. I think they’re a budget brand and certainly don’t like keeping food frozen or chilled.

I can afford to pay circa 200 – it’d need to be 0% at over 300 though!
POSTED 1 HOUR AGO #If your budget will ‘only’ stretch to Sektors then so be it, they are far from awful just not as good as more expensive forks but by comparison you do feel like your getting what you pay for and a little bit more. They are plenty capable and with an upgraded spring tons better. If I had more budget i would buy something else but I don’t so these are more than fine.
King-ocelotFree MemberI have coil Sektor RL’s wasn’t too keen at first, fitted the stiffer spring, love them now. Very well made for the price. Not as plush as other forks but far nicer than anything else at this price point I have seen/used.
King-ocelotFree MemberThe BLT was nice, till I discovered how much salt they put in them.

4 nowKing-ocelotFree MemberOk my 3GS next to her 4s both opening Facebook (latest version and both with latest IOS) on same wifi connection, 3GS 6 seconds of blue Facebook screen then 2 seconds of loading screen, Her 4s 3 seconds Facebook screen straight into news feed.
How sad are we…
King-ocelotFree MemberI’ve got a 3GS had it since just after launch and I find it fine, its been replaced 3 times by apple so can’t claim its the original handset. Mrs has a 4 (s?) and its quicker but the screen is so much clearer while the camera makes the 3GS one seem laughable. Phones are not a priority to me so I do t feel the need to upgrade as the handset does all I want it too (& more) I won’t really consider swopping it unless it breaks or stops getting supported. I pay a sim only deal.
£120 seems way off the mark, i have seen mint ones go on eBay for £90. Standard condition ones about £75. Cash converters (or some shop similar) had a mint boxed 3GS with 3 month warranty for £99.99
King-ocelotFree MemberAsked mate Toyota Mechanic said the rubber strips protect the joining seem underneath its held in by 2 clips
King-ocelotFree MemberI’ve seen a rack somewhere on google that sounds as described above that goes horizontal over the roof from the door opening.
Subaru dealer in Chester too.
King-ocelotFree MemberWell, the ‘moral outrage’ of the media is an inevitable by-product of exposing & attempting to stop the abuse of children by those in a position of power and trust.
I remember The Sun (I think) running a campaign maybe late 80s / early 90s featuring a skimpily clad, well endowed teenage girl who was going to be a Page 3 model, to the tune of “only a week to go till she’s legal, folks” before she featured topless on her birthday. The ‘moral outrage of the media’ is somewhat hypocritical, I fear.It was the sport, I remember it I was at school at the time and we used to get the sport from the corner shop. the girl was older than us it didn’t seem too bad as teenagers and we didn’t really understand exploitation back then (yes she was exploited FWICR her step father was promoting the charade) however I expected the target audience could have been more sinister than a bunch of us school kids.
King-ocelotFree MemberCheers Tony, I found the Toyota network to be fantastic too unlike Mazda which was another factor in replacing the MX5 with an MR2. The build quality is fantastic on both our celica and mr2, neither rattle inside despite age but plastics are cheap feeling, however that was never high up on my list of priorities.
King-ocelotFree Memberthe BRZ / GT86 is a great car imo. back to basics, entertaining and an element more practicality than the mx5……no bad thing…
This^
King-ocelotFree MemberNice to see some sensible grounded opinions appear on this thread. Tonyplym, how easy are getting bikes in? Could it take two? I won’t be fortunate enough to buy one for a couple of years, but can’t see anything else other than a BRZ/86 I would replace my celica with. Im not too fussed about rear seats as they rarely get used & have no intention of planning a family. Sounds like your enjoying it too!

I never understood why they didnt have terminals where an mp3 player could be plugged in and an album purchased and downloaded…
POSTED 13 MINUTES AGO # REPORT-POSTIt was popular in Japan for a while and trialed in some London stores around 2002 but the British public were slightly sceptical and the MP3 players not yet standardised so a variety of connections was needed. Before any long term money was invested in europe it was thought MP3 players would eventually connect to mobile networks and downloads could be made this way. Sony (who own lots if music wrights) were keen to push their Walkman phones and it never really took off. iTunes was the final nail in the coffin.
I had my own record shop and worked at HMV too for a while. What people want in a record shop is a broad range of CDs at good prices. However CDs are graded on popularity something like an xfactor release would be grade 1 then slip down grades with age. Dark side of the moon for example would be a grade 5/6 slow selling but always popular. Having grade 12 to 20 cd’s isn’t viable as the rate they sell is too slow. HMV is expensive online but it does have those shops to prop up. I can’t see it lasting viably in its current trading model. Keep a few key locations for high grade CD’s and move online while the brand has value.
King-ocelotFree MemberIf your list includes GT86 and a BMW 1-series, I’d have to say go for the 1-series. The consensus appears to be (as noted above) that the GT86 is overpriced for what it gives you,
The GT-86 is more of a lower spec/power/price 370, Cayman. It’s a GT really. If your considering it against a 1 series then the 1 series is certainly for you. I think the Toyota is great value.
King-ocelotFree MemberNo idea if its better or worse experience to drive. It has more presence..
And a much bigger price tag/power output/running costs. Surely a 370 is a better comparison?
King-ocelotFree MemberI was invited (yes really) to test drive one when the first demonstrator was in the network. I own a Celica and MR2 so Toyota must consider me a fanboii. I really liked it, comparing it against a hot hatch is way off the mark yes there may be plenty of hatches on paper quicker in a line but that rather misses the point, RWD, boxer. There will be more powerful variations coming but worldwide demand has been high enough to keep things as they are. I drove another one a few weeks ago (mate works at Toyota) and the engine was really nice with its burble and delivered power when you asked it too. It will no doubt suffer the fate of its original owners being in a mid-life crisis to becoming a chav car park warrior in a decade or so. But it’s a really nice bit if kit.
Not even seen a BRZ on the roads.
King-ocelotFree MemberI think becoming an audiophile/namist stops you enjoying music. This threads funny.
King-ocelotFree MemberMy ex’s mum did. She constantly droned on in an American accent management speak and said ‘pacific’ not ‘specific’ we went for a family pic-nic and amongst other things we were a unit, team, players in a game and all that. I told her to be quiet and reminded her she was from Warrington and thought Dorset was abroad. My girlfriend was my ex a few days after that.

