Mr Hummerlicious is your best bet for ideas for organised routes/rides around these parts. (Hope you don`t mind being nominated…)

Thanks for the tips guys. Definately guilty of looking down at the corner (thinking, "sh*t, I am not gonna make it" most of the time)and not through it. Notice it most on the rooty, woodsy singletrack. Find myself looking down at the corner, drifting out to the edge of the trail, and then the brakes go on!
Also guilty of using the front brake too much.
Pads idea might help. Might try and get some 661 EVO knees.
Not booked a course yet – only decided today. I am near Brighton so I think the nearest skills school is in the Surrey hills.

Going to have to try and remember all the tips now next time I go out…

Thinking of getting mine done over the next few months too. For some reason I have Universal Applied Coatings in Pease Pottage saved to my favourites. Can only think it was a recommendation from a previous post perhaps.
I am in Shoreham and the only one I have heard of around here is The Spray Shop in Lancing.
Have not had any experience of either tho…

After 2 hours getting the front tyre on, one broken tyre lever later, inflated (no problem there – the tyre is so tight to the rim strip there is no chance of it not sealing) it only to find the bloody valve had gone where it is bonded in to the strip. Ok so maybe I should have used a brand new strip, but it has been such a hassle I have now given up. Just put a Stans filled tube in instead. I have been running tubeless for two years now and it is the first time I have had any real problems with tyres. I could have tried again but it has taken so long to do this I think if I had a problem out riding one morning it would be dark by the time I got the tyre and strip out and put a tube in.

These are 2.35s on 717s, and yes it is the strip that makes it extra extra hard, but have got the same on a pair of Flows which were also a struggle to get on. Mud-x seem to be a bit looser. Hoping I don`t get any splits in the tyre once they are on…

Using 2.25 Ardents front and rear. They have been great around the South Downs and several trips to Wales over the summer. Def large volume. I am not a great leaner but never had any problems cornering hard. Been running them tubeless too with no problems.
I would be thinking of taking them off soon though. The grip is good but the tread is not that high. Will keep them on as long as they feel good but I think the Mud X will go back on for the worst of the winter.

I agree it is more than confident going down in its standard guise…, but it is even better with the Alpine Link 😀

Got one 2nd hand about a year ago. I love it. You will no doubt find a lot of people who dis it but then we all like different things. For me it rides really well both up and down, it is quite upright but I managed to find an Alpine Link which has made it feel more relaxed. The DUC32 forks I like too. Was a bit unsure when I was looking but love them now.
Mine has had a few upgrades since I got it and rides as well as any of my mates newer bikes. Hope that helps.

2.4`s are a bit too big for my skinny rims. Are you running both in the same direction though?
