Where the f!c5 do you live? Sunderland?

    How very un-bigoted.

One of the areas I ride in had a vast expanse of moorland bridleway. Some bridleways are infact shooting access routes for landrovers, the designation of which changes to footpath, then back to bridleway. There are also some very good linking footpaths on which I have yet to see a boot print, let alone a walker.
All of which were originally cut by boot and hoof as trade routes and as access to the mines.

    All fair game.

Similarly, there is a section I have walked down near the Tees which, in areas, would make some seriously sweet singletrack, but I do not use this as access and usage deem it not suitable.

Another argument which I have pondered over is woodland trails which are not designated at all. Chopwell woods for example has some good official fc trails. It also has some far better hidden trails. At what point did the now legal trails become accepted as they were once ‘cheeky’.

Car seats are 40 quid each from the local scrap yard, and that is for a nice leather trim. I have been meaning to build myself a nice computer chair from a black leather Alfa Romeo seat.

I’m not married, but have been together now for nearly ten years and have 2 boys together, and another on the way. I joked with her a few months back that rather than having the expense of getting married, she should change her surname by deedpole to the same as mine.

That way when we book into a hotel etc, we can book in as Mr. And Ms J :D

Erm, yes? We seem to agree on certain points but not on others. From an outsiders point of view (read foreigner), what attracts them to the UK to spend their money?

If, as per your statement above, the royal family ceased to exist. Would more or less people want to visit?

Now, I wouldn’t spend my hard earned on a weekend in that London to see the royals. My money is better spent in a pub near a good trail, as I expect yours is too. But, I’m not one to discount Jonny’s opinion, infact, I understand it is a vitals part of our economy.

Ps, my life is pretty good thank you. 8.5/10.

Our near european neighbours list Tourism as one of the major planks of their economy, last time I checked I think it produced directly and indirectly something like 45% of GDP. They executed their royals in the 1700’s.

Yes. Generally our European neighbours have a better climate and are joined, by land roads, to other European neighbours.
I suggest you join a Japanese photography forum and inform oneself.
It is the remainder of our country that is more shit than theirs why our %ages are down.

Without reading all of the above posts, I can safely say that I am generallyin favour of a monarchy, despite their shortcomings.
Cameron, Blair or any other head of state were brought up with choices. You would expect that, as a minimum, each sibling is educated to the knowledge that this is to be their role in life from a very young age? Firstly, that is a lot of responsibility and secondly, they should be better prepared for it than afore mentioned elected ministers?

Additionally, I like the fact that the queen has certain veto powers over the government. Keeps the plebs in check see.

Edit, not s royalist, just a cyclist. Woz out on bike while the wedding was on.

Serious question, how much more efficient can you be if you could recycle your snot as usable fluids?

    @ Haze,

I was lucky enough to work with a guy who had years of experience programming. He was involved with a company who developed it do far that telesales operators entered a number of dimensional perameters and the code produced both full 3d drawings, a stock list and a cutting list for the workshop.
I can recommend various forums but most importantly a getting snippets of existing code and learn from it. I have yet to delve into vb (not had the need as I have moved on a bit) but apparently it is very usable.
Also, Google for diesel strings and diesel bible. Old school stuff but effective.

I like to ask waitresses to explain what all the pretentious ingredients are on a menu, and always make a point of asking Techie bods what their 3 letter acronyms mean.

That reminds me of a place I worked at a few years back. We used to fo to a posh Italian restaurant on the last Friday of the month down on the quayside.
A mate of mine and I used to play ‘black pepper chicken’ basically, when the waitress brings over your meal and asks if you would like black pepper, you agree and as she sprinkles it on with the big pepper mill, you sit back, smile and count away the seconds in your head. When she asks if that is ok, you say no and away she goes again. Your mate does the same and see who chickens out the quickest.

What type of ground is it on? The pipe solution sounds good (if a bit fiddly) but it won’t work if it’s on soil with a high clay content, as the surface above it will just pack down and become watertight.

Sorry, I should have made the detail a bit clearer.

You can bury the pipe if you wish, but this is almost pointless as it needs to be stoned up on all sides. Much easier to lay pipe on a bed of small aggregate and infill over with more stone to a depth of 200mm above the top of the pipe.

    mm!

    This stuff

But you will get shorter lengths for far less than that link.

You are simply providing a clear pathway for the water to flow out of your trail. Oh, make sure the other end is lower!

Compacted stone will work, but I would also suggest you add a ‘field drain’ or two at a depth of 200mm below ground level. Get some lengths of flexi pipe, around 50 dia and punch some holes along the length but only around 2/3rds of the circumference and make sure the un punctured third is at the base. This will allow any ground water to pass through and dry the area out while the stone gives to a permeable surface you can ride on.

“Rechargeable batteries may not deliver their full rated capacity when new and will require formatting. While this applies to most battery systems, manufacturers of lithium-ion batteries disagree. They say that Li-ion is ready at birth and does not need priming. Although this may be true, users have reported some capacity gains by cycling these batteries after long storage.”

And how long have the batteries been sitting on a shelf in storage?

Personally, mine improved after a few cycles. It has to be worth a punt..

Get a solicitor and copies of your bank records.

I would also approach the bank to see if they have an official procedure to so that you can keep your name clear, should any further payments be missed on her part.

When I first got mine for a Cree P7 some years ago, it took a few cycles of charge /discharge before the batteries were running at their optimum.

Also, the charger I bought as a package with 2 18560 batteries had an auto shut off which stopped charging when they were full.

Same rules (generally) apply for gravy and cup o soups. If it is powdered, small amount of cold water mix to form a paste then add hot water to thicken. If it is granular, straight in with hot water and beat out the lumps.

My brother in law and I once got locked in Craigvinean forest after a late summer evening session on the trails there.
We managed to get out by building a bridge over a ditch with disused railway sleepers which we ‘borrowed’ from the fc wood yard.
Not sure what was funnier, the balancing act over the bridge or driving through the forest with the two back doors wide open as the sleepers were far too long for the back seat.

Back on topic, don’t think the horny couple will get out as easily and he will be on a ban.

Heading West from Guissy woods, there is a cracking section before Roseberry Topping, down and to the right. Follow it around Roseberry and it will bring you out at Ayton quarry which is full of dirt jumps.

Also plenty of good trails over the moors.

Cat-eye perspective. I’ve just been hit by a car/ truck and have major bone trauma. A stranger picks me up, stuffs me into a bag then bounces my cramped broken bones to the nearest vet. He then pays vet to kill me. Nice.

I know it’s a hard to do but putting the poor thing out of its misery is the best thing to do.

Not in any particular order as I have a lovely feeling of nostalgia.

    Smell of coal fire.
Antiques Roadshow followed by songs of praise.
Cooking toast on extra long fork on coal fire.
Vanilla ice cream wrapped in sponge (shit, what’s it called again??)
Smell of old books (my Granda was an engineer for a local ship building firm. I have a lot of his books since he died. They still smell the same).
    Frank Sinatra songs.
    Smell of oil/ metal work.
Being ‘first foot’ at new year.
    ‘Beanie’ and chips.
Story of the new bargain antique bought at a coffee morning.

    As above, check the weather!

If you want a decent circular, head out from Garrigill up the old mine track, over Cross Fell Little dunn Fell & great Dunn fell before heading east over Milburn Forest and back to Garrigill via Tynehead.

Hopefully, it’ll be cold enough to freeze the bog……

A lecturer of mine used to say he never gives out advice for free (Industry related – Civil & Structural) because when you do people will have their own opinion and disregard what you tell them. However, when you charge them money, they are more likely to listen. I have found this to be very true when helping out.
