Whatever you do, DO NOT google for ‘huge cyst extraction youtube’ (top search result, big cyst on some fellas back).

I was linked to this recently and have only just managed to rid my mind of the image, so thanks for reminding me

I think a bit of vigilante justice using bait bikes would be a worth while pursuit. Just hold ’em and call the cops with good evidence.

FFS. Ok. Lets me and you set this up. Seriously. I am up for some late night skull fooking of some scum bags.

HANG ON THERE! I actually have a respectful job and a family. As worthy as your cause is, this isn’t going to happen. Not by you or the majority of folk.

The solution isn’t a simple one.

More people have less expendable cash so the prospect of a decent cheap bike becomes more appealing = a market.
It might help if the punishment for the crime was more severe.

Two rastafarians are sitting on the beach bored.

One says to the other, “I know, lets have an emotions party. All dem guests have to come dressed as aaan emotion”

So, a few phone calls later all the rastas on the island were invited.

Knock Knock! The first rasta opens the door to see another rasta with a posse of babes dancing around and up and down him. He has a big FO spliff in one hand and a winning lottery ticket in the other.

“I” he proclaims “Have come as – happiness”

“Come on in, enjoy they party” says the second rasta.

Knock knock on the door and there was another rasta standing there in a black suit, tears in his eyes and a coffin festooned with the word ‘Mother’ in flowers.

    “I have come as sadness”.

Knock on the door and the ratas go to answer.

This time there are two rastas standing in the porch, both stark bollock naked, The first is ‘cupping’ his todger in a bowl of custard and the second is standing there with a huge smile on his face and a pear engorging his manhood.

(In your finest rasta accent if you please!)

    “I am fookin dis-custard”

“And I, am deep in dis-pear”

If you already use Memory Map, try MMtracker

This. Excellent application and worth every penny.

    Google for distraction techniques.

Basically you are doing anything other than the most important thing.

    Firstly, mtfu.

Secondly, just crack on. Once you have a bit of motivation, let this carry you. If can be more infectious than you would think.

Stayed there years ago (about twenty) when doing the peninne way. Basic YHA iirc. May have changed.

The pub next door is nice and the food is very good and also has rooms (last there a couple of years back).

Not much in the area shop wise but I’m sure one of the mile castles along the wall has a small shop which sells coffees and confectionary. Nearest proper shop is in Haltwhistle.

Some good riding in the area though.

    Sorry if this is a line of investigation you have already tried;

You may be willing to travel slightly further if you can sell most of it to one customer in one delivery?

The only thing I can really call it is active meditation.

Yes, this. When it all comes together, that section of perfect track when everything is perfect and you just float through. All the time smiling inside.

why the hell do you ask?? freedom, escape, challenge, laugh, fun, see stuff…

Because I am genuinely interested in the answer.
Ask the same question on other forums and you will have a wider variety of answers.

For me, I ride for what the riding gives me back. I know others that ride for other reasons.

I was given a raleigh marauder in 1990/ 1991 for Christmas after riding bmx for years.

My uncle used to take us (eleven at the time) along the local railway lines, down through bluebell woods and back along the riverside ‘Lambton Trail’. I did this every weekend and two or three nights a week. I was hooked.

BUT, when I first became a mountain biker was when I spent a week in the lakes when I as 17 with a mate. Beer and bikes for a full week and I (very naively may I add) conquered striding edge then climbed back over to Ambleside for more beer.

Shoot it yes, but don’t eat it. They are carrion eaters the same as crows and they are riddled.
You prob would be okay, but I wouldn’t touch it.

I have the ams and the bearings are standard and could be replaced at a fraction on the cost (sorry, I do not have a list of the codes).
Kaese (sp?) On here supplies them.

One thing to mention, the full cube kit also comes with replacement bolts for each bearing connection. It is very difficult to find these, or so I have found.

It is very easy to see what they are doing when you know how to look.

    From the Telegraph article, use the;

I ride in minus temps myself, the rougher, rockier or softer the trail, the less of a problem with ice. It’s the hard, smoother stuff that’s dodgy…the descent off Carlside will be like a toboggan chute!
The Borrowdale Bash doesn’t gain much height either, a bit different to the top of Skiddaw.

Oh, I totally agree. I was hoping not to do the Borrodale Bash in similar weather as I did the last time and hit that during the summer months.

