On QI, I think the Sirens would be sounding quite loudly

    Ok ok, :D

I did say I am prepared to be wrong! One if those urban myths I didn’t check on. Ho hum :D

I am prepared to be wrong on this one. I was once told that the only vehicles which can legally break the speed limit have dispensation from the queen and are duly painted red.

Fire engines are the first for obvious reasons and the second, wait for it, are post office vehicles, delivering the queens mail.

In the reality of the today’s age, I suspect this is utter tosh, but it is apparently one of those old laws which has not yet been changed.

I have a set of these on my Mojo. They are a brilliant fork (but I would say that!) Very plush, not too heavy and once you have set them up to suit your bike/ weight/preference then they just simply work.
    Nice and stiff too.

The launch control function works, but, I have tried them when climbing and it doesn’t really help. At Gunnerside last weekend, the climb up old gang mill was into a very strong headwind and I struggled to keep traction at the back without the front wheel lifting. I tried the launch control again to see if it helped by dropping the front a bit and it has the effect of changing the angles at the rear and makes peddling harder (there is a thread on here re this somewhere) so after giving it a fair chance, I’ll not be bothering with it again.

This aside, the fork is fantastic on downhill sections and responds very well on small bumps etc.

Last time this happened to me in the fresh meat isle in Asda, I couldn’t control myself and pistol whipped Ethel with an out of date pork loin.

I have just bought the Nexus 7 for my o/h for her birthday.

Only had it one weekend, but it really is a good piece of kit. Well put together, very fast and the screen depth and colors are amazing.

Yes, it is at the cheaper end of the market, but the way I see it a large number of these will be sold which means there will be plenty of aftermarket mods and add-ons to enhance it.

Illustrated the gap between mtb and road imo. Fisher was typical American and Obree was strange, possibly has genuine fixation problems.

It was on the inside bank on a bend in the river which has many different rocks deposited. The rock is 100x300x75 mm.

Kimbers, that sounds very plausible, cheers.

Fibre Lyte do carbon frame repairs and by the look of the finished product, they do a ‘respray’ of sorts. get in touch and see how much it costs.

    Then let me know….

Did a similar thing myself recently, mech buried itself into the spokes, snapping two of them.

I was up particularly early that day and was still 8 mile from home so no other option other than to push.

Two hours later and a 75quid repair bill.

    Local universities who do a course which is related to your line of work would be my first port of call, but also look at these two websites;

I think this sector is quiet atm. I’ve just had quotations back from three companies ranging from 2k to 4k for over 30 acres of full topo inc services.

That said, the marine and offshore sector is doing very well. A mate of mone has just taken a job in Norway surveying pipelines and on a very good rate.

I stayed in ‘The Wold’ which was across the road from the now demo’d Terrys choc factory.

Close to the centre, reasonable and decent breakfast.

Flip a coin, call it; get it right pass it on. get it wrong two fingers or gamble with another flip of the coin…wrong? 4 fingers, get it correct pass the forfeit on to next person, who can flip…for 6 fingers…starts to get really personal.

Very pleased I know what ‘fingers’ mean 8O

Assemble the lads into x no of teams of two. Each team buys 10 bottles of beer. Must be same brand, %age and volume in each bottle, ie ten bottles of Becks and line them up.

On the count, the first contender from each team begins drinking. Once that person can’t drink anymore (usually 2nd to 3rd bottle) they place the bottle back in the line and their team mate begins to drink.

    Repeat.

Watch everyones face as they are on bottle 9 and all they can muster is a sip and their team mate wishing they could drink more!

Have you considered other make chainrings?

I converted my triple to 28/38 and opted for TA chinook rings. They do a bash guard too but its nearly fifty notes.

    50 mm Depth

    1413.9 Volume
    Tube 100000 mm3

    70.73 Bolt holes

But I’d allow for a portion of resin at the base.

The MAIN thing here to to thoroughly clean the hole out or the resin will bond to the dust reducing the tension capacity of the bolt.

EDIT; formatting has gone all to toss.

We have a HP Designjet 500 at work which is used daily.
It has broke a few times but considering the amount it gets used is is very reliable.

As for jams, the only time that happens if the paper hasn’t been loaded correctly (working from a roll).

I’ve also used a Canon with paper folder attachment which was brilliant. Far better than the HP, but at 4 times the cost.

Look into Oki for middle ground.

Wake up in the countryside every weekend, trails on my doorstep and a safe place for my kids to play.

    Sounds fab! Where is it?

It’s in Upper Teesdale. I can drive to Hamsterley in ten mins, but there is miles of natural stuff in the moors and valleys around the dale.

We tend to have one ‘proper’ holiday a year, but can also spend two full weeks up there and most weekends.

One other thing, it’s cheaper to run than my house, so I actually save money when I go up there!

Brickman, mine cost me 9k for a six year old van sited 8 mile from Hamsterley. Rent is £1200 a year and the season is nine months long.
In fact, it is the best investment I’ve made.

i would only use hard cases for the hold, at least with a rucksack/bag you can use it once you get to your destination, you wouldn’t walk around with or shoot out of a peli.

I have a decent backpack for when out walking which I will be using for hand luggage on the plane. I wanted a hardcase for the hold and I liked the.idea for storing the cameras at home when not in use.

    Cheers for all the replies.

I’m running 2×10 on my mojo with 28/38 up front and 11/36 on the rear and an XT med cage mech with no issues at all. And I can get every ratio including both big rings smoothly.

Is a cheap one likely to cause problems?

I’ve seen (on other pipe, not steerer tube) the cutter not staying in the same place and almost cuts a helical thread down the steerer tube.

Thousands turn out to see bloke with big gold lighter shocker.

I’m surprised at how many people are going to these events. The local one to me has several large marquees, a fun fair and the Olympic rings on the side of a hill. All very good for the economy if it stops raining

MrSmith, I was looking at a iM2400 which comes in at 3.5kg which I thought was reasonable for a hard case?

Is the thinktank a hard shell or more of a bag type case?
