Cheers for the comments. The picture doesn’t do it justice. He’s just been out in the front street and loves it. Taking him off road later!

Little update: it’s the boys tenth birthday today and have just finished the bike (I work away, so it’s been a drawn out build)

I’m rather pleased with how it looks. Lighter than my bike which was the main goal, but looks like a proper mtb.

    Sorry kevj !

No problem! The eBay seller will accept returns so no harm done.

Pic with the hanger removed. I too thought it looked closer to type 27.

Firstly, thank you for your help.

The drop out isn’t concentric to the frame no matter which angle I turn it.

The rear thickening is also not in the correct place. If I position it so the rear face is flush, then the qr drop out opening is greatly reduced. I can get this to line up, but the thicker part of the drop out is over lapping the frame.

Mech hanger arrived today, unfortunately it doesn’t fit! Any other ideas which type it could be?

Thank- you for that. I had seen one EBay seller referring to a type H but couldn’t find anything on Kona site or the net to confirm.

I can see the ‘none of my business’ point of view, but how would you feel if you felt you were being fed more and more BS by your boss, when you work in the same small office space, day after day?

Tell me his name and I’ll find out everything you want to know.

Sorry, but I call wind up and he has plenty of bites over three pages of posts.

Sorry, I haven’t clicked the link, but think rapscallion is a brilliant word and should be reintroduced into everyday usage.

I have these on my Mojo.

Novatech are also rebranded by Superstar as ‘Switch hubs’ Get in touch with them as I needed the 142×12 adapter for my rear hub.

Raining heavily on sat and sun so didn’t do much. Today looked like it was going to be cracking so headed out for a local ride. Came off quite badly on a very greasy section which was basically flowing clay due to the rain. 3 hours in A&E later, I have torn a muscle in my shoulder, the subscapularis. So, not the best long weekend I’ve had.

Have you placed a ferrule between the new plates to prevent the fin plates compressing together?

    Looks good btw!

You might be better financially, putting someone through a good revit training course. Less outlay and the person will already be fully acquainted with how your practice works.

Quite often, a new employee will be less efficient and ends up taking time from the existing resource to get them up to speed. Depends on the individual of course.

I’d say between 16k and 20k depending on experience and education level. For 16k you could offer a uni placement and day release. 20k should get you someone with a few years experience.

Just cad monkey or revit user btw?

I have a SL-R and love it. It’s my do it all bike and my other bike does not get used. I’ll not go on about how good they are (mainly because they are very good).

My only advice would be to not get it in matt. It’s a pain to keep it looking clean.

Might be able to find a solution here – used to know someone who worked there and as I remember it the company were quite helpful with advice about design solutions.

    Like the name. Very topical.

Honeybadgerx is right, the remedial work may not be as extensive as a full demolition and rebuild, but if I were you, I would want to know the worse-case cost to see if it is worthwhile proceeding (I.e. start spending money). It will also provide you with info to approach the seller to see if they will reduce the sale price accordingly. If in the interim, the engineers report comes back with a reduced scope of work, then your costs will reduce also.

Take the pictures from a few angles and also get on top of the wall to see if there are any tension cracks forming above the wall. These could be up to 5.2m away from the top of the wall (based on 12ft wall height).

EDIT: by this I mean cracks in the ground behind the wall, not in the wall itself.

Yeah we’re getting a structural engineer on the case asap, I was just wondering what a ballpark figure might be to sort it as the what-ifs are becoming a bit stressful. Worried it could be a show-stopper which at this stage would be a bloody disaster.

Drop me your contact details as I have access to costings related to Civils jobs. It will be a bit of work for you to go through each of the construction elements, but will give you a ball park figure.

Can do, I’m out at least one night mid week for a training ride and could include some of the better stuff the area has to offer.

    Hi there, Sunderland local here.

There is quite a bit of decent Singletrack in the area, just not that obvious. There are trails in Penshaw woods which Sanctuary cycles built. It’s a couple of years old now and has bedded in nicely. There are some good trails along the river and even some dirt jumps in Washington. Link them all up with railway lines for a good ride out.

Beamish woods is also within riding distance and has some brilliant natural stuff.

I had this just last week. I had a screw embedded in my car tyre and went to the local garage to have it fixed. The cost was £10 for cash or £10 plus VAT if I paid on my card.
As it happen, I found a fiver on the floor while waiting so happily paid cash :-)

Last year (or possibly the year before) we set off down the Blue route at GT from Buzzards Nest. On rounding the first corner, there was my mate Jim with his keks around his ankles, apparently curling one out. Not pleasant.

Open the linetype file as a text file and copy the info from one of the other linetypes and replace ‘gas’ with ‘comms’, then save the text file.

you should then be able to import the new linetype.

    I haven’t done it for a while though………….

This (been a while for me too), but you will need to play around with spaces and dots as the line part of the line will interfere with the words, specifically if your replace a 3 letter word ‘GAS’ with a longer one ‘MAINS ELECTRIC‘.

If its dry, the track along the west side of the forest is a cracking descent, but its quite churned up by moto-cross bikes, so can by rutty hell.

I <think> I have done that one before, nice and fast a few years back. Looking at the OS map, it was possibly the climb from Viewley where there were noticeable trails heading back down through the woods to the North.

I know Pennypipe quite well so may stay on the moors with an hour or so ‘explore’.

+1 again for a route involving high cup nick, fantastic place to camp for amazing views right at the head of the nick itself

Even better views than ^ if you catch the weather/ cloud right.

    Cross fell +1
Stay the night in Gregs hut. You can make it a decent length 2-dayer by starting from Hexham or Barnard Castle say.

This is almost exactly what I would recommend, unless you want a pub, then you can stay in a few places, Dufton, Langdon Beck or Garrigill.

You could also start in Weardale and cross over the tops to Cowgreen Reservoir before doing the loop. Plenty of nice high level moorland trails.

I’m very surprised no-one has mentioned Beamish. Very good off road links both East and West via disused railway lines for commuting or training miles then the woods around Beamish have some excellent hidden singletrack. It used to be ‘those in the know’ stuff, but check strava and a bit of exploring will open up these trails for you.

Other places (trying to avoid duplication from above) include Cong burn woods from Waldridge Fell. The river Wear in Sunderland has some pretty good sidetrack, albeit not very ‘hilly’.
Then there are miles and miles of moorland in the tree main valleys for big (if not epic) days out.

Tom, there are too many assumptions and variables to accurately make a guess. If it is obviously feasible then maybe, but the assumptions may make the result marginal then there is little point.

A quick Google returns slightly more educated figures:
