Mike, I know, that’s why I went for one in the first place and why I would like another one, super frame. I’ll email you. Thanks again.

Elfinsafety – agreed, steel is easy enough to repair.

Well the rates I’ve looked at are cheaper than that.

    a) What do Dialled say 9about the possibility of a repair..)?
    b) recycle recycle…
incidently how did the ‘crack’ happen?

It’s steel I’m sure it can be repaired with no problems?

I wouldn’t buy use a previously cracked bike. Failed frames could cost lives. It’s done it’s job, time to hang it in the shed and move on.
If you sell it on, it may well move on again without the new owner knowing its history. And few people deserve that.

I would never sell it on without telling the prospective purchaser it’s history.

Stop messing about! leave it out for the bin men. They might get a fiver for it from the scrap

    Helpful!!

Wouldn’t cost a lot to get repaired and resprayed, not sure how much I could get for it once it’s been repaired etc.

mikewsmith – where could I obtain this from?

I was going to get it repaired/repainted but not sure it would be as strong as it once was so was going to keep it for possibly making up a second bike in the future.

MrSmith – I think the tubes have been reduced in size and some minor geometry tweaks.

toys19 – There is no way I could save an extra £70 a week. I cut out all luxury items some time ago when I got my mortgage!

I love the way the PA rode, used it for everything, only time I wanted a slacker head angle was on the downhill trails at Innerleithen. For 98% of riding the PA felt fine.

I am considering!!! Have you got some close up pics?

No the frame was well out of warranty so gave me choice of PA and Alpine at trade prices, circa £100 less than RRP.

Cotic Bfe would be good but need something around £300 or less as totally skint at this time.

Mike, thanks for the reply. Will read that in a minute. Didn’t expect you to cover it by warranty. The frame has done well as it’s been ridden pretty hard (like they should!) and others have said other bikes wouldn’t have stood up to it. Its done everything from XC to downhill in the Alps!

Would you still like me to get you some pictures Mike?

Who’s best to approach for a reweld and repaint and how much would it cost? Will I notice the rewelding after it’s painted and will it be as strong?

Interesting to hear you had the same problem walleater. Did you liaise with Dialled Bikes over the failure?

The frame is circa 5/6 years old, and is an 853 Dialled PA. Its been ridden hard but I wouldn’t say harder than anyone else would this sort of bike. Will speak to Mike @ Dialled to see if he can do me a deal as truly loved the way the bike rode.

    OK, will do a search.

As for zoom don’t want nothing too excessive as that will ultimately mean larger size. I would like something I could easily fit in a pocket. I like the fact with the Panasonic FS 16 that you can increase the zoom length albeit taking photos at 3m pixels.

How comfortable is it, useable for occassional XC riding or is it too DH orientated?

The video isn’t clear and makes look whatever it is relatively easy! As I’ve never ridden this trail what does the ‘grannytrap’ involve?

Swampthings IMO are great tyres, usually have one on the front with a high roller on the back when its a bit muddy, when it gets really bad swapthings front and rear. General trail riding use, not for XC.

I was thinking the same thing, ended up going for aluminium pedals on the basis of long term durability.

Ive just bought a set of ht components pedals from ready to ride cycles, went for the grub screw pedals in alu in the same shape as the superstar mags. £34.99 is a good price. Did wonder about the thru pin versions but didnt know if the grip was as good (slightly less pins), sure they're fine though. Also check out the El Gallo Jeffe pedals on eBay, same pedal without the strut, also cheaper than superstar! Hope that helps?

Maybe Col, but I never see my money, I just act as the person to pass it on the banks, government, supermarkets, insurance etc!!!

When you going to be back on bike, I need to start getting back on bike regular again, only restricted to short local blasts recently.

The ones I linked to are a slightly different pedal shape to the nanos from superstar (the ones that match superstars are out of stock).