(Built for mrs but its my toy bike really)King-ocelotFree MemberGenerally nothing is wasted, peelings off veg etc go into soup and get frozen if not used right away. I grew up quite poor and hate food waste. A friend and his family seem to chuck loads out, he was cooking sausages, cooked the whole packet and they only ate half of them, rest was destined for the bin till I had them. It is annoying to think of what’s wasted.
King-ocelotFree MemberI feel for the staff.
I stopped using them when my ex wanted a camera and lens outfit they had on offer. They had 2 branches in Chester back then, with the body in one store and lens in the other, they wouldn’t honour the offer and let her walk to the other store to collect the lens, the manager insisted that it needed to be posted 3-4days unless we paid for overnight between branches. Odd way to do business.
King-ocelotFree MemberI started doing this when I was unemployed. On a small scale for a neighbour. Word got round and I got 5 people sending me photos. It was a good cottage industry, boring and time consuming it helped me out of a potential financial jam. If you could ‘stack’ the photos in a scanner and do batches and have an automated ‘instant fix’ it would be a good service. 90% of the 1000 I scanned were fine for the clients with just a photoshop instant fix. There is a market out there.
King-ocelotFree MemberChester,
Nice walk around the walls, stop for a nice meal at a ‘brunning & price’ pub, some b&b’s to stay in, and shops for the lady.King-ocelotFree MemberI prefer Panasonic, both me and a friend bought 42″ LED’s about 9 months ago within a week of each other similar price range. The Panasonic I bought has a much better picture than his Samsung. Settings fiddled with according to forums etc… He agreed the Panasonic was a better picture and the case seemed better made.
That graph seems to sit you very close to the TV unless I’m reading it wrong
King-ocelotFree MemberW reg MG
Someone gave me an MG as my first car. I know I’m not an ungrateful person and I know I was robbed.
King-ocelotFree MemberHave you seen the yellow in the flesh? It looks really really cheap, and by most accounts flakes off very quickly.
King-ocelotFree MemberI used to ride my old style one pretty hard, I looked cosmetically battered when I sold it but was still in one piece. Took it off loads of drop offs and commuted on it too so it got plenty of use albeit some of it very light. Had a few big offs on it, the frame was always ok, including one big fall down some concrete steps were I fractured my ankle.
King-ocelotFree Member13, I’m a nice guy underneath it all.
Rather than give you a kicking, I will ask you if you would like to take it outside, then give you a kicking.King-ocelotFree MemberI would if my budget was bigger have picked a lyrik but more than happy with my Sektor now its set up nicely.
King-ocelotFree MemberSomeone went into my rear bumper when my car was parked, of course they drove off. It was £300ish to get fixed (smashed fog too) but I’ve kept my eye out on eBay and have a new bumper coming for £40 it will also cost a crate or beer for my mate to fit it. It was just a case of waiting for the right colour to come up. Most parts are listed under ‘locking wheel nut’ were you find the whole vehicle being broken. Eg: locking wheel nut Mondeo mk4
King-ocelotFree MemberI have a Sektor, factor in the cost of the stiffer spring when considering it, the standard one is far too soft. Happy with it now its been swopped over but was disappointed at first.
King-ocelotFree MemberI’d prefer the Subaru but if I’d spent money on the Golf I’d get some use out of it at least. There will always be cars to buy & you can change it at a later date if you feel that’s the right way to go.
The Subaru will eat fuel but it will be like night and day. VAG, like Toyota produces products that moves people. Subaru produces cars.
?? Don’t really get what is being said here? Are you saying VAG’s and Toyotas are dull by comparison?
King-ocelotFree MemberSimilar situation in my old shed. I got some LED lights from poundland the type you push on and off. Attached to roof they gave a decent enough downlight but I used a torch too if working on bike. in 12 months they didn’t need the batteries replacing.
King-ocelotFree Memberhttp://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/setting-up-your-own-business
Been running for 18 months now. Good advice in this thread I started.
I started simple, informed the tax office. Already knowing my market I built my website on thier needs and made it appealing to the focus group I invited to ‘snag’ it. I am a sole trader and didn’t go the LTD route. Good luck and have a go. Since I am selling my trade in as much as a product I didn’t need a massive loan or anything to start up. I started with basic equipment that was up to the job and upgrade/replace only when i need to. EG, could have bought a better digital camera but an EOS 350d met my needs so I got that for £150 rather than spend £500.
Keep it simple
Keep it neat
Forecast and think about things
If enough people tell you an idea won’t work don’t get wrapped up in a dream hoping it will. Were are you based that you couldn’t find puppy products? As a puppy owner myself the local market & pets at home seem to have it covered. There is a pet wholesale who has opened up by me and he said he was struggling against the bigger retailers despite being cheaper.
King-ocelotFree MemberI’ve often wanted to put some of my own art on kickstart. I think I will next week and see how it goes.
