The low trail is the other thing which appeals, good for a bit of front load.

Not seeing pix wildhunter, tempted by the ‘winter bracken myself

Go on then what colour do you get?

Agreed its a niche within a niche and I can’t find much if anything similar. Added to that it seems very well thought out – the dyno lighting in particular, finding it very tempting indeed!

I’d usually buy frameset only and build up but the full builds look great, not sure i could do better for the money. Give me the option and I’d have slightly fewer mounts on the fork though.

Thanks all, have looked at a few of the bigger importers but the prices are high. Yandles coming in cheapest so far but still a bit high (£1500+). That’s euro oak, can only assume English oak would be more.

The 7m section is the least important and could be done in 2 or even 3 shorter sections, it’s the ridge beam, carrying no weight.

Plenty of space here to set up a big bandsaw! Access not great though, we’re at the end of a narrow track, no artics.

I did consider chestnut poles, which would be hugely cheaper but don’t have the framing skills to deal with the round sections

    Will check out the recommendations.

whats with all the architects jumping ship? market picking up where we are, varied work, good money… move practice maybe?

pizza rack could be a good option, takes low riders too, i think it has different mounting options to suit

    keen to try Thunderburts too..

    these are the switchback hills..

I use compass switchback hills on my Stoater, the tyre’s 650b x 48. I’d be reluctant to go thinner now. They tyres are lightweight, tubeless, floaty and fast.. haven’t found a down side yet to be honest.

“any one who can’t pay their rent gets my sympathy”
    S*** attitude.

    yea your right.

What you’d prefer to do hasn’t the slightest relevance.

and yet despite this, the scoundrel actually managed to go on holiday with the last months rent.

I’m amazed so many bother, it sounds like a total head ache. Guess there must be a bit of money in it. Which is fine.

At what point would Kimi take a different view? If the arrears were into 4 figures – what about £5k?

i love all these scenarios but whats wrong with the one we’ve got?

If it really was his last £800 he must be thick as pig sh1t to blow it on a holiday.

This is charming but i can assure you i know what id prefer to do with my last £800, i assume from your tone you think he’d be much less stupid to give it to the BTL landlord.

So suppose I owed you £800 for something, doesn’t matter what, but I went on holiday instead, your’e actually ok with that?

If i was your landlord and you left me £800 in arrears i’d be quick to write it off. I’d try not to get cross about how you’d spent the money, whether it was on a holiday, fags or a dog.

I’d definitely kick you out though.

am i really the only person here who has a little respect/sympathy with the chap who spends his last £800 on going on holiday rather than giving it to the landlord?

OP this isn’t personal, I’m sorry you’re out of pocket but you’ll be okay.

Where’s that line? You could charter a plane and book the Burj al Arab for 2 weeks. I doubt many could then afford their rent. But that’s ok, right?

    an unusual scenario, but yes.

i might have gone in a bit strong but the advice was well meant.

and i do also have sympathy for people who struggle for whatever reason to pay the rent, thats not trolling.

forget about the perp, he’s not the point. life is too short to worry about £800 when no matter what you do you won’t see it back.

As for the bastard who went on holiday rather than do his bit to pay the BTL mortgage, well he’ll get his comeuppance.

well I’m not exactly a power poster but i contribute in my own little way :-)

side issue but theres nothing worse than a skint landlord reliant on the rent to keep paying the buy to let mortgage. Not that I’m suggesting anyone here is in that position themselves…

its not about being allowed is it… I’m just saying i have sympathy with the chap who can either pay his rent or go on holiday… and chooses to holiday.

My advice was sound and largely the same as what everyone else has said.

I’m fortunate enough to be able to pay for the roof over my head and go on holiday, but many aren’t.

there’s no vitriol, i just think its not the end of the world when someone without much money decides to go on holiday instead of pay a months rent.

The tennant has gone, which is good. He only owes £800 which is good. Landlord is never gonna get it back so save time, more money and stress and just forget about it.

    He did ask for advice….

if you can’t afford to loose £800 i’d suggest your running a bit close to the wire.

i don’t think there’s a huge difference between can’t and won’t at this level… to be honest i have quite a lot of sympathy with those who simply won’t pay the rent… at this level. Presumably we aren’t talking about a wealthy individual here.

don’t get bogged down in the detail, life’s too short. i’d just forget it and move on.

Woody2000 how much do you need? (sounds like your brother arrived at the same point and could have saved all involved a lot of stress had he followed my advice.)

    EDIT – especially for £800
