Thank you all for the replies. I now have options to look through tomorrow. Too much choice is, apparently, not a good thing.

Very seriously, might it be worthwhile talking to a blind company? They will be able to provide plastic tube to the correct length, with a method of attachment and end pieces.

Collar is the better idea. More chance of shearing the dowell if you reduce the section near the supports. You also give yourself more options for corrections I.e. zip ties, jubilee clips etc.

Possibly engineering brick. You will need a sds drill on hammer and a good shatter proof / impact tungsten carbide drill bit.

Inertia of additional compressed air will counteract any unsprung mass losses. Honest.

I was once told ‘1515’ is a standard engineers code by an installer.

It hasn’t ever worked for any other alarm I’ve tried it on but it’s worth a try.

Who on earth passed its planning permission, it just looks so out of place on that backlane.

Seriously, garage door, garage door, big glass factory, garage door. Planners should not have let that through imo.

‘bubble wrap’ style liner for baths but with big cells for comfort and insulation. Include LEDs that change color for no extra marks, but will look awesome in chav households.

I would spread the load by screwing a timber ‘plate’ to the wall via a good number of studs. Buy the type that you pre-screw the female part into the plaster board (big helix) then fix the timber plate.

Then hang mirror to hooks in timber plate as normal.

    EDIT; studs as trekster link

I had similar issues a year or so ago. Both my o/h and I downloaded a babyname app which changed our settings to wcdma only for some reason. Both our phones would loose reception and have no connectivity. Anyway, after eventually finding out what the problem was and uninstalling that app, I tend to run gsm mode so I have reception (posting this via gsm and out in the sticks).

To be honest, pretty much all of that other than the maths books would be of historical interest only. The transistor books were written within 15 years of it’s invention: we now have another 50 years of knowledge.

Yes, I totally agree. I’m not looking to make any money from these as such, but, as an engineer myself, some of the older text books are very helpful when you have to re-engineer older designs or to get an understanding of the thought process leading up to a final solution. If I’m honest, I’d rather sell all of them en-block to someone who will get something from them rather than ~£5 each on Amazon.

I;ve just spent some time cataloging the books and googling their title/ author.

    The list is as follows;

Mathematics for electronics with applications-Nodelman and smith-1956-Mcgraw Hill
The Principles of electric power transmission-H Waddicor-1964-Chapman & Hall

    Transistor electronics-Arthur W & Lo Jakob Zawels-1958-Macmillan

    The mathematics od servomechanisms-JL Douce-1963

    Basic pulse circuits-Richard Blitzer-1964-Mcgraw Hill

    A textbook of electricity-HG Mitchell-1960-Methuen

    Electronic fundamentals and applications-John D Ryder-1964-Pitman

    Technical Electricity-Davidge Hutchinson-1928

    Engineering Electronics Ryder-1967-Mcgraw Hill

    A text book of heat-GR Noakes-1960-Macmillan

Laplace transforms for electrical engineers-BJ Starkey-1958

    Using Transistors-DJW Sjobbema-1964-Philips Technical Library

Electrical Circuits including machines-A Draper-1964-Electrical engineering series

Transistors theory and circuitry-KJ Dean-1964-Mcgraw Hill

    Electronics and Power-1966-IEE

Servo mechanisms – An elementary textbook for scientists and technologists-John C West-1962

An Introduction to industrial administration-FRJ Jervis & WF Frank-1965

General English for Technical Students-E Frank Candlin-1958
Elements of physical chemistry-Samuel Gladstone David Lewis-1963-Macmillan

    Manufacturing Processes-JV Harding-1961

An introduction to infinitesimal calculus with applications to mechanics and physics-GW Caunt-1959-Oxford

An introduction to bessel functions-Frank Bowman-Constable

Chemistry for Engineers an introductory course-E Cartmell-1959-Butterworth

Please forgive the formatting as I have cut and paste from excel.

I think I’ll keep the Bessel Functions and Calculus books but I would like the rest to go to a good new home (To someone who understands them!)

I’ll post up thread in the FS section tomorrow if anyone is interested.

As mentioned above, offshore is booming and off the back of this, Ports are seeing more vessel movements on their quays.

Ports need a multitude of professions to operate smoothly and there is always the option to diversify once you are in.

    What sort of electrical engineering?

I’ll get a list later when I get home, but from memory, subjects included mathematics for electricians, pulse generators and circuitry.

^ I struggle with long sentences

First of all you need a craster smoked kippers.

Then you need to shop for fresh eggs, thick cut Brown bread and some full fat butter.

Then, choose the best cooking method for the eggs from above and combine with a liberal sprinkling of salt and cracked black pepper.

    Perfect poached eggs; done.

(assumes toasting bread doesn’t need instruction)

Turn yer bike upside down for a few mins and cycle the forks through a few compression strokes. The oil in the forks will lubricate the wipers, seals and stanchions without introducing a dissimilar chemical to the system.

Where’s the path for os maps that you can plan and download .gpx files from, BUT, they only have a certain number of allowable map tile downloads from Ordnance Survey and as its late in the day, they have probably been used.

These hubs are identical to superstar switch hubs. In fact, superstar buy these from Novatech rebranded (as do Ibis of Mojo fame).

All spares and guides are available on the superstar website.

I had a similar problem, turns out that I had once turned the media centre function which in turn was constantly trying to sync with windows media player. This had the effect of using up all available spare processing power and memory, leaving none for my programs to run.

Simple fix, turn this off (same place as games, I’m on my phone atm).

Then use a third party player such as VLC.

Google the above for a better step by step guide.
