I had a tick some years ago and read up on Lymes disease as I was worried I may have been infected. One article advised the main process of contracting the disease is the method of extraction of the tick. Basically, you can discharge the guts into your skin if you squeeze it. Apparently if you cover it completely with candle wax, it un-buries itself due to lack of oxygen so reduces the chance of infection.

There is play in the bushing, but there is also lateral movement in the shock at both top and bottom ends of the shock. It slides ever so slightly along the shaft.

Does anyone have experience of offset bushings as a manufacturer? I’m not after offset as I’m have with the geometry of the bike, just want a decent set of replacements.

Put the tyre in the oven for ten minutes to warm it up so it’s nice and supple.

I’m confused. Surely if it’s a public ROW then he’s not within his rights to stop you at all? Even if going across his land? Every ROW goes over someone’s land.

I’m not saying he can stop the OP from using the path if it is a ROW, but I believe he can stop him from using his bike. Pushing the bike over might be a grey area.

You can pay (about fifteen quid) the Land Registry to see if the path is within his boundary and therefore his property. If it is, then he’s within his rights to stop you. If not, then let him get on with it, smile and carry on as you were.

I’ve just came back from a few days glamping at GT. Midges aren’t too bad other than last thing at night. It took and used some Jungle Formula which did the trick.

I hit a large deer between Christmas and New Year last year. We were staying at Lochearnhead for Hogmanay and had travelled to Fort William for a day trip. Coming back through Glencoe around 6p.m. in pitch black, One ran across the front of the car around 15m in front of me. It was surreal in that it just came of of the darkness and full speed. I was doing around 50 and braked. It was the second deer that followed the first a second or two later which I hit. My nearside took out its hind quarter (it had almost full closed the car right to left) and bounced off into the roadside. It wasn’t safe to stop where I hit it, so I pulled into the next layby. Bonnet, front wing, front light and bumper damaged and a large chunk of deer wedged under the bonnet.

Can you travel to the trail head by car? If so, Bolts Law is close enough and is a cracking natural route.

but after a bit more around 100kish

Edit: do it a few times

Check the cassette is nipped up correctly too. Although, that tends to be more of a rattle than a creak.

I have both the M8 and now the 10.

The 10 is much the same as the M8 in the respect it has HTC version of Android, but it is by far the better phone.

Clearer and more vivid screen, good battery life, superb charging time (note the new USB charging port) and much faster OS.

The one thing I’d read was the anodising can scratch easily on the aluminium case, so I bought a spigen case for it from day one.

I love my static which is nestled in the upper Teesdale valley. I’m inwardly debating whether I should go on the bike this afternoon along from Cowgreen to High Cup Nick or pop over to Hamsterley.

We were chased a three geese on the moors above Hamsterley a few years back. Honking and flapping and flapping and honking.

It’s a one way trip and it will live in an apartment when over there.

I’ve heard conflicting info on here between what is best, bike bag or box and as I’ll only need it once, I’m happy with the box. Bike will be bubble wrapped and the box duct taped for security.

I use a set of Remmington MB 4110 beard trimmers for my hair. The battery is just starting to show signs of loosing charge after six years of use once every two weeks. I will be replacing with the same model if I can’t get a replacement battery.

Oh, they have a sliding guard so you have a much wider range of lengths to choose from, not just the standard guard lengths.

Do you have a Linkedin account? If not, get one and look at what other people with your skill set in your industry have. It’s a starter for ten and you will get inspiration for what works for you. Most Linkedin profiles are an extension of a person’s C.V. to an extent.

We are fortunate that the house is very well insulated and the central heating system (combi and rads) heat up the house to a nice warm temperature in about fifteen minutes if we’ve been out. I ‘refurbished’ the living room last year and put in a new modern fireplace with a bio-fuel fire. It’s there purely for aesthetic purposes and looks lovely on a dark night.

The ball bearings mean I can hold pretty much any diameter axle without having to change the jig.

If only it were that easy. She’s an actual person in the flesh who I care about. But ‘yes i agree’ to the rest of your comment.

Okay, lets ignore the statement that she is making herself look like a complete pillock for a moment.

Is she unhappy? is she single (that’s not an offer)? Is there something missing in her life? Is this just her online persona and she is the same person in real life?

It may also be a passing fad.

I’d do a proper children’s bike – something designed purely for smaller people. Weight and Geometry very important. Cable management very important and a BB/Headtube compatible with standards for headsets and BB’s.

This is what I build for my lad from a Stock Halfords 24″ Carrera Blast

    http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/dads-building-the-nice-24-wheeled-mtb-for-your-kids-crank-info-and-build

I frame wise, headtube needs to be slacker and cable mounts need to be tight against toptube underside running down seat stays.

We can start a business to hammer Islabikes overpriced push irons.

    Propain[/url] do both a HT and full sus kids bikes with modern geometry and claimed weight of 10.5kg for the full sus;

Standard fare for conspiracy theorists. They tend to believe outlandish claims made in online documentaries by non qualified people but then refuse to read (or believe) academic studies or reports from professionals and adopt the fingers-in-ear approach when an opposing view is backed up with fact.

I had one built partially following Roger Musson’s plans, but adapted them for flat plate laser cutting and folding. We had spare off-cuts of 4mm Gr. 2205 duplex material from a project and I re-worked the plans to include three main elements and a movable guide. Clamping is by two 18mm Dia threaded bars which have been machined on the inside ends to a indented semi hemisphere which then holds a ball bearing. This means as you nip the wheel in place, it will always find a natural true in the stand.

It works very well and is utterly bomb proof!

I did something very simlar with my lads bike. Bought a 2012 Kona Fire Mountain and stripped it back for a ready for a red powder coat. Upgraded gears to SLX 1×9 and bought a set of Superstar 24″ wheels with a view to change back to 26″ when he started to outgrow the bike.

Me and him heading up to Gregs hut on Cross Fell.

He has a new set of wheels on now so should get another year or two out of this bike, although I am tempted to upgrade the fork.

I use ViewRanger on both Android phone and iPad (used to plan routes) with OS maps loaded onto both. The standard file format for routes is .gpx and you can get a free .tcx to .gpx converter.

If available time is short, when you get to Dufton, drive as far up the track as you can as this will add on more bike miles at the top. The last dirt road section of the track is good fun, then tarmac into Dufton, so you’ll not miss out on much this way.