Can anyone recommend a good ‘plan B’ route should the conditions be poor?

Lovely thought, I always wanted these as s kid.

How Long does it take for a kid to fall asleep? How long do the stars glow for? I imagine the people who left reviews are expecting nuclear powered stars ffs.

Cheers, will definitely have a plan b.

Looking to drive over for an early start so if the weather is looking poor, we might head toward Grizedale or somewhere more sheltered.

I did the Borrowdale bash last year and when I set off from Keswick, it was -8 deg and apart from the frozen streams, the route itself wad generally rideable.

Last time a phone of mine was accidentally summed, I wrapped it in a towel and left it on a radiator overnight. Worked fine (although a couple of buttons were stiff for a week as the sugar in the lager had dried)

I use the full screen OS map to plan routes, then download track for use in mm tracker on my phone. All works flawlessly. Only gripe is you can’t save the track on that website, but I just upload the same file to Gpsies so I can access or pass across to friends.

Bb for the your bike is around thirty notes (assuming howitzer bb).
It has to be worth opening up the bearing and applying some grease.

My bb seized around 10 months ago whilst away for a weekend. I took the risk of removing the sealed bearing covers, washing out the rust and packing it out with grease. Still fine today.

    Fantastic post!

People who don’t ride don’t get this. I have been out in the wilds for several hard hours and came back utterly fecked, and can only smile at what I have just done.
Make memories and enjoy the trail.

It is all just to squeeze more cash out of gullible Joe (I can’t think for myself) public.

The entire charade is frustrating to watch (Mrs watching, I’m on the internet btw).

I saw an old fella just yesterday leaving a pub and climbing on a mid nineties purple Klein. Put a smile on my face.

Also, earlier in the year we had a weekend up GT and kept seeing this old dude with full Santa Claus white beard on a hardtail just ‘show up’ at various places around the forest. Never actually saw him ride though.

Firefox all the way for pc/laptop. What version are you running because as of 2.3 or thereabouts stopped doing auto update and you now have to go looking for the next version (might just be settings on my machines, but three of them?)
Runs fine on all of mine.

Years ago, maybe 2000, I worked in a pub whilst going through college.
One Sunday before the lunch shift, we were all sitting having a coffee and a chat. The chef pointed out this story in the sun about a couple who had been found guiltily in court. She was guilty of letting the family dog bone her, while he was guilty of filming the proceedings.

    We were all discussing how sick and wrong this was, one lad (who was the most camp person you could meet, which added to the hilarity) turned around and quite seriously said;

“I wonder if the dog enjoyed it?”

I work with someone who has one. Can’t comment on reliability etc but can say they are terrible in the snow. We all help out to push it out of the car work even in the lightest covering.

I once saw a chap sitting in the pub having a beer and was accompanied by a little Churchill insurance nodding dog. We sat and watched him ask the dog a question, then tap the dogs head so it would nod or shake its head. He then agreed with the dog and carried on with the conversation.

Er, no, they knew you posted this on an internet forum and got someone else to crack the code for you?

Thinking out loud here, at work we often specify that steel (beams, columns etc) should not be burn cut in certain areas as the burning process can change the carbon content within the steel and make it (more ) brittle.
I can’t see how the above could be applied to a baking process, other than the material used for the welds will be slightly different, which may cause cracking at these points due to each material cooling at different rates.

Could also be talking out of my arse.

At the moment, what I really really want is an old-style draftsmans drawing board. One of the ones with the big cast iron base

Imagine how many have gone into landfill or been melted down?

    I was involved with an inspection of an old fabrication building in Teesside prior to it’s demolition;

I would have loved one of these, but sadly they were all scrapped.

(Sorry to piss on yer chips and all that)

    FFS, where do I start.

    People who don’t indicate.
People who drive in the right hand lane even though they are not overtaking and the inside lanes are free.
Parents who stop at crossings waiting for the lights to change, yet have their child in the pushchair on the road. Step back a bit. Please.
The lazy Twunt who sits near me at work.
People who ask for help on forums before they Google said problem.

Slightly OT, last night,I saw a police officer on a bike, skid-lid hi-viz etc, waiting for the green man. He was on the footpath, attempting to cross a main road. WTF is all that about?

I can recommend a moonlit walk around Montmartre and Sacré Cœur. There are some fantastic restaurants and the views over Paris are beautiful. Just make sure you have enough euros!
